Defqon.1 starts on thursday at 6pm, but only for those that have a full weekend-ticket. This is also where "The Tribute" happened that you reacted to as well. And then it's friday, saturday and sunday from 11am to 11pm. On thursday, friday and saturday there's also night activities such as "silent parties" where you grab yourself a pair of headphones from stands so you can party further into the night but don't disturb the people on the multiple camp sites that want to go to sleep already. From friday on there are also day visitors that can enter the festival grounds from 11am on and have to leave after the "day" ends at 11pm. So most people there do have the full weekend ticket that contains all 4 days + camping. Hope this helps! :-)
