Yeah as a kid i never appreciated that these guys were legitimately talented individuals, they’re sick
They're actually super impressive when you think about it. Super talented, original, produce and write all that stuff, do countless live shows (in normal years), just constantly touring and producing shows. They've been insanely successful for a kids show.
IIRC, the original members, looks like only 2-3 are left, used to perform in bars and clubs around Sydney as the Cockroaches
They had plenty of hits before the original wiggles band was a band they were the cockroaches, and for their time I think they were decent. Definitely exceptional musicians that knew the formula for writing hit songs.

@@joshuacota4077 Greg has done several reunion shows since his cardiac arrest, I think toward the end of 2021 he did a few things with the other original members and he participated in the reunion tour that they did last year which is why he got such a big welcome. He did say in an interview that it took about a year before he was really able to get back out and perform again.

Okay so the Wiggles are a children's music group in the way that Barney was a soloist. As demonstrated, many of their songs have positive messages for toddlers and young children, hence a song of theirs called "fruit salad" which just teaches kids to like fruit.

This is the closest the Wiggles has been as a rock-band since the Cockroaches (1979-1990) and the fact the Old and New Wiggles at the time were doing this together was icing on the cake!!
At the age of 71 songs that appeal are harder to find but this one's got me. Every time I play it it's stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

Anthony and Jeff were in a pop band together before The Wiggles, called The Cockroaches. Murray was in a pub rock band before and during his time with The Wiggles.

Not to diminish all the insane talent in here (seriously, Lachie's singing is incredible and Murray rocking the solo is wild), but I'm disappointed at the lack of comments for Simon (the new Red Wiggle) and how his baritone just ADDS to the entire vocal of Elephant. Like it adds *so much* to the original, not just in making it funky as hell, but somehow...darker too??? Whatever it is, I just live for his baritone.

I have zero connection to the Wiggles. I don't have kids and as someone who is in their 30s, I was a little too old to watch the show when it hit in the US, BUT I think this is a wonderful reminder that these guys are more than children's televisions characters, they're actual musicians. GOOD musicians at that. I cannot tell you how much I adore this.
They were musicians way before they formed a children's band. The original Wiggles had a rock band back in the 80s and most (all?) of the current Wiggles have musical training too.

I have only started watching Wiggles again (after my own childhood) after having a child and I gotta say looking at it through the lense of an adult these guys are insanely talented artists and some of their choreography is way outside the realms of what you would normally consider children's entertainment.
These artists are a good example of what makes the world go around.
