- After arriving in the U.S. to study abroad, a lot of Chinese exchange students run into all sorts of cultural differences. I talked with a bunch of students to see what they think of life in the U.S. What's it like living in Washington, D.C. Thanks to all the American University students and everyone else who chatted with us!
P.S. Thanks to all the Chinese exchange students who talk time out of their days and talked to us in English even though they were nervous. Hope you guys keep it up and keep learning!

我当天采访的很多人都是在美国参加英语项目的，都是在学语言的，而且很多人到美国才几个月、每天努力上课。大家请不要因口音、表达能力的欠缺而去批评，所有人都该互相鼓励、互相帮助💪
好吧，that makes sense. 我就说，如果真的进行academic study/professional training的话这些同学的英语显然是不行的啊。。希望下次能够再采访一下在美国读了比较久的undergrad/grad students？

Guys, most of them have only been in the US for less than a year. I don’t think we should judge them based on their accents tho. I came here not speaking perfect English but I definitely made my way through in terms of using English fluently, so everyone deserves to be respected for their temporary imperfections.

在国外，无论干什么，先嘲笑你的永远是自己所谓的同胞。找到别人的不足，以获得自己内心的优越感，终于把别人比下去了。虽然人在国外了，说了一口流利的英语，也没摆脱应试教育带来的影响，批评别人英语不好的人，请你们先把中文学好吧，中国的谦逊，宽以待人的优良传统学好。

那些初来美国的人觉得people very nice，从某个角度来看是这样的。但是等你待久了之后就知道，其实那是因为people keep distance from each other。

距离感也是一种主流习俗吧，好像不容易敞开心扉。

我在美国旅游的时候，个人感觉是美国人相对单纯一些，你不必过分防范被坑（想想你自己在国内旅游的时候），美国人还是比较和善的。但如果你误以为人家跟你很熟了，用国内熟人打交道的方式，那完全是你的错。That’s cultural differences

我给中国留学生一个建议，开始说英语的时候把每个单词发清楚，不要为了说得快而什么都不注重，导致很多错误，中国口音不丢人，等你熟练了 再加强flow。

It is very difficult to learn a new language after a certain age. But you gotta keep practicing and go out more to engage in conversation with the natives. You will never be perfect but you can definitely improve your speaking skills. Chris’ chinese is amazing! I wonder at what age he started to learn the language🤔
我觉得这些学生用英语回答本身就已经是非常自信了呀，为什么要评价他们的英语是好是坏呢？语言的作用不就只是为了交流吗，双方能听懂就好了呀。
纯听不一定听得懂，而且听的人很累，你讲话也要考虑到别人是不是很努力在听你讲话。
假如這裏是國內，你這句話沒問題。可這是美國，英語才是常用語言，所以這些人的英文真的塑料到我驚訝
YYY Yang 因为我一直以为留学生除了口音和文化差异基本和母语者没差。可是听完只能说词汇量OK的，口音和语法表达真的一般啊。
@@kris1679 【留学生】这个群体是不可以一概而论的，有些人是去取得学位的，有些是过去念语言班、summer school或者exchange。他们留学之前的英语基础不一样，留学时间也不一样，所以英语水平有高有低很正常。

我见过一种 口音很美国 很流畅 但说话空洞 没内容 没逻辑 拼了一大堆口水话 的留学生 还有一种 有口音 但内容精彩 逻辑强 没有口水话 直接说重的 大部分美国人都愿意和后者交流 所以我想说的是 很多人误解了学习英语的目的 沟通传递信息 才是目的

Hey whats up Chris. I'm not sure if you will see this so I might write this in one of your future videos but an easy way for your microphone to have equal volume on both sides of headphones all you do is make the audio track from your microphone to one side(can be the left or right) then make a new audio track and copy the microphone audio to it then put it over to the opposite side. If you need help lemme know I had to do it all the time for interviews.
