    #1 - greatest starter track bike ever. I learned to go fast on one. With 7 years of track experience and even being a very fast rider, I still find TONS of fun in my Kawasaki Ninja 300. #3 - my favorite track bike is my Suzuki SV650. The torque on the v-twin is enough to keep my inner child happy even if the top speed is only around 125mph.

  • @woodyracing49
    @woodyracing49 Před 4 lety +7

    The number one piece of advice has to be to buy a bike that’s already track prepped! Bonus points for finding one already sprung to to your weight. Find something that already has good suspension, has kickstand and any other necessary sensors already bipassed, braided lines, bodywork, a steering damper, safety wiring already done, and usually you’ll get a pile of sprockets for gearing at different tracks too. You just save SOOOO much time and money, it’s insane. Building a track bike from a street bike is great if you’re a serious expert to pro racer with sponsors and you’re starting with a brand new bike but for a track day only bike, it’s just not worth it. You can go pick up a prepped 1st or 2nd gen SV for nearly nothing.

    When i started riding track years ago the coach said something i still go with...if you arent ok throwng the bike off a cliff and walking away dont make it a track bike. Havin said that i started track on my 1000 street bike. One day one drop and i learned my lesson. So far ive gine from 750 to 600 to 650 twin in that order. In wish i started on the 650 and just kept it. Now im racing vintage on a 98 tl1000r twin (sv650) on steroids that started as a project bike re build i intended to make into a naked. Oh and as someone who worked for triumph.... i can say its a great bike but drop it or break it once and need parts....? your season is over. Takes weeks or months for parts

    Great video!! I’ve only tracked twice. I think a 2006-2010 R6 is about perfect for my skill level. I have two Triumphs for street (in 2 different states), both triples. I tracked my 2002 Sprint RS ages ago. I have a 2018 Street Triple R that I adore, but don’t really want to track it. Thoughts on the R6 for a dedicated track bike for me? I get the reasoning behind a 400 but my first bike was a ninja 400 and i always felt really uncomfortable at higher speeds an in turns bc it was so light and nimble it felt like a bicycle then I got my 16 r1 and immediately I was taking curves faster just because it handled way better it’s glued to the ground and goes exactly where I want it to go I’d much rather be on my r1 on a track my first time than my 400 just because of the handling.

    I've had a Suzuki GSX-S750 (naked bike) for 2 years and just started doing track days. It's an awesome bike on the street and fun on the track, but not a good track bike. The main thing I've noticed is that the riding position feels more upright than I'd like, and the footpegs are too low. I keep scraping my boots on the ground in corners and it's not great. I'm planning to leave it stock and get a no-title 600-750cc supersport bike for the track when I come across a good deal :)

Giving me the rc390. To start my track season (and use on rain days) then use the 899 panigale in the afternoons or on day two, once the muscle memory has kicked in. some one give me some advice. I started at the track this year with a aprilia GPR250. I haven't had a whole lot of time out on the track but feeling like its a bit slow already and want to move up in power. Out here in China where im currently based you can get a track prepped Daytona 675 for $3500 but just getting a stock ninja 400 will run about $5000. I feel like a ninja 400 is probably the sweet spot for power for me but its hard to justify spending considerably more on considerably less of a bike. Am i gonna die on a daytona or do i just get it and try to go as careful as possible. Or buy a track prepped ninja 300 for $3900 that i might get bored of after a month or 2?

    No title bikes are not too bad of a hassle in Texas, provided time is not a big factor for you. It's a small fee (around $300) to get the paperwork done, then you submit it and wait 3 years. Then the state will mail the title to you. If you think you won't still want to have the bike in 3 years in TX, don't buy the bike without a title unless you think the next person won't mind jumping through the same hoops.

    Validating a RC390, by stating that Arie Henning (not sure how it's spelt) set an RC390 record on a track with an RC390 is kind of... Irrelevant? Don't get me wrong, the bike is very cool, but the point made for it is some CNN Corona virus level marketing :D
