I live on the florida coast. We have sharks ALL over, if you go along the coast in a plane or something you will see them only a few meters away from people not caring about the people. I still go in the water, if I get bit, I put myself at risk being there. That's how the ocean works.

Little_Lion_Heart 😁👌🏻 I live in England I can count the times I've been in the sea on one hand but if I lived in a country and area where sharks were found and entered their domain that's my fault if I get attacked, ur right though studies show sharks are mostly not even interested in us and considering how often they come into contact with ppl the attack numbers are very small

You're right but there is no denying the shark attacks which have happened, so there is ALWAYS the possibility. To be fair i used to live in perth and then sydney and ive been told stories from mad skippers on the west and east coast of Australia about sharks that big they will come up and take you whole under the depths and if nobody is looking in that exact spot at the same time, nobody will notice, they're that good at what they do.

Pretty much true. I live in an area where there have been around 5 attacks (that I know of) in the past 20 years, at least 2 of them fatal where the shark removed both legs with a single bite. Yet surfers are in the water every single day here, regardless of the season, going up the entire California coastline. If we were really seen as a viable meal, it would be like Jaws, with people getting dragged under every single day. The problem for the victims is that mistaken identity isn't going to bring back a limb or their life.

I remember as a kid my parents took the family on a vacation in the Bahamas. We took a day trip to this island to do snorkeling. The island had a beautiful reef that suddenly dropped off hundreds of feet down. A whole group of us snorkeled off the reef and enjoyed the open ocean. I spotted about 5 tiny dots moving in circles getting bigger every moment. I yelled for everyone to come back on to the reef. Turned out they were 8 foot sharks slowly making their way to the group. I can only imagine the feeding frenzy that would have happened. Wet suit or not, we almost became lunch. Watching this show it really is a matter of being aware of your surroundings and knowing how to fend off sharks. The same goes for people who venture out into the woods and mountains.

ʻAumākua is our kūpuna (ancestors) who’s spirit will take on the form of an animal such as the manō (shark) once they have passed on to the next realm. The shark is probably one of the most recognizable ʻaumākua as we are a people born and raised in the ocean. They teach us many things such as awareness, humility, and respect. So as a Native Hawaiian, when I hear people HERE going out and just killing random sharks because someone got attacked while being in the sharks home turf, I take it personally because those are our kūpuna.

I know you replied a long time ago but yes sharks definitely have brains! Think about it world wide less then 10 people die from mistakes by juvenile sharks learning to hunt! This generally happens when they're switching over from fish to pinepeds/ seals! From the instant they do an exploratory bite they released and realize they've made a mistake! When they've had experience they life 900lb seals 15 ft out of the water bitting them in half, even at times breaking their the seals backs from how aggressively these attacks are! The irony is how people want to play God an kill all the sharks because less then 10 people die world wide! Imagine that clearing the whole oceans of sharks just so people have a better place to swim! But then people kill over 100 million sharks just for fin soup! I'd rather be in the water with another shark then to be the shark in the water with another human!

There are plenty of documented incidents where Sharks have intended to prey on human. The truth is, we don't know enough of these magnificent animals to know their patterns and behaviours.
To claim they don't intend to eat humans is a dangerous statement. Let's not repeat a lie and pretend animals don't look at us as food. Sure the Ocean is there home, but how about yours. The reason why a lot of wet suits are black is because a black object absorbs light and then converts it into heat, making that object warm. Seeing as how the ocean is really cold, having a black wet suit is the default pick.

If the driver spotted a lobster we'd throw one hand up, then drop rope @ dice down @ grab the lobster, bringing it to the surface @ side of the boat to be measured . The spotter upon seeing us throw out arm up would alert the one driving the boat so they could slowly circle @ eat back to the driver. Right there front @ center at the register was an article from the local paper complete with picture of an 850 lb TIGER SHARK. "Why did the shark spit rod out? Most likely because he felt wrong". No, it's because that is how great white sharks hunt. They bite their prey, back off, wait for it to bleed to death, then come back in and eat it. That is why so many people do manage to survive attacks by great whites- when the shark backs off to wait for the person to bleed out it gives the victim a chance to escape to shore and receive medical attention, not because we don't taste right.
