The most legendary, most dangerous and most powerful pirate. I admired him since his first appearance in the show. I liked his ideas, his actions, his words. He was incredibly strong and talented. I'm sorry that we have to say goodbye to him. This was a beautiful, brutal death. Rip Edward "Blackbeard" Teach.

Totally speechless during his execution. Nobody deserves that. Even the Governor's own men were shocked toward the end.
Pretty sure the governor lost respect and purpose there. Made it evident to both his men and his enemies. “Civilization” with that as a result.
@Diamant he actually preferred to scare his victims into surrendering their ships and valuables, and crew, without a fight. He mastered intimidation for this purpose. He preferred to take the ships undamaged. And the crews who were familiar with them to crew them. His crew also said he was a fair and respectable captain in all the documentation they’ve discovered
@@ThaRealRizzo yeah but he wouldn't be able to scare anyone if he wasn't a cruel man who is capable of doing bad deeds. At least at some point he must have done fucked up things and after he got famous he didn't need to do it again since everyone was scared of him. No need to romanticise the criminals. Pirates, mafia, drug cartels they are all criminals and there is nothing poetic or admirable about them.

@@elliottmbi1217 I'm not saying governor is right. It's an overkill for sure but he wanted to try the same tactic blackbeard and other pirates have used. Fear. Now the governor is famous for his cruelty and some pirates are afraid of him. That's understandable.
And you don't need a proof to assume that the one of the most notorious pirates Edward Teach "Blackbeard" did horrific things. Of course he did. Don't be daft. They all did. The thing about criminal life is that you don't get respect of the other criminals without commiting a crime. Worst crimes are respected the most. And he WAS respected.
I love the fact that unlike every single other black beard depiction, this one doesn't just portray him as the main villain, the devils spawn. This depiction shows him as a man with his faults, but a man that refuses to kneel down to the system. Loved his character in this show.
R.I.P Ray Stevenson. You were amazing. no one can be a better Blackbeard. Here's to you Ray. 🍺🏴☠.

Dear Ray your death came so unexpectedly. Your performance in both Vikings and Black Sails really touched me, especially your performance in Black Sails.
Such a shame to see such a talented and massively underrated actor pass away too soon. I will always remember your greatest performance (in my opinion) in Black Sails. Soon i will re-watch it in your memory.

One of my favorite scenes is when Woodes Rogers keel-hauls him a third time, and when everybody thought he was dead, and Jack was being brought over to have the same done to him, Blackbeard coughs, and picks his head up, defying death itself, and stares Woodes Rogers right in his eyes, basically saying "Anything else?", showing him that he is a man unbreakable... that no matter what rogers does to him, he will not give in, he will not break. And Rogers, filled with loathing hatred at the man defying death before his eyes and before all of his men, finally grabs a pistol and ends Blackbeards life with a shot to the head. Edward Teach was a man unlike any other, the last great Lion that ruled over the Savannah.. he was the last one that knew what it took to be feared, and to be great, the last one that welcomed strife to his door on any day, and spit in the face of it..., a true pirate if ever I saw one....... TO BLACKBEARD!!!! 🍻✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼☠️☠️☠️😤
Ray Stevenson is possibly the most underrated actor of our time bc his portrayal of Blackbeard was the most brilliant I've *ever* seen!! The way he was killed was absolutely shocking and horrific, I could barely watch it. Z, this video is going into my Black Sails playlist since all you do is make masterpieces 😘😆😲!!! Such WOW!
@gronhox2 When i saw Stevenson as Blackbeard in this show, i first didnt reckognise hom from Titus Pullo from Rome(big beard, totally different character: Pullo was a reckless warrior who overdrank and never gave a 2nd thought, where as Edward "Blackbeard"Teach was an experienced and calculating mastermind). From the véry first scene he was introduced in Black Sails(three lies)... and especially the calm, manipulating voice he speaks with, you know "Ok, we got a badass over here", and he just pulled it off over the seasons. This guy could make the devil shit his pants if he wanted to! Great acting!
Rip legend... I'll never forget this particular role, and all the things you did in this series... You really changed a lot of people. You will be missed.

When someone talks to me about how epic Game Of Thrones is, i point them on Black Sails... season 4 so far is one the best (if not the best) seasons i have ever watched on TV... You did great job man! i would love a tribute for Flint when the show is over... i mean he is one the best characters ever..

Alice Nightray I agree Season 1 is not that good. Season 2 is way better cuz there are awesome battle sequences (an epic one actually), amazing character development (in fact they show the past of some characters) and great dialogues. Basically it gets better every season. Give it a go and finish Season 2! If u will, let me know your view. :)

It was painful to watch that scene... I wished something would have happened so Teach would have survived but I knew that this was the end of Blackbeard. But great video as always Zurik!

I loved his defiance of death and in the end he won and Rogers lost. Having to shoot him in order to stop the fear and awe that Teach was spreading with his, being alive.
I think they had a bigger plan for Teach, but as the show was only given one more season, they had to cut him out to focus on the arc of Flint and Silver. It sucks though because he was certainly one of the best characters in the show, and even though he died in a brutal way, he defied Rogers and refused to die until the bitter end.
After they included the scene where he revealed the Spanish shrapnel in his chest, I sorta figured it would weaken and force him into making a sacrifice. He'd go down fighting to give Jack and Anne a chance to escape some threat. That's when you realise that he'd begun to see them as his legacy, as he thought of Charles. And maybe they don't kill him in the fight, but keep him captive until they can publicly execute him. In full view of Nassau they keelhaul him and whomever survived the attack with him.
God I wish they'd had five seasons >< Still, the show is seriously amazing and I've watched your vid 9 times today!

Blackbeard was an awesome character. I like how they made him gone what I will never like nor accept is how plot came to this point.
They could not attack this ship with few men. Just sink it with all powder they had and then just shoot floating survivors while pissing on them, laughing and drinking rum.
And Vane would have punch Rackham in the face for being such a coward.
Totally agree. Only reason I could think of (besides terrible writing) is they needed a prize to prove the Governor's death. kinda like how Blackbeard's head was decapitated post death.
That's actually how it supposedly happened in real life. they change the governors character but the man who killed black beard did so by using that same trick... of waiting below deck.
Only outnumbered here was Governor, not Blackbeard. Blackbeard also couldn't escape on his ship in real history as redcoats obstructed him.
Fun fact. Charles vane in the show would hate the real life blackbeard. Because blackbeard was potentially a plantation owner and at one point implied that he saw slaves as nothing more than currency

I recently commented on your video with King Ecbert, and I don't know if you saw that comment, but i specifically asked for this video to be made, and now you've made it and uploaded it faster than i could have anticipated. Thank you. For such a powerful character to die, I still think his death was given the honour it needed, as his end may have been a folly, but it was never a defeat in character. He remained defiant till his very end, and that, I think, is admirable because he proved that he himself was the very embodiment of what he taught others: "Strife makes a man strong".

Interesting that today, pirates are portrayed in an overromanticized way as adventurous and fun people (PotC), or real demons who slaughters anyone and everyone they meet, only to show and purposedly to say that "this version is the accurate".
But Black Sails not only realistic because of the grounded tone (no mysticism and such) but it found the perfect way inbetween. It showed those who are actual monsters and nothing else (Edward Low. Holy shit, that guy was terrifying), or those who at least tried to be nearer to the opposite.
