This movie is very well done, I don't think I can even explain it fully without ruining it. But I felt like I went through a rollercoaster of emotions and stress, and it coincides perfectly with what is being portrayed in the film. The first-person view adds to the effect. It reminds me that intuition is a powerful tool.

I would say, I don't think this ruins it as in the trailer it's fairly clear, I realised rewatching this for the 3rd time yesterday,
Firstly, it genuinely shook me to my core yet again, I even apparently fell asleep after and in the morning my gf said I was literally screaming in my sleep saying "peach fuzz is coming for me" and "you should be scared too, he's coming for you" I couldn't actually believe that as that has never happened to me before, I felt awful for her as that sounds so fcking creepy 😅 she said it did scare her a lot 🤦♂️😅
And secondly, I realised after watching it, although the entire film is terrifying and unnerving, the moment I really felt uncomfortably scared, matched when Aaron (the guy filming) came to understand the situation as actually dangerous and terrifying.
Amazing film, I don't scare too easily despite the fact it sounds as if I do. This film uniquely did that to me.
I also just found out watching a making of video, that, rather sweetly, the two guys are like best friends in real life. And conversely, rather disturbingly, almost all of it was improvised. The actor playing Aaron said it was basically a loose structure, and in essence, was just him hitting record and letting the actor playing Josef just do his thing.
Also interestingly, the whole wolf mask thing (peachfuzz) actually came from them filming what they planned to be a dark comedy, and only upon showing it to numerous people, who only described it as 'creepy' did it become the horror film 'creep'.
didn't really know what to expect going into this movie and it kept me guessing until the very end. It's different from any other movie I've ever seen in a good way. It's part comedy, part thriller, part horror, and I absolutely loved it

didn't know what to expect when I found out this was produced by Blumhouse, but they really picked up on something here. Genuinely terrifying movie, one of the best I've ever seen
I just found this movie. It in a subcategory of horror called "found footage ". I love how scary it was and it was done without fancy cgi and even without gore.
Mark Duplass' acting in this movie is absolutely extraordinary.

It’s very hard to make a movie so damn unsettling and scary without so many jump scares. I gotta say I was unnerved within the first 20 minutes and it just kept getting more nerve racking. Just not knowing what was going to happen...

absolutely loved this movie. the first half was so amusing, absolutly loved Marks' acting -- especially as he's so easy on the eyes :') I persoanlly wouldn't class this as a horror movie, more a thriller. especially as the ending made me cry, which horror movies have never done to me ahaha. It's not the best horror movie in the world, the jumpscares didn't get me (except for the last one) but maybe that's as I've watched so many horror movies & games so I kind of know where they would most likely come about--but I still love it and would definitely watch it again if I wanted to feel a little unnerved.

I had this discussion with my gf who felt the same way you did. She really loved it, it just didn't scare her quite as much as it did me. She said it was because she said it was a bit predictable. I argued that as you said, the jump scares are, The plot is not. I said that of course the jump scares were predictable as (just my opinion i could be wrong), they looked set up that way. The camera work and Josef running off a lot, was clearly setting up for Josef to pop out. For me, that made me more scared for a longer period of time than a jump scare would. As the constant anticipation of Josef reappearing and guessing the ways he would, left me anxious right up to the jump scare.
You are both correct with regards to the genre in a sense. As I just discovered, they both initially recorded what was supposed to be a dark comedy called "peachfuzz" and only upon showing this short film to numerous people, who only described it as creepy, did they accept it as the horror film creep. So there is absolutely essences of numerous genres, I think that is perhaps why to me it is so incredibly unique, and I think they really tweaked the found footage genre to something truly original

update: oh my god. first off, i recommend watching this movie. I don’t even know how to describe it without giving too much away but the name is extremely fitting. starts off creepy in a funny way with “Josef” making aaron film weird stuff. as the movie goes on stuff gets worse. The twist is expected but unexpected in the way that it was delivered. This horror movie won’t have you screaming or anything but it’ll leave you feeling unsettled. don’t overlook Peachfuzz..

update on update:this second part was a really interesting addition to the plot of Creep. the movies and filming style taken on both make everything very unique. the plot was an a nice change from part 1. the dynamic between sara and “aaron” as he now goes by, is almost sickly loving as sara immerses herself into his life

The comment bandwagoning is a bit excessive. I mean you guys are acting like this the best horror movie of the century. It’s not. You’ll spend most of the movie laughing rather than being scared of anything. It’s anticlimactic. The people commenting must be nerds or film amateurs because that’s exactly what this film was…amateur at best. 5 out of 10 at best. Mark Duplass was the cherry on top but there’s nothing “classic” about this film. DVD-Blu-ray worthy honestly.

I think you're right but there is a specific reason you're right, in my opinion. It's because like me, you watched this through 2023 eyes instead of 2014 when it came out. We've seen all this before and the lost footage genre has been beaten to death. I think I might have had a different opinion in 2014 and you might have too. That's not to say that it makes the movie better, but it tempers the disappointment a bit.

This movie was good but very pradictable and figured out the ending within half an hour into the movie. But its got some pretty good jumpscares. I wouldnt call it a horror but its still a good movie despite that

Definitely. It's not what you typically expect of a horror movie. And as much as I hate jumpscares, it does fit the character. It's unpredictable and makes you feel very uneasy. Had my attention from beginning to end.

This is a great unique movie that is up there with Blair witch I. Different ways....this movie was great I watched in on 33 grams of xXStrain psylosibin / psilamen mushrooms it was great time ....and I've also seen everything that's ever hit the big scree noeeiod and then some obscure movies lots it ain't that popular plus the classic and hit movies was great in its own right very unique
