How to Connect Alexa to WiFi - 4th generation

- In this video, I will show you how to connect Echo Dot to WiFi by using Alexa App. This method works for both Echo and Echo Dot. Also, Alexa App could be either on an iOS device such as an iPhone or iPad or android device either on phones or tablets.
The first time when you plug the Echo to the power, you should get a message saying "now in setup mode".
This orange flashing means it is trying to connect to the App. But don't worry if your orange flash light disappeared, we can still get it activated. In this video, I will show a way that no matter how fast you are, you will still be able to connect your Echo to the internet!
To make Echo to listen to your command, you need to use the keyboard, Alexa. So, lets try. Alexa, are you connected to the internet!
I just bought my 4th generation Echo Dot. I am very happy with its quality, both sound and built. I definitely think the new design is better than the old even though the 3rd generation echo dot was a great product.

Important - don't connect your echo with Bluetooth to another devices (eg. phone) prior to connecting it to WiFi. Connecting Echo to another device via Bluetooth could interfere with the setup process. Once, you've connected the Echo to WiFi, then feel free to connect to a phone or any other devices with Bluetooth. You can find the related videos below.

After changing the wi fi password not able to connect Alexa with wi fi
Mvp comment. Kept failing for me until i turned bluetooth off mid wifi connect
Its seems I've tried everything and the device just will not connect.
I'm kinda sorry I bought it.
*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*

If you did everything as in the video and got stuck on connecting to wi-fi, then check if your device is paired (bluetooth) with the speaker. If your device is paired with the column, then remove the column from the list of paired devices, restart the application and start from the beginning. For me it worked.
Thanks for providing a solution that helped you connect the Echo. Yes, I think if you first connect the Bluetooth it'll probably interfere with the setup process. But, once you've connected Echo to WiFi, should be able to connect it to your phone's Bluetooth as well.

I have done a blunder, could you please help me with this problem?
I have deregistered my account from Amazon echo dot from the app but not done on the Amazon echo device.
Now device needs to be set up in new location, new WiFi and new account.
How to do this since I have not checked the device and the device was in un plugged status while deregistering my echo account from the app.
How to re set my account with new account ?
mine asks for my wifi password and loads for a couple seconds before saying there was an error, ive tried everything
same here, i am also using att Uverse modem with att fixed wireless internet. I think att is blocking it from connecting. They keep giving me the run around on why it wont connect, one of the reason was my 50 megabit connection is not fast enough for the echo!

Jesus so what do you do when you type your password wrong trying to pair the Alexa to wifi and now it automatically trys to connect and fails and take the device out of pairing mode immediately

Hi there. Did you buy your eco dot from Amazon? It should connect to WiFi irrespective of the country, specially if Amazon sells it in Namibia. What error you are getting - for example, at what time in the video?

Tried all that it didn't work. When I connect to WiFi it says password is incorrect when I tested multiple times (by forgetting network) that it's correct
Update , worked when I was literally next to the router and switched to my 5g WiFi option server

@@danielm.valenciac.2454 I tried many things and it eventually worked it just needs patience try being right next to the router, or if your WiFi has 5G option u can switch to that. Hope it works

Is your WiFi from a broadband? If yes, then you could connect many devices to the same WiFi, such as your phone and Echo (Alexa).

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, czcams.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

For some reason anytime I put it on the cable it doesn't glow, I had the echo dot for 2 days and the first day it was perfectly fine now it doesn't work

Hello there, I've been trying to connect this device with my android..the only problem I'm facing is that..when it's searching for wifi networks..it ends up showing either "add new network" or "tap to see Mac address"..and if I click add new network.. It's also possible that you'd need to delete your old WiFi first before being able to connect the new one.

@@aditigupta2690 It seems your Echo dot is not connected to the WiFi and you've enabled Alexa on your Phone. Could you please have your phone away from Echo and then go to echo and ask Alexa so that your phone won't respond. Because it's also possible that Echo doesn't get a chance to respond if your phone responds first.
