Brilliant video - I remember the line so very clearly from the 60s when we went spotting at Grantham. must have travelled over it 7 or 8 times. Still got my ticket Derby Friargate to Grantham August 1964.

Nice video. I visited the derelict Friargate station a few times back in the 90s. My dad lived just off the Great Northern Rd

It’s an abomination that this and other railways have disappeared, they would be so valuable to us now and a way we could get the numbers of vehicles off the road.

Thanks for the film Marc, I didn't know you could compile an animated aerial view like that from Google Earth, good stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed the film, I regularly walk the section from the Paddock past the old platform and back, interesting to see it from the air. Have you thought of doing something similar for the old Derby canals? That would be worth a watch. Thanks again.

Hi Marc. Brilliant animation. Any chance you could give us a few tips on how to achieve something similar. It would save having to 're-invent the wheel' and would be great to have similar films on CZcams. Perhaps you could produce a vid talking us through your method. Once again thanks!

A fascinating "flight"! Thank you. Beautiful piano accompaniment too. Who was the performer and what was the tune?

Anotheer line which should never have been closed
Much better placd than Derby Midland for commuter traffic.
