    At the start you said you wanted an every day vehicle that would fit in a normal car space and a camper. That's what this is! Any small camper is going to be a compromise. For me, this would be ideal because I have an even smaller van at the moment. When I get one of these, if the sloping became an issue, I would look into getting it modified which wouldn't be that hard. It's easy enough to lower it slightly on the rear and that would help with the stepping into the back as well. Or higher profile tyres on the front and lower on the back! Each to his own I guess.

      I think your right on each to his own, really deep down I want to go back to a motorhome,

    I'd never have thought about the slope. And the lack of cupboards. Very helpful video - thanks

    Well just brought one of these we both love it. To stop banging your head on the bedding cupboards hang a bell over it to remind you to duck. Why have loads of cupboards? You only need the bare essentials Travel light, enjoy the experience and fun.

  • @exmoorbeastie
    @exmoorbeastie Před 5 lety +9

    Its only a little van, there will always be compromises. I think they've done a great job.
    The forward lean: could this be because you have the 2.2 engine which is heavier?
    My 2.0 2004 one is level. The original was designed in a time when people were, er, smaller. So it will be a challenge for those of a larger build. Get a bigger van. But bigger vans don't fit in supermarket spaces and they're more cumbersome. Horses for courses.

    We bought a Talbot Express Autosleeper motorhome. 1992 model. It suits us because of price. It was cheaper to buy than hire one for 2 weeks. Despite its ongoing problems its value for money. Design wise it's much better than a VW camper and other Motorhomes of similar age. Like video. Cheers from George and Jane

    This is just BRILLIANT! Everyone who is thinking of buying an Autosleeper camper really ought to watch this - really valid points are raised, and when I look at one next time, I will be bearing this all in mind! Thank you so much for making it!! And definitely a THUMBS UP from me!!

    • @bobshunt9
      @bobshunt9  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you so much for your comment, It's like all things in life, you have to try to see if it suits you, But trying can cost, so if there is info out there that you can use, Use it,, One thing that I forgot to mention in the video is the cassette toilet door as It comes into conflict with the side sliding door, If you open the side sliding door when your partner is off to empty the cassette then the two door collide, This can be seen in video Autosleeper Symbol Peugeot Boxer A tour of the Van Part 1 czcams.com/video/aiSVw1nEwEY/video.html
      At 14:02 Cheers now

    You should have got a four berth , plenty of storage in those and chocks to level up. All the Symbol's I have seen pre 2000 are level anyway. I banged my head getting into the drivers seat as well but I only did it once! I nearly knocked myself out🤣

  • @robertcolema
    @robertcolema Před 3 lety +2

    Brilliant reckon best use side door to get in and out.. put a 3 inch cushion on the seat, buy a table for your coffee and bend down to get in the cab also dont forget a storage box to put your feet on when you spin your passenger seat around

    I can’t stop laughing. Joking aside it’s totally true, everything you highlighted reminded me of what we had in our same design camper. Drove me insane , I was clapping when it went down the road with its new owner. I’m 5 ft 1 and my feet used to dangle off that seat. After banded heads , pinched fingers and twisted joints it had to go. 👍 for your video

    @robertfarrar469 Před 5 lety +8

    I actually thought the video was helpful! especially being 6ft tall, though at the end of the day it is a campervan and not a motorhome, hence it is a lot cheaper and there are compromises to be made.

  • @southbeach56
    @southbeach56 Před 3 lety +1

    This is the configuration I will adopt, when I build my camper van, nothing to better it for a mk8 Transit L2 H2 Fwd, the design has everything and you can park it in Tesco's car park which was emphasized more than once. I ain't got no Tardis.

  • @deehayward7630
    @deehayward7630 Před 4 lety +2

  • @lionelwall811
    @lionelwall811 Před rokem +1

    I have been thinking of buying one but you have given me lots of food for thought. You are right - where are the cupboards? And a loo door directly behind the cooker is silly. I hated that clunky side door too. Well done for making us laugh but pointing oit some real issues. If people think they can live with them that's fine, but it's useful to understand the compromises involved.

    • @bobshunt9
      @bobshunt9  Před rokem

      Yes as you say if people can live with the van then that's fine , I know there are campers out there that love these vans,

    Thanks for the video. I've just retired and there's only me so I have been thinking about this van. I think for one person, it might be okay. Lots of useful information. Is rust a big problem with these vans? What are the major things to look for when you look at one? Thanks.

    • @bobshunt9
      @bobshunt9  Před 4 lety +2

      I have see rust on some of the early models which is why I got a 2007, the last of this model as they went to the newer shape in 2007, There was no rust on the one I had, I put it on eBay for 19k but had no interest so I put it in part ex on the Valentine and got the 19k I wanted,, the dealer priced it at 25k still there last time I looked. I have a tour of the van on youtube take a look at that it may help with some info,

    maybe they all slope just like every vehicle, did you put water in the tank to see if that levelled it off??? a slight slope wouldn't bother me at all, water in the sink, no issue!, fill the cabinets with food etc, extra weight might have lowered it at the back? i'm looking at one of these right now, wouldn't bother me at all, i had a Rapido 6m Motorhome before, that slopes forward, never bothered me at all just buy levelling ramps
