    Out of ALL of the music icons, my absolute favorite of all time is Brian Jones. I have been on this planet for a looong time and have had the pleasure of listening to and even meeting some music luminaries, but Brian remains at the top of my list. The man was a musical genius. Guitar, sitar, harpsichord, dulcimer, piano, classical harp, xylophone,... He could master any instrument it seems. The sad part is that he never had the opportunity to truly show the world his talent. True he had his demons, but all the great ones did, Van Gogh, Beethoven, Edgar Allan Poe,..... The world is a far emptier place without them, especially Brian.
    Rest in peace Brian, the world truly misses you good sir.

    • @lemurianchick
      @lemurianchick Před 2 lety +3

      What the hell are you smoking?! Never had a chance to show the world his talent?! Um...Being on "Ed Sullivan" multiple times is a nothingburger?! Being on this tour in 1966 doesn't count? 🥴

    • @kodiakbearson8815
      @kodiakbearson8815 Před 2 lety +5

      @@lemurianchick Nice rebuttal. The man's career lasted a whole 4 years in the spotlight. Do you presume to say that his potential talents were showcased in that brief time and that he could go no further? I suppose you would imply the same sentiment if applied to say Buddy Holly or Duane Allman had done everything and would have no further music to give to the world. In this instance, there was far more that could have been achieved, provided any of them had not been taken far too soon.
      But I suppose such a music master as yourself realizes that their potential had reached it's pinnacle and they were in the twilight of their musical careers.
      I suggest you contemplate what you post in the future before inquiring what someone is smoking, because you will be called out every time.
      Best regards. 🤐

      @@elenikorkodelaki2695 The words come easily when they contain the truth. The Stones "carried on" after his death, but they lost the complexity of their music. The early Stones music had a mix of renaissance, rock and blues unlike any other band of the british invasion era. This was indicative of Brian's creativity and talent. 1963 through 1970 were the heart and soul of the band's claim to fame. They continued their trek through time, but it was never as original. They became somewhat generic in their approach to music, which undoubtedly led to commercial success, but the depth of the music suffered. I firmly believe that without Brian, they would never have gone far. He was the founding father of the Stones and his talent was what launched them into the collective minds of the world. I've said it before and I will say it time and again,.........
      No Jones,... No Stones
      Absolutely LOVE the early days of The Rolling Stones and still do.
      Long live the legend, long live the music, long live the legacy of one Mr. Brian Jones.

      " that the punks never dreamt of achieving" Could you explain what you mean by this. It's my understanding that punk music, in it's first 10 years or so, stands for just what the early Stones did.

    • @twezzo99
      @twezzo99 Před 7 lety +6

      By the time the Stones started to write their own (great) material, they really were becoming themselves. The same goes for the Who and The Kinks. Once you´ve achieved that AND being successful, you´re a leader. The punks were followers in my opinion, apart from Iggy Pop and the Pistols. Restricted to (young) age, attitude, posing and a concept of anger and amateurism.

    • @willieluncheonette
      @willieluncheonette Před 7 lety +4

      thanks, guess we disagree on what early punk music stood for. Believe me, as someone who was there, there was no posing in 1976 and 77.

      Well, I have to believe you...I was about 4 at the time :) ,and far away from where it happened. Talking of my own youth, the live bands I adored most never made it big and are now unknown to a wider public.

    Thank you and he was the image of early British rock and blues a handsome young man that's for sure. He even have the girl that all the rock musicians wanted and Keith got her I think. Always have the best close the best guitars on stage. And he had the best year for blues.

    Brian jones o mais versatil instrumentista da historia da musica,aqui tocando um dulcimer instrumento regionalista indigna americano...jones bastava alguns minutos pra encontrar as notas acordes e a melhor afinacao e depois tocava com maestria como se tivesse tocando o instrumento ha anos...tocava todos os instrumentos de uma orquestra classica e assim foi durante sua breve mas intensa vida...

    Music's most beautiful face 0:51 The golden stone :') Brian was the magic ingredient of The Stones. He gave them their best years. A musician that can play any instrument they pick up is a musician most bands dream of having. Gifted people are like shooting stars they leave us way too soon ... people should have treated him better when he was here. They did not appreciate the musical genius they had in Brian Jones. I like to think he's now chilling out somewhere playing guitar with his friends Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon 🎸

  • @RobHollanderMusic

    Never thought they did this live, what a nice surprise. Thank you. The Stones most definitely benefited from Brian's ears, imagination and knack with exotic instruments, but it was also the time when they were chasing the Beatles and it inspired a higher level of songwriting from Richards and Jagger. Once the Beatles and Brian were gone, the Stones morphed into a sort of a glorified roadside dive sort of band (with the exception of an occasional Richards ballad like "Angie") which still thrived with the addition of the brilliant blues guitarist Mick Taylor. After his exit they were noticeably lessened and thus hired a bunch of sidemen and women to pad the act and developed a high tech stage show and evolved or devolved, depending on your viewpoint, into the oldies arena act they remain today.
