What do you do when you want to wash the fabric :/

1. Have it dry-cleaned. It's going to be an occasion garment, not everyday wear - how often are you going to wear it - once or twice a year, maybe?
2. Wear it with a thin slip so it doesn't touch your skin so barely needs washing.
3. Remove the lights/Insert new lights.
4. Pretend you're Tudor, Victorian or Edwardian - they wore absolutely _sumptuous_ gowns and never washed them!

It's a standard foldable cutting mat. You should be able to find one at any sewing shop.
