  • So here's my review of the Alienware M15 R4, an absolute beast of a gaming laptop that easily doubles as a replacement desktop workstation. What’s more is it’s armed with the latest 3080 series Nvidia GPUs (125w)! I was expecting this to be powerful, but not this powerful!

Which of these 2 options in this particular laptop would be a better performer?
    Dell Alienware M15 R4.
    RTX 3060 6GB vs RTX 3070 8GB?
    OPTION 1:-
    -Core™ i7-10870H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
    -NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 6GB GDDR6
    Max Graphics Power-130W
    Total Graphics Power-115W
    Dynamic Boost-15W
    Base Clock (MHz)-1387MHz
    Boost Clock (MHz)-1702MHz
    -32GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM
    -512GB (2x256 PCIe M.2 SSD) RAID0
    OPTION 2:-
    -Core™ i7-10870H (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.0GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
    -NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 8GB GDDR6
    Max Graphics Power-140W
    Total Graphics Power-125W
    Dynamic Boost-15W
    Base Clock (MHz)-1215MHz
    Boost Clock (MHz)-1620MHz
    -16GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM
    -512GB (2x256 PCIe M.2 SSD) RAID0
Both these are priced similarly. The cheaper 3060 with 32GB RAM or the expensive 3070 with 16GB RAM? Which one to go for?
Also, will there be a fairly noticable performance difference between these two?
Or does it affect the performance of the laptop over a longer period?
    Thank you.

    • @PhillinYouIn
      @PhillinYouIn  Před 3 lety +3

If priced similarly I’d go for Option 2 with the 3070. The extra RAM isn’t going to make a significant different to performance as the GPU improvement will.

I'm only a casual gamer and I play games like GTA V, Far Cry 5, FIFA, Forza Horizon, etc.
Actually I'm an architect, so I would be doing a lot of 2d drafting, 3d modelling, rendering + animation of the 3d models, photoshop and indesign presentations. Of these, the most graphics intensive part would be the 3d modelling + rendering.
So in this case, do you suggest to stick with 32GB RAM/ RTX3060 6GB or the 16GB RAM/ RTX3070 8 GB?
