Great tank but practicality was lost and seen very quickly by the first few years. if they had made panthers or more panzer IV's then there would have been just as much success as lack of numbers was always Nazi Germany's Achilles heel. One Tiger 1 vs three IS 2's would be pretty evenly balanced but it isn't a problem for the U.S.S.R as they produce them in higher quantity.

Think of this: Germany had fewer resources and a smaller industrial base compared to the likes of, say, the United States. So it’s already a given they can’t out produce them. So if you can’t outproduce them, they could at least try to create something that will kill as many of them as possible before getting destroyed. How do you do this? You improve the armour and the Gun. With regards to the poor maintenance and reliability, Germany was mainly on the defensive to begin with when the Tiger began to enter service so they weren’t necessarily concerned with attacking. (other than possibly Kursk and the Ardennes.) So taking this into account, with Germany’s limited resources, it made sense to invest Said resources meant for 5 Tanks in something that will likely kill more than 5 Tanks while it’s alive.

The only thing is that with most of Nazi Germany's ambitious designs, the requirements of were made by Hitler and we can see that in many of the designs to which there is a great look into power. I'd guess this is because he had planned that once the Third Reich had expanded sufficiently, they wouldn't need to bother about resources as much. But of course, as the war turned around fast, his lack of foresight to a slow building empire resulted in some issues. This does raise the point as to what would have come after the King Tiger if resources were good.
Good luck trying. If it's not in neutral, there's NO WAY they're going to put it up on a heavy duty lowboy to haul it without at least a 100 ton (or more) crane. All that would cost tens of thousands to do, and a rigging company isn't going to do that without money up front.

My hometown of Hamilton, Massachusetts has one of these tanks in the local park named after General Patton. Hamilton was also Patten’s home town. His family donated his estate to the town. Growing up, we used to be able to go inside the tank and play around, but it was welded shut at some point, keeping everyone out.

Trust me, towing companies that can handle stuff like this are fairly common. They usually exist to right and haul off semis. Shermans weigh about 33 tons. Fully loaded semi trailers can weigh 44 tons at max.

A regular tow truck would not be able to move it. That only means they wouldn't call a regular tow company. There are trucks big enough to do the job so it is a matter of finding someone with such a truck and hiring them for the job.
All you would have to do if the do attempt to tow it, is jump in and button up LOL, no one would even attempt to tow it (even a tank recovery vehicle) with it running!
IcantSignIn in order for him to have bought it the cannon must be inoperable. He needs a special license to have the cannon working but that removes the possibility of making it road legal. If he adds things like brake lights, head lights (which it might already have, a license plate, and rubber tracks then he can drive it around too. (Which is why it's in the wood since if it was just on the ground he could damage the road.)

Think of this: Germany had fewer resources and a smaller industrial base compared to the likes of, say, the United States. So it’s already a given they can’t out produce them. So if you can’t outproduce them, they could at least try to create something that will kill as many of them as possible before getting destroyed. How do you do this? You improve the armour and the Gun. With regards to the poor maintenance and reliability, Germany was mainly on the defensive to begin with when the Tiger began to enter service so they weren’t necessarily concerned with attacking. (other than possibly Kursk and the Ardennes.) So taking this into account, with Germany’s limited resources, it made sense to invest Said resources meant for 5 Tanks in something that will likely kill more than 5 Tanks while it’s alive.

The only thing is that with most of Nazi Germany's ambitious designs, the requirements of were made by Hitler and we can see that in many of the designs to which there is a great look into power. I'd guess this is because he had planned that once the Third Reich had expanded sufficiently, they wouldn't need to bother about resources as much. But of course, as the war turned around fast, his lack of foresight to a slow building empire resulted in some issues. This does raise the point as to what would have come after the King Tiger if resources were good.

@@justanotheraviator2357 Haha yeah right. Most tow trucks are rated to around 3-4 tons max. This tank likely weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40 tons. I don't think they could cope. Even a CMV with a flat bed would still be close on weight and they would need a crane to get it on to the flatbed.

Oh yeah, there was a lady that lived in a neighborhood that I lived in for a short time before I moved out into the country that had an old house cat. The old cat had been neutered and declawed and would only go out to crap in the ladies fenced backyard. Well there was a new guy that moved in behind her that, I guess didn't like cats, so he decided to shoot her cat in her backyard. Well new guy was seen shooting the cat with a BB gun, lady had already found 22 BB's in the cats skin and had them removed, kept them and called the police. New guy had to pay vet bills, charged and found guilty of animal cruelty, had an eyewitness testimony against him, don't remember if new guy got jail time or not. If he didn't had fines and cost of court plus attorney fees. Hmmm, I guess moral of the story, let animals in your neighborhood alone on other people's fenced property.

My hometown of Hamilton, Massachusetts has one of these tanks in the local park named after General Patton. Hamilton was also Patten’s home town. His family donated his estate to the town. Growing up, we used to be able to go inside the tank and play around, but it was welded shut at some point, keeping everyone out.

I own 12.5 acres. My house is in the center of it, long driveway, anyone driving along the driveway I can see long before they get to the house. They have to pass through a gate operated by me before they get to the house, if I don't want to see them they don't get in, my property, don't get in if not invited. Will never be a part of any HOA. I take care of my crap, you take care of yours.

Trust me, towing companies that can handle stuff like this are fairly common. They usually exist to right and haul off semis. Shermans weigh about 33 tons. Fully loaded semi trailers can weigh 44 tons at max.

A regular tow truck would not be able to move it. That only means they wouldn't call a regular tow company. There are trucks big enough to do the job so it is a matter of finding someone with such a truck and hiring them for the job.

IcantSignIn in order for him to have bought it the cannon must be inoperable. He needs a special license to have the cannon working but that removes the possibility of making it road legal. If he adds things like brake lights, head lights (which it might already have, a license plate, and rubber tracks then he can drive it around too. (Which is why it's in the wood since if it was just on the ground he could damage the road.)
