This would be worth several Grand in a lawsuit in America. An officer needs probable cause to pull you over he can't willy-nilly just pulled cars over and run an alcohol test. As shity as America is at this point in history at least it's not Australia
It’s an RBT to stop drunk drivers, ur a clown
“You’re the only car on the road” at least he was honest bout that quota 😂😂😂
They're often really broke too. Whenever I read about a police hiring freeze due to funding issues, I'd prepare to get pulled over a lot..and I did. Good thing I gave up drinking to fund my car habit. Not that I ever drank and drove before that but still.
Of course there a quota and there should be. It’s not a quota on giving fines, it’s a quota on random breath tests. Which is good at keeping drunk drivers off the road.
If there’s 1 car and you randomly pick a car from a pool of 1 car, then it’s going to be that 1 car. Nothing wrong with this.
@@JnoPrds i guess its a mentality thing too. You could see it as not just about quota and catching those breaking the laws, but the cops tryingvto do their job instead of sitting around beingvpaid to ignore cars.

This same video in America with an answer like "nah, you were the only car in the road" would have people flipping tables lol.
You are probably right! Cops are often a bit different in America. High sense of entitlement and victimhood mentality with low education and training. The officers in America would have started probing with nonsensical questions. Definitely not all police in America, but a trend. That is why they fought so hard against body cameras. To avoid getting caught for terrible crimes (violence, planting evidence, etc) and little things like this that come across as bored officers bothering people.
That’s because we know our rights. And it’s criminal to abuse power and violate our rights. Lawsuits will be filled and won. You will never see people flipping tables over a video of somebody doing something wrong, with no rights violated. That’s the difference.

In America, they gotta at least make up a valid reason to pull you over
Different countries with different rules and cultures. The cultures part is one that people don't understand how big of a difference it makes. In some other countries, people are fine with randomly getting pulled over because they could randomly catch people breaking the law, technically making it safer, especially if the encounters with the police are mostly peaceful.
In placing like America, it's not like that. We were born on anti government ideals, and would almost never want random stops.
Yeah not here in Australia. Cops randomly pull over cars all the time for breath tests and it's a bloody good reason to not drink and drive because you get heavily fined or arrested if you're caught.
Nothing wrong with random checks when you dont get shot for commiting the crime of being alive.
and then shoot you for it
In America they shoot you for reaching in the glove compartment to get your license without first telling them.

Australian police: We had no reason to pull you over. We even admit it.
Me, an American attorney: *shocked eye twitch*
Lawl nice name
To be fair, they do require probable cause for most any thing more than shown in the clip.
And yes, getting uppity & angry about being stopped can easily become probable cause.
RBT (Random Breath Test) stops are common place here, even if you're not driving erratically or have any noticeable signs of intoxication.
Given a person whom is intoxicated can, and often will when around cops, drive lawfully and well; The RBT stop has become a major deterrent against driving while intoxicated.
It's a methodology that has caught many such instance's and has significantly reduced DUI traffic incidents as a result.
We don't rely on antiquated roadside balance tests, breathalysers are more accurate and take far less time to conduct.
However I guess it's little comfort for US citizens that are not use to RBT and officer initiated stops requiring no reason or probable cause.
Generally speaking, the vast majority of these stops take very little time and result in no further action being taken.
At worst, it's a mild inconvenience. However the greater benefits far outweigh this, for Australia's circumstances that is.
I understand it would be a very different & difficult process to impliment in the US. And they might very well not see the same scale of benefits conpared to what is a significant concession over there.
Cheers

In the US the cops need a justified reason to pull someone over. (speeding, broken light, wreck-less driving, illegal turn, etc.) If this was the US I'd be filing a lawsuit after the cop said "nah we pulled you over because you were the only one on the road"
Notice the right hand drive....
@Aidan van Praag they did notice it. You don't know how to read and interpret
I love america
@MudLee i love america
They still pull people over for dumb shit. You ever heard of a "furtive movement?"

“The only car driving “lmao! That was his answer stopping them!
Cop: you were the only car on the road
Darren:so you pulled me over for fun
Cop:pretty much yea
Yeah that's pretty normal here.
So messed up..
@@BlazedBob why is it messed up? it's literally just for protection and to prevent people from driving around drunk
@@Pedro-vm1vg It's for money bud. Gotta fill that budget.
@@BlazedBob it’s 4am. Nothing messed up about it. They breath test to take drunk drivers off the road. Which saves lives.
At least Australians seem very friendly when pulling you over haha😂
Ahahaha no, they power trip as much as american police just without the misuse of the equipment, besides a odd taze.
They act like they put their life on the line everyday and you should thank them like their a hero meanwhile between 2010 and 2022 only 22 police had fallen during their duty meanwhile in 2021 alone they had fatally shot 100+ people
Look up operation raptor, nearly every counstable or sergeant will act like that
I don't care if they are friendly they pulled him over for no reason
I would be suing the shit out of him
@@jacobovelazquez1151 lol america has really weird laws, vs other countries, police can pull you over in australia and atleast 3 other countries I've lived in for a "rbt(random breath test)" heavily leaning on "random"
Loop holes 101
sir , only random checking but you are the only one on the road 😂😂😂
Legit question for the Aussies out there. Can the police just pull you over to breathalyze you for no reason? In the US they have to have a reason like breaking traffic laws, swerving, seeing alcohol through the window, etc.
Yes
@@TylerMarkRichardson sad
@@linoportelli8240 not sad at all. RBT (random breath test) catches drunk drivers so we dont get hit.
We should definitely do this in the US. Straight to the breathalyzer. The field sobriety test is the biggest scam of all time
Wouldn't it be faster too?
Believe it or not, alcohol isn’t the only drug out there
@peterparker1724 not hard to test for drugs too
💯 probably at least half the country would fail at least one of field sobriety tests sober
if i'm not mistaken you can refuse the field sobriety tests in most states and go straight to the breathalyzer
The girls are freaking out, and he's just like nah I know the laws and haven't been drinking
Clearly not . Theres no probable cause
Was he swerving, driving erratically speeding? They cannot perform breathalyzer w/o PC

Any lawyer worth anything would get an American driver off because the cops words proves there was no probable cause for the stop in the USA. F Australian police state. It’s why I hated my visit. Worse than American police state.

@SanctusPaulus-ic5gl I guarantee you that I know geography, the countries histories, their current economic situations, their election history, their laws, their states and provinces, and so on so forth more than you. @@dommyboysmithafter exploring much of Europe I've come to the realization that it's not even worth vacationing to. folks... it is 4 AM.... probably on a weekend... it is not the first time they did it.... it is likely trying to catch drunk drivers

Funny story,
My mum works at a hospital and she works the "on-call" shift of where you get called in if there's an emergency. It was a public holiday and she got called in at like 2am. The police officer pulled her over because of her being the only car on the road. The policeman came over and asked for her license and then he asked why she was up late a night when she responde that "I work at a hospital and i got called in for a patient." His response was "Oh, well I better let you go. Have a good night" and he gave her id quickly back and let her go.
What's funny about that?
Absolutely nothing funny about that. A cop is trying to validate his existence while people are literally dying
hahaha so funny cops just using their authority to impede law-abiding people trying to go about their business
Even though it cost me nothing to read this comment I still feel short changed.
@@peterparker1724 it was on a holiday so its more of validating thing to stop drivers since most people that are out are drunk due to parties. its not the cops fault he didnt know it was a nurse on call
