Today on The Skid Factory we finalise the position of the Hartley VK56 in the engine bay and fabricate some engine mounts.
Our mate panel beater Mark then pops around to assist us in fitting some flares to Gav's Hakosuka.

I have a 1972 Toyota Crown hardtop (MS75), owned it since 1988 here in Canada. One of less than 400 sold in Canada. Rare yes, but rather than treat it like a rolling museum, and eventually run out of NOS replacement parts, I am going to restomod it with a 1JZGTE. Thanks Skid Factory for reinforcing my plans!

The gearbox mount is a work of art. Al does an excellent freehand fishmouth joint with the angle grinder while fitting it up. Top job!
this is perfection compaired to what you normally see on youtube when people cut there guards

Best project on youtube! The new mics sounds really amazing! Panel Beater Mark sures does have a steady cutting hand, absolutely perfect cuts. I'm guessing the space between there would have to be welded up or the trunk will be filled with sand, water, rocks and rubber from the tires?

I'm proud about what you guys do. And actually that's not even a rare model of c10. Couple days ago i saw a true unicorn of c10. Left hand drive 4door, called 2400gt. They made maybe only 100-200units of those.

HNnnnnng, I know its not a GTR. But its still an expensive ancient skyline. Cutting those gaurds are painful to watch. But the end result is gonna be fantastic.

Yeah, it's one of those things I wouldn't personally want or need Aussie burnout power in, but I'd sure love a GTX with the added flares and maybe an L28 or something like they made all the time in Japan. If anything I'd probably just want to update suspension and ...I dunno, 250 HP or so ought to do more than adequately.

Love this build. Haven't heard the word resto-mod yet, but that's exactly how this feels.
This car is going to be epic, wow.
Even with that it looks like you'll have to make 4 inch cuts in the inner rear. Take the BFH and hit them up flush to the guard and make the required pie shaped fillers so the inner guard (wheelwell) comes out flat to the outer guard.

This thing is going to be an absolute beauty. Never mind the hand-wringing over cutting up a classic, this isn't any different to what RWB do to classic 911s and people lap that up. This is a bit more individual, which can only be a good thing!

At the start I thought it would be easy to watch, cause it's "Just an old Datsun", but have to admit to feeling stressed watching those rear wheel arches being removed ;)
