    Development of Pancreas: Embryology
The development of the pancreas is a fascinating process that begins during the 4th week of gestation 🌟. It originates from the foregut endoderm, forming two buds: the dorsal and ventral pancreatic buds. The dorsal bud appears first, followed by the ventral bud, which arises from the hepatic diverticulum 🌱. As the embryo grows, the rotation of the gut tube causes the ventral bud to move and fuse with the dorsal bud, creating the definitive pancreas by the 6th week of development. This fusion results in the formation of the main pancreatic duct 🧬, which drains into the duodenum. The endocrine component of the pancreas, the islets of Langerhans, starts differentiating around the 10th week, contributing to the critical regulation of blood glucose levels. Understanding the embryological development of the pancreas is crucial for medical students as it lays the foundation for comprehending congenital anomalies and diseases associated with this vital organ 🩺.
