BMW 128i Windshield Washer Pump Replacement $9 DIY - CLOGGED FILTER - Same Procedure for Headlights

The windshield washer sprayer stopped functioning on my vehicle (2012 BMW 128i). Though I could hear the windshield washer pump running, fluid was not sprayed. After some disassembly, I found that the filter attached to the original pump was clogged. Though a simple filter cleaning would have resolved my problem, I continued to replace the pump with a new aftermarket part from Amazon. The original pump was likely nearing expected life. After reassembly, the DIY fix was complete in approximately one hour.
This fix is similar or identical for many BMW models, including the 3 series (328i) and 5 series (528i). A similar procedure will resolve problems with headlight or rear wiper sprayers.
