Well, movie wise, these animals show up out of nowhere, in pairs of two, long before the ark ever gets built. They even help evan build the boat. God (played by morgan freeman) sent them there to get it in to Evan's head that hes Noah now.
But then it turns out the entire time all god wanted was not an ark but A.R.K or Acts of Random Kindness
Yeah it doesnt make much sense because why the f**k did he send the animals, the boat supplies & change evan to look like noah... but whatever ._.

I gotta say, that was a well built ark. I mean, it survived quite a bit of damage from impacting concrete and other man-made structures, and still was mostly watertight.

This movie wasn't just a comedy. God knew this would happen and didn't want so many people to die because of the negligence of one man.
But why reenact Noah's ark? What purpose does bringing every single animal on Earth serve? Other than looking strange to say the least. It would of been one thing if it was all the pets and wildlife like deer that are in the area. But lions, tigers, and bears?

A lot of questions as to why there needed to be a pair of every animal on the ark even though it was only a small town flood. In the movie, the animals helped build the ark. It was their Acts of Random Kindness -- their A.R.K. -- based not always on necessity, but most always on love.

Yeah, like The Avengers. The Cops saw aliens attacking, were shocked and after being unsure of Captain America at first, they go into crisis mode and start to get people to safety, closing down the area. It's always nice to see the good Coppers in movies and shows instead of the annoyingly corrupt/stupid ones.
This movie production was very nature friendly by the director's orders, no animals were harmed and they planted 2000+ trees to help minimize the CO2 emissions of the productions. In this scene, the director told the CGI team that they couldn't show any tree being destroyed/killed.
not trying o be a jackass, but reading the wiki of this movie, a lot of activits for animal rights were protesting from filming with certain animals etc.. also, one the actors who play's the son, got hurt from a monky scratching him. "that's just me" but i've find it great they planted 2000+trees for that etc.

I love how it started as a funny comedy and now is literally saving animals and people from floods.
One could call it a dark comedy but I guess that’s not true because until the actual flood it weighs HEAVY on the comedy then takes a 180 degree turn during the flood. Would it have worked better as a dark comedy. Personally I don’t think so. I love it just the way it is. And I say the critics SUCK. But honestly when do they not suck?

You could argue that after the events of Evan Almighty, that Offer Collins (Dean Norris) was given a promotion, and re-assigned to the DEA in Albuquerque. Evan Almighty, via a stretch, is in the Breaking Bad universe.
