Mate, this is the video that got me sold. Just ordered it few minutes ago. Thanks for the input! Ordered it on sale :) my main choice is the Galaxy Watch Active 2 but they're a bit overpriced in my region so I went with the GTR after watching your video.
I so love the design as I had a Huawei Watch 1 with that lean and elegant style that I sold. Since then I couldn't find a good and actual replacement. What's going on? Either no improvement in battery life, or shitty GPS, or no NFC? Theae are crucial for me. I would even accept that there's no WearOS in it.
Recently I was able to compair the GTR and teh MI Watch Color. Since I do some running, 40 k on a weekly basis, I was especially interested in the use as a activity tracker when running. And there I noticed something that I did not like, on both of them: the speed indication is very unstable. When running at a steady pace, the speed or pace indication is fluctuating within a 30% range every few seconds, making it impossible to get a reliable indication of your actual speed. Which is quite important when you take your training serious. I had a Bip before, which had a bit of the same issue. But not as bad as these newer watches. It looks like only one GPS reading is used to calculate actual speed. But at lower speeds, like when running or walking, this will cause these fluctuations. This could by compensated by using a running average, combining the average of a number of GPS readings. Why not add a setting in which you can choose how many GPS readings to use to estimate current speed?
This is really a good watch I got one back in October and still going strong battery life is between 16 to 20 days so its a once a month charge (charges extremely fast) this is really a good smartwatch!!!
I got it few days ago and the GPS is terrible. Weird that most reviewers don't even mention a GPS problem as everything is fine but if you go to any forum, comment sections of a YT video or whatever, you'll find A LOT of people complaining about the GPS issues. It seems it's a hardware problem and a poor design of the antenna. I will be testing it for a few more days and if I confirm that it sucks to the point it's unusable.. I'll just go and return it. Quite disappointed to see Xiaomi (I know it's Amazfit/Huami but under Xiaomi's umbrella) releasing a flawed product like this. I love how the watch looks but if the GPS is unusable it doesn't make it much more worth it than a MiBand which is a fraction of the price.
Have it, love it 😍. Does almost everything I need it to do. Except for 1 thing. I haven't found a way to sync my wahoo kickr snap data with the heart rate data 🤔. Still lookin for a way around that. And when that happens, beats a smart watxh, Galaxy watch any day. Battery life is king. 🎉
Love the look of it but the software could have been better to match the look. It seems abit awkward imo. ie: the always on display. And swiping from screen to screen sometimes seems abit laggy according to the video.

When you mention that it appeared in Mi Fit app after pairing it with Amazfit app, will it work as a Bluetooth relay with Mijia Security Camera Advanced 1080p? I have a Mi Band 2 which puts the camera to sleep when it detects the band nearby. Just wondering if GTR would too.
this watch got the looks, they got the curves, they got the, the chi-chi’s, and then at some point during the evening, you reach down below the belt looking to get a little hey google and you get a handful of the battle of the bulge
Just one thing didn't like, they could give an option to make the screen on all the time or the system it has now. It would look much more realistic if it was a 24/7 display option, I may have to put it in charge for every week but that is fine for me
Do you need to be on the walking for everyday use or just have it on the standard screen as I find the calories and that less when I don't set a workout
Regarding the step counter, is it counting steps on realtime? Because I have mine recently, and I observe that although it counts step very closely to accurate, it doenst count it on realtime. It only updatea I think every minute? Or when the watch turned sleep? Or elase?
Is it OLED or LCD I really hate it when people don't I show that information. It's one of the things that is most important to most people, since it will really increase battery time and just looke's mutch better.
Have 2 amazfit gtr watches here and both have the same gps fix problem(it takes quite long to fix, then it works but quite inaccurate. when i stop the workout and want to start another then I sometimes dont get any gps fix any more even after serveral retries or 10 min gps search,or reboot... ) bot on the lastet update with the PAI funktionality.
The real big problem with this GTR is that GPS takes a lot, very badly. Other smartwatches take very well in the same area and at the same time when this just isn't right. It was to be highlighted, it is a well-known thing ...😁
Hi all, looking for a smartwatch that I can keep on my arm when swimming, either in a pool or in the ocean for a 30 minutes to an hour . Can this watch do this. Even if it`s 5 ATM I read not to wear specially in the ocean. confused!
What I really care in a smartwatch is the compass coz I'm riding a bike as a Grab (Like Uber) driver, so I know where I'm facing. Is there a compass in this?
The GPS is soooo poor on this watch that even if you bring those satellites next to it it won't lock or track your route, basically GPS inclusion on this watch is a marketing stunt as i've exchanged 2 already and i have yet to see it working, it's a widely discussed problem out there, basically whoever needs GPS look elsewhere.
HELP!!!’ I bought this from gear best and have an I phone. All of my notifications work EXCEPT the sms messages. I cannot get my text messages to work on this watch after trying all the troubleshooting I could think of . What am I doing wrong ???

nicko , How to check if mine connects to my phone all the time? Anyway, it appears to me that every time I turn on the Amazfit app on my phone I have to refresh ( by touch, drag the screen down and release) it couple times before the app starts to sync and get info from my GTR. So... I would say it doesn’t connect to my phone all the time...right!
If u purchased this outside of China as an international version, it does not have an NFC chip in hardware. So even if u use the Chinese app you will not have the nfc function. I think it has something to do with government clearances.
It's a shame that it's GPS functionality is so bad otherwise it would be perfect. I've had mine since October and it's rarely managed to track my runs.

You need to pair it through Bluetooth. Go to amazfit app and choose which ever activity you want to say running. You can an option in your app to pair up, choose gtr option and on your Bluetooth..

I don't think you can store 3 watch faces. The two default cannot be changed, you can only add/change a third one.

2. PAI not working
3. Innacurate GPS
4. Innacurate barometer/altimeter

You shouldn’t use any other gadgets in the ocean even if they are water resistant. Salt water will fuck up your watches/phones no matter the price

Not having NFC is a massive deal breaker for me .

Your speech volume vs your music volume is out of sync; as in the music is much louder than the speech. perhaps a lapel style mic may help?

Got it today, didn't connect with op7t and then cleard cache data uninstalled the app and reinstalled it after doing all this it got connected.

Ordered it today, been using the bip for 6 months and it dud it's job, but it's so ugly. I should get the GTR tommorow or the day after.
