  • In this Fusion 360 CZcams tutorial, Autodesk's Kieran Gill will walk you through the geometry selections framework in Fusion 360 Manufacturing, why it exists, how to use it, and some pro tips for using geometry to empower rich feature selections. Kieran will cover how to select chains, face contours, silhouettes, pockets and use sketches to drive toolpaths from.
He will also walk you through how to use pocket recognition and show how powerful these new selections methods are in helping to automate toolpath generation with associative linking across toolpaths.

Helpful! Now, how about adding Composite Curves Used In Autodesk PowerShape and PowerMill

It threw me off today when trying to cut the outside contour of several overlapping bodies using silhouette, that the operations were still cutting between the overlapping parts. I would have expected silhouette to act as if the bodies were joined. Thanks for the tutorial!

Nice catch. A good part of machining is paying attention to detail!

I personally find the new geometry selection tools to be more of a pain honestly, maybe i just havent gotten used to them yet...

It completely messed up my pocket order just now - it seems to be calculated differently now which sucks when opening "older" projects.

Nice one. And at next, Fusion will be available as an offline Version?

You can work offline with Fusion, as you always have been able to? Sure, some functionality don't work without connection to the cloud, but the basics do.
While I don't work for Autodesk, I think I can say that there will never be a pure offline, fully featured version of Fusion. It goes against the core idea of Fusion, and perhaps more important, it goes against the vision and direction of Autodesk. They are moving more and more towards cloud integration and completely cloud-driven software.
The way I see it, the only companies that has any seriously good reasons for not using cloud based software, they are not looking at using Fusion anyway. Atleast not in this and maybe even not the next decade.
More or less everything is moving to the cloud, and internet connectivity is getting better and better, and when Starlink gets its laserlinks up and working at large scale and most of the constellation is up there, you'll be able to work with high-speed broadband from the middle of the ocean or anywhere you want :)

It would help if you talked users through your selections in the dialog boxes rather than just quickly making all the selections while talking about what can be done. I had to regularly stop the video and go back because you flew through the various selections and I couldn't follow that quickly.
