I am old enough to remember the great meals cooked on a wood cooking stove wood heat and cooking stoves Cold mornings ice in wash dishes folks that gave a little more Best days of my life god bless
Love it. Thanks for sharing!
The meals I cook on this stove (bacon and eggs, soups, stews, etc.) always seem to taste better! :)
Just like my grandmother's. It's the only model I've ever seen with a hot water tank. She'd dip a pitcher in it to scoop out water for dishwashing, and hers had a spigot, so the bathtub could be filled beneath it. Yes, they all bathed in the kitchen back then. She always kept a copper boiler on the back burners to keep more water hot for bathing. She had another wood stove in the basement, where she washed the family's laundry every Sunday night. Grandpa read to her while she scrubbed, and then he rinsed and turned the wringer. That way, her wash was always ready to hang out first thing Monday morning. On rainy, snowy, or icy days, she hung the laundry in the wood-stove-heated basement. Thanks for the trip down memory lane ...
Loved reading this - thanks so much for sharing! It always feels extra special when I cook on this stove. Thank you fir watching! :)

We have an Elmira Sweetheart too. I gently rub a sanding block on any spatters on the cooking surface, and rub with a bit of stove blacking after. This keeps it beautifully black and shiny, and looking like new. Any spatters on the back or elsewhere, and in the oven and on the chrome trim, just get wiped with a damp cloth. The Elmira company moved to somewhere in Michigan a number of years ago. You’re right that the stove cooks beautifully.
Thank you so much for the tips, and for watching! Really appreciate it!
@Muskoka Republic hello I'm currently trying to make a replacement part for someone's sweetheart stove the latch the holds the oven closed, I'm wondering if you or someone else that has one can send me some pics and dimensions if the latch as I cannot find any pics of any, it would be much appreciated
More I watch your channel, the more I learn about you as a person. I have a similar stove I bought 30+ years ago. Just getting around to setting it up in my new outdoor kitchen. Thanks for the info on the Elmira and the features.
Very cool - hope to see some pictures of your stove once set up. Thank you kindly for watching!
@@MuskokaRepublic can you share an image of the piece that holds the oven door shut, I need to have one made cause it is missing but I need to know what the piece looks like and the dimensions?
Beautiful stove.
My neck of the woods we call that warmer a Dutch oven
Margin Stoves Ltd is another company half hour drive from Elmira. Their gem model is almost identical to the Elmira. I have one built from the 1980's and still going good.
I bought some piping from Margin Stoves and got to walk through their facility while I was there. Very nice stoves!
@@MuskokaRepublic Hi its a neat place. I was there a couple of times myself. They even have their foundry on the property.
That is a beautiful stove
Beautiful stove, compliments your cabin really nicely. Do you know the year of manufacture.
Not sure. Hoping someone online might have more info on this stove.

Soap and water to clean surface , and how do you clean the oven and grill . ?
Same, just use hot water and soap.
Good morning! I have searched for this stove and it seems to be unavailable. Do you know where I can still purchase one?
Hi There. I don't believe the company makes this model any more. We bought this one second hand. They do have other models: www.elmirastoveworks.com/fireview/
