  • From 1996, here is a series of promos and a sign off following Masterpiece Theater on the Watertown and Norwood, NY (Update NY) and Ottawa/Ontario PBS stations, WNPE 16 and WNPI 18. All copyrights acknowledged. Features a few promos then O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner. WNPE is now WPBS PBS.

    Only a couple of years later, the station became known as WPBS.

    I did not know that this PBS station was broadcast in Canada since they performed the instrumental theme of 'O'Canada'.

    Why O Canada first if this is an American licensed station. XETV in Tijuana played the Mexican anthem first

      They include Canada in their coverage area, especially in the Ottawa market, but I think the reason why they did it was because to treat it as if it was a sporting thing with the away anthem first and then the home anthem. WNED-TV however did play the US anthem first then O Canada beginning in the late 80s or so.

      @@joshdznyc Pretty sure a couple of them besides XETV did play the US anthem... but now, they're all required to play their own anthem (Himno Nacional Mexico) at 12 and 6AM, or whatever.
