Thanks James for this, some of the items I did not even think off when travelling eg Carbon Monoxide. One thing I would ask for you to consider is use reef safe sunscreen instead of the traditional ones which destroys our reefs and fish in the ocean. Even add a rash guard to protect your skin from the sun and save on using sunscreen from time to time. Cheers

I would add to always carry a couple of Benadryl, even if you don’t usually have allergies. It could help someone else. I shared it once with someone who had newly-diagnosed food allergies, who was unaware of an allergen in something she ate.

I've been watching you for awhile and you were the cause for us to visit Live Aqua in the DR. We had a great time; thank you!! I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm 74 years old and lost my Dad 30 years ago and still think of him every day, as he is with me. I was mentally in the same place you are now. Your Dad is within you and you take him wherever you go. I know you won't leave him behind. When you go uphill you have to give it the gas and I know you will. My wife and I look forward to your travels of the world. Know we will be watching and at our age you give us insight as to what to expect. We are seasoned travelers and still learn from you. God Bless you

    Hi James 👋
I really appreciate you bringing up the carbon monoxide issue.
I wasn't even aware of it!!
I will purchase one before I head back to Playa Del Carmen in November.
I carry a cool backpack that can be folded up and attached to my belt. It's great for when I go out shopping as I can unfold it to carry any souvenirs or items that I purchase.
Thank you for taking the time to create such informative and entertaining content.
I always enjoy your work. 😎👍

Ooooooooohhh, I'm looking into the premium sunblock you recommended as that sounds right up my alley! 😊
I unequivocally agree on the carbon monoxide detector! I always keep one in my luggage no matter what for the exact reason you stated! 🙂
One thing you didn't mention but I'm a huge proponent of are electrolyte replenishers. My personal favorite right now is Primal Hydration because not only does it actually taste good in a way the vast majority do not, but has coconut water powder and beet root juice which gives it some additional performance and recovery benefits. I always pack a supply with me because often supermarkets have mediocre-at-best options in stock that offer the bare minimum or worse are sweetened with Sucralose or what not.
Do you use compressible packing cubes out of curiosity? I do and they've been a game-changer ever since I first discovered them: where I'm packing probably 50-60% more than I would have been able to do otherwise each trip. 😇

You are sharing vital info as I know from experience and thus I share a lot of your travel hacks in my frequent travels. My Tumi backpack was way with the expense. Air tags in all bags are an absolute must as they have saved me lots of frustration even letting me know to not even bother waiting at the luggage carousel but immediately going to baggage assistance. I’ve found the baggage personnel actually like the fact I have an AirTag as it helps them in their search. I’ll be adding the CO detector to my travels, great advice.
Question, do you carry the CO detector in your carry on? It’s allowed through security?

Having been watching lots of your vids and researching all the inclusive resorts in the Punta Cana area. Really need to know, why are so many people getting food poisoning? Do I need to bring a food thermometer on vacation there? Is it not paying close enough attention to getting the tap water in your mouth? If you have some insider info, that would be excellent.

Two friends of mine died in a hotel room in southern Europe from carbon monoxide poisoning. Their boiler was dodgy and leaked in the middle of the night. Everyone should take a CO detector and make sure the batteries are new, not old. I always take a piggy bank too. I stash it in the hotel safe at night and take half out with me in the day. I always take a good rucksack too and take it on the plane packed with 2 sets of clothese in case my luggage gets lost
