Her voice is fine. You have two sets of vocal cords the second set is called the false folds, and this is what she uses to create this growl.
Romance doesn't always equal calm. Don't take it back, that part is romantic to, at least, some people. 3 20's.

Welcome to Jinjer. That's all her. She uses her false chords for the growls. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well.
When singers learn the false cord growling technique, they don't damage their voices. They can cut back and forth with ease between cleans and growls. Tatiana is one of the best, but she isn't the only woman in metal who can do this. Because the false cords are being used instead of the vocal cords, a woman can produce a deep growl that sounds male.
Perennial live at Wacken (pronounced Vah-ken) 2019 is to shed doubt. Last song of their set too.

There is only one song where she only uses her clean vocals. Tatiana is a MASTER at the vocal switch, her growls can get very, very low. One of the most amazing band in Metal in a long time!
I can remember at least two Jinjer songs with clean vocal only - Bad Water and Beggars Dance.
And of course Tatiana sang "clean" songs beyond Jinjer. She did great "clean" covers. The latest one is "Man In The Box" of Alice In Chains, in collaboration with Suicide Silence. And there's on youtube are few very old bootlegs where very young Tati sang different covers in raggae style (some Nirvana covers and a few covers of some Russian-Soviet bands).
100% got the use of cleans and growls to show the 2 parts of the zodiac sign.

Yeah. Tatiana will always do this sheep and wolf dynamic. She sings clean and growling in almost every Jinjer song. It's her way to be gentle and punchy at the same time.

You better believe it is real. I will leave my usual Jinjer recommendations, as there are quite a few more surprises waiting, but you probably want to to Perennial live at Wacken next. First to erase your doubts, secondly for another metaphorical song with a double meaning, and because Jinjer has some pretty damn good high quality live videos (and even lower quality ones are fun).

The growling that Tatiana uses is something that has been labeled as false folds with Vocal Fry(Vocal Fry is like when singerâs use a sort of rasp typically lower in tone). It is fairly common amongst Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Vocalists to use Fry when creating lower tones. Here I believe it is a False Folds but I am not 100% sure as I am not an expert in this area just love this kind of music and have explored these styles deeper as a musician(guitar and bass primarily). To learn more about these types of Growls I would strongly recommend you check out Mark @Kardavox Academy (he even does a reaction to this song and describes very articulately what he seeâs Tatiana doing). Glad to see you guys reacting to Jinjer they are great. Hope to see more Jinjer soon I recommend their new songs like Wallflower or Vortex.

No one will fault you for looking up lyrics to jinjer songs
One of the smaller things I always look for is to see if reactors notice the change in the guitar and bass lines in the third verse. Even though itâs played a couple times prior to the video shot of Eugene (bassist) playing the ascending riff in that verse, a lot of people donât notice it until given the visual cue. Fun for me when I see a visible reaction to that.
When you watch other Jinjer videos, after the shock of Tatiana, you will find the rest of the band is awesome. Canât wait to see what you think of them live. One favorite is Whoâs Gonna Be The One live.

Good analysis. Tatiana is incredibly talented and worked for years to perfect her technique with both growls and clean singing, and is able to perform in multiple styles fluidly. Id recommend Perennial live at Wacken to see them instage performing a song of similar intensity. Someone requested Who Is Gonna Be The One official live which is my favorite song by any band but is quite a bit heavier with the focus more on growls. Subbed. Cheers!

The beauty that is Tatiana's vocals. She does this in all her songs but, a little more range due to the nature of this song.
There are quite a few female growlers currently in metal, but Tatiana is perhaps the only one who can get so low and sound male. The guys had been performing with her a nice few years by the time of this video, so naturally they are cool and casual as they are used to it!
Great reaction. Welcome to Jinjer :) I had a similar reaction to Tatiana's (vocalist) extreme vocals since I never got into that kind of singing before. I didn't know what to do with them. But over time I grew to really appreciate the skill it takes and the fact that Tatiana is one of the best out there. She is definitely my favorite vocalist of all time and Jinjer is now my favorite band. And I'm still not a huge metal fan, but I can't have enough of Jinjer. They combine so many genres and styles. It's really cool. They always keep it fresh and interesting. Very dynamic music.
I love this song. It's a good intro to Jinjer. I'm impressed that you picked up on the meaning of the song and the fact of how she is singing it with the switches being a part of the message. Not many people pick that up from the first listen. It's all about the duality of Pisces. Tatiana and Eugene (bassist) are both Pisces. Tatiana wrote most of the lyrics to this song and asked Eugene to help finish it. The rest of the band members are Roman (guitarist) and Vlad (drummer). As you can see, they are all excellent at what they do.
As others have suggested, check out Perennial: Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 - czcams.com/video/bxi3i9wzQBk/video.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords. It has some great soaring vocals. The song is about depression and coming out of it using the cycle of the seasons as a metaphor. Tatiana has said she struggles with seasonal depression in the fall.

It's about people using their position or power to tell you how to live your life even if they have no idea what they are actually talking about, just because they have fame or authority doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. A great song.

It's about climbing the "ladder of success" as our society defines it. The greed for fame, power, success at all costs and how lonely it is at the top. The whole corporate greed and corruption that comes of it.

All of their songs have a deep and multi-layered message. So definitely pay attention to the lyrics. Tatiana would greatly appreciate that. She puts a lot of effort into them and considering English isn't her native language, it's even more impressive. They don't cover the normal topics that a lot of metal or rock bands cover. They definitely have a real message they want to share about things that matter.

Angela has pretty good insights but, does anyone else get annoyed when a reactor immediately hits pause when Tatiana begins to growl? They don't give it even a second or two before pausing. Its almost as if they know what's coming and are ready to hit the pause button as fast as possible.
Once you get the lyrics and concentrate on them the growl becomes integralâŠinte-growl.

As others pointed out already she's not damaging her voice at all, since she's using a technique to growl that involves her false cords and not her vocal cords. Tatiana's been doing this for over 10 years and her vocal range is still pristine. Next you should check out "Perennial" live at Wacken, then move on to "Judgement & Punishement" Tatiana's one vocal take and then "Teacher, Teacher" live at Melrbourne. In this last one you'll see not only how it's the vibe at a concert of their own (the "Perennial suggestion is at a festival, so it will always be a different vibe), the way she engages the audience and last but not least you'll also see her doing those switches between her natural singing voice and her growls mid sentence. In the meantime, enjoy the ride.
PS. This is about as calm and sedate; as you'll ever see this band and especially Tatiana get
You guys should check out Arch Enemy for another killer female vocalist. Actually, two of them. Try Nemesis, live in Tokyo (2008, I believe), to check out Angela Gossow (now retired). She is a beast and a big influence on female death metal vocalists. The new one, Alissa White-Gluz, is great as well. I had the luck of seeing both live, they kick ass.
