I know you have followed Matt from AVC Rigs instructions to cut the blobs, but why don't van DIYfers just remove those blobs. It is just styrofoam after all. What is the use of those blobs? Notice I don't have a Transit yet, so I haven't had the chance to look at those blobs in detail yet.

Great question! The foam, while nothing special to look at, does serve a purpose - the side-shield air bags for the doors are behind the foam blobs. In the event of a crash, the foam is there to direct the air bag curtain down. I guess you could remove the foam, but then you would want to either disarm the air bag system ( not desirable in terms of safety) or build a case around it that would still (hopefully) function properly with the airbags. I will say that once they are covered in fabric (we used the Duramax tweed for our walls, pillars and blobs), they look pretty good-watch our video on covering the walls, pillars and blobs If you wanna see how it turned out! Like Matt mentions in his video, it does take a few tries to get it right. it took me three attempts to cover the first foam blob, but we were able to do the second blob in one try. If you find any other good options for covering them please let us know!
