  • I go to my favorite lake San Vicente. Can't get em on topwater, jerk baits, frogs and even the senko bite is non existent so I have to figure out a way to catch these fish! It's all about finding the pattern. The right location and the right bait equals a pattern.

Wonder if the ned would work as good as the drop shot.

Don’t reel against your drag if you want your reels to last.

nice ones. same thing i took a friend out a few times.. first couple times didnt get nothing mainly doing senkos.. so then i was like do drop shot with robo worms.. i stuck to senkos he scored like 3-4 within a hour i switched to robo worm got one but lost in on way in.. but ya finally got him a couple fish. not much luck with senkos at castaic lake either.. lots of little ones everywhere though. what time were you showing up to castaic in mornings to rent a boat and was the wait long? nice video gl on big one now is the time they should be coming up. one of us has to get a big one right. lol cya man

for sure. just light line can be sketchy. plus other ways are more fun. but it definitely does the job when all else fails!

I think our man John is just about ready for one of them DC shimanos. I too was hesitant to veer away from my trusty spinning setups, that is of course until I chucked a senko about 70 yards with zero backlash on a scorpion DC. Get it, and it will be the only setup you want to fish with. Not SLX, not Curado, Scorpion DC. ;)

funny because I just got an SLX DC! I still haven't found a good use for it.

@@ArcherFish My father got the SLX DC to test against my scorpion and it back lashed a whole lot more with a 1/4 oz weight than did my Scorpion DC, kind of defeating the purpose of paying more for DC. We both noticed the difference so he returned the SLX and got a scorpion even though the JDM thing was questionable for him. It can cast anything from a 3" TRD with an 1/8 oz head on it, to a senko, and all the way up to a light jig or jerk bait. I find it very versatile. Disappointed the SLX didn't sway your opinion.

@@jonathank5388 thanks for the info. honestly I have yet to find a need for a casting reel other than my extra heavy for swimbaits but truth be told I have barely used the SLX.
