The modern metal scene is doing just fine.. beyond the great new bands like Lorna Shore, Thy Art is Murder, Shadow of Intent- there are so plenty of great old bands still hammering albums out, like Gorgoroth, Marduk, Dark Funeral, & Watain.
Hell, even Judas Priest released a banger of an album in recent years.
Metal is in good hands.

Chris Wiseman is the most promising musician of our times. That man is doing and is going to continue to do amazing things with Shadow and Currents and his new thing with Ryan Kirby. Ben Duerr is the top tier deathcore vocalist in the game right now. Man makes everything so seamless and effortless and slays it every time.

I wouldn't call a guitarist for generic deathcore to be anything special imo. I'd call him average.
Selling Soul 5 Bucks You’re insane if you think SoI are generic deathcore. They’re barely even deathcore let’s be real. The death metal riffs, the solos, the orchestrations, the black metal-esque riffs far outweigh breakdowns, and it’s not like breakdowns aren’t present in death metal or anything anyway. It’s the same thing as people who call Job for a Cowboy deathcore because they released one record (an EP at that) that happened to be deathcore.
The one thing about this band is they manage to mix death metal, black metal, mello death, death core, symphonic, and ambient metal in one. And it sounds amazing!!!!

Gatekeeping is when you want to keep people out of a community and not let them know the beauty of other stuff that's rooted in more traditional forms of extreme metal. I’m in here somewhere. The wall of death was fucking crazy when they came back for the encore with Malediction. Haven’t been to many concerts but that was my first wall of death. I’ll forever remember Malediction as the song I almost died to 🤘🏻

SICK, I was just practicing vocals to this yesterday and also jamming the album the other day! Were also nearly one year since that masterpiece of an album came out!
Hands down the best metal album I've listened to in years. It has everything. I've lost count of how many times I've played it since its release.
This shows that deathcore could very interesting genre If you do more than just breakdowns
Deathcore bands have been branching out and incorporating other genres and influences for the best part of a decade, becoming less and less reliant on breakdowns. SOI, Carnifex, Lorna Shore flying the flag for blackened deathcore (arguably death metal in some cases) as an example. Even back when deathcore was the trendy thing in the mid to late 2000‘s, you had bands like All Shall Perish shredding their way along.
