It’s with heavy heart to announce the passing of Lucy today . She lived a great life always getting in trouble all away to the end . 17 years it was a great run. RIP my sweet Lucy
Im very sorry to hear that. My dog also passed away at the start of this year. While it is hard to deal with the passing of a man’s best friend, it is important to not let that pain destroy all of the happy memories you have with her. I myself, whenever I feel grief over my dog’s passing, watch some of the videos I have of her playing around and doing zoomies, etc.. and despite how hard the ending is it reminds me very quickly why it was worth it. It got to the point where im no longer sad when I remember her, but instead im happy I got to give her a happy life. And im sure Lucy had a wonderful life, otherwise she wouldnt have made it for 17 years. Hope this helped.
That's is so sad, I watched this video four or five years ago, today I watched a video with the title "the smartest car in the world" and it's about a cat that opens a drawer to steal food, I quickly remembered about your doggie and I searched for this video to watch it again. I'm glad that you had the chance to have such a beautiful and smart doggie. Blessings!
Dogs are deaf when it comes to things like "sit", "Come back inside" or "NO NO NO NOT ON THE CARPET!", but geniuses when it comes to opening a sealed box of chocolate chip cookies from on top of a counter.
Beagles are scary-smart. Anyone who says that only humans have the ability to problem-solve has never owned a beagle. They get a bad rap because they aren't very trainable. But that does NOT mean they are stupid.
Lucy is always getting into trouble, Everyday when we got home the chair is moved and little foot prints are on the counter. Sometimes food would be missing.I always wondered how she moved the chair. A few weeks before we had company over . I had made a filet roast. We were in the other room. I was looking at my friend his jaw was wide open. He says dude your dog is in the oven. I ran into the kitchen. .Lucy was on the large oven door , chowing down on our dinner. So a few weeks later I was cleaning out the freezer found some old chicken nuggets. I had decided to set up Lucy.I set up the camera on a tripod pointing at the small toaster oven.Put the chicken nuggets in the oven turned the oven on for 12 minutes and left for the grocery store. 40 minutes later , I came home with pan on the floor . Gotcha !!!!!
If Lucy is smart enough to open an oven door . I am sure she can figure out the oven is to hot. I love by little beagle and would never cause her harm.
Rodd Scheinerman doesn't matter.. its the same thing if you knew your baby could get into a a drawer of knives. you dont set up the baby to catch him/her doing it again.. its plain stupid and irresponsible.
Lukas Fauset I know. I was in the comments section to post “perhaps the house is haunted?” They must’ve started using the camera after wondering why things are missing or moved.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is called problem solving. Clearly, we're not the only ones gifted with the ability. Think twice before treating an animal with cruelty...
Wow, I wouldn't be mad at her, she's a GENIUS! Maybe you guys can find ways for her to exercise her cunning in a constructive way, like setting up thinking puzzles for her to reach treats, obstacle courses, or see if she can learn to read flashcards or learn math. She has a great mind begging to be used, so finding a way to help her do that would be great for everyone involved! (Especially if it might help wean her off of stealing your dinners. ;) )
Some dogs it doesn’t matter how much you exercise them or do things like that with them. Beagles especially are EXTREMELYfood driven. They could’ve had 20 steaks and 5lbs of chicken....but they want the forbidden....the one thing on the counter that they smell because their nose just goes 100 miles an hour. Mine is the same way. It’s not a matter of her being bored or anything like that. Her nose gets the better of her. I like to use it as a comparison with the stereo typical cartoon, where granny is cooling a fresh blueberry pie on the windowsill, and the cartoon character animal floats in the air with some cute music and eats the pie in 3 bites whilst burning their mouth. They don’t realize they did it until well after the fact LOL. Every dog has their own personality and it happens regardless. But nonetheless, of course more activities are fun for both dog and their hooman.
We use to have a pony and one day we caught him with his head in the fridge. He figured out how to open the patio door and the fridge. Animals are smarter and have more emotions then most want to admit
Great job capturing her in the act! I love the way she gets on the island at the beginning to do some recon. She's like, "I wonder what my human has left out for me today. He was just messin' with that microwave. I'll just jump back down and put my sniffer on it. Yep. Smells like somethin goods in there." Priceless!
everybody is saying the dog is trained, but as a beagle owner myself I can tell beagles do that quite often, their lifes are run by food and there's nothing that can stop them to get what they want. they are just so stubborn, but we love them
OMG I love lucy!!! I laughed so hard at this because I have a male lemonhead beagle that looks exactly like Lucy, and I'm sure he does the same exact thing when we are not home! Time to set up a doggie cam!!
I am shocked to see how she goes up the counter and jumps all the way from there, and moves the chair. I know there is no stopping a Beagle once their mind is made up, but Lucy is amazing and adorable.
i save weblinks in a section called 'animal topics' in my computer and the beagle was there a long time now. As a tidbit i'll tell you the smartest canine - border collie.
Solutions: 1. Stop leaving food in the toaster oven. 2. Move the chairs out of the room. 3. A dog crate. 4. Motion sensing alarms with a loud and annoying sound when anything gets on any of the counters. Granted, this dog shows some amazing intelligence which means your solution to promote good behaviors will have to be as creative.
Such a brilliant dog. I know he probably wreaks havoc sometimes. But I would be proud of her. I always thought of my dogs being reasonably smart, but this is quite impressive.
They have to be trained _out_ of that, not into it. I've seen more than one dog do things like that without training. They're just after food, and their noses work well. Domesticated doesn't (automatically) mean they're stupid.
the amount of comments about the toaster oven being left on is just wow. people dont read what the uploader wrote in the description and in the comments. it heated up the food and turned off because it has a timer that he has set. Geez
Danny Corona If you believe that this isn't staged, I have a bridge... I know that this is 4 years ago and you'll probably never see my answer but someone will.
Amazing - so clever the way she gets the chair across the kitchen floor to get up onto the surface. She may have been naughty but there is no way she would get shouted at in my house for that - pure genius!!
Oh, thanks a bunch! Really! My dog was here when I watched this. She is now in the kitchen, moving chairs and studying the controls on the oven. Do you really think you should put this out there for every dog to emulate?
I give Lucky an A+😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣. Never underestimate anyone's intelligence human or animal...😂😂😂😂. I loved the way he thought why just eat one when i can eat the whole pan.🤣🤣🤣🤣
Watching this and reading some comments proved two things: 1. some dogs are awesome (actually most of them) 2. some people are complete dickheads (actually most of them), which is perfectly in line with my previous experiences.
This dog is amazing! Figuring out that by pushing the chair over to the counter that she will be able to get up there is something which I have never seen any other dog do. This takes a certain type of reasoning. This is far more clever than anything I have seen a border collie do. I clicker train dogs, and certainly I could teach a dog to push a chair, but to have a dog figure this out on her own leaves me dumbfounded! While border collies are often rated most intelligent, beagles rate down at the bottom. I think this is completely wrong thinking on the part of us humans. Border collies are obedient and love to work, while beagles need to feel motivated by something other than love or fear of their handler. I don't think that should be read as stupidity, as this performance clearly shows. I am so glad I was able to see this incredible performance of a dog using strategy to get what she desires. If this dog had thumbs she would be unstoppable!
I have had border collies and beagles at the same time, and the beagles always outsmarted the border collies, especially in food behaviors. One BC and one beagle got pretty close to the same scores in obedience trials and were both clicker trained. The BC was easier to train -- he would often watch the beagle and then do the behavior, but the beagles always stole food from him , but he didn't seem to mind.
We live with a rescued beagle. She lived on the streets for who knows how long. While she is extremely loving and seems genuinely appreciative of the nice home, she still has her street smarts about her. She has used the chair to retrieve corn chips off the counter. I've come home from work to see the chair by the counter, and a beagle with an empty bag of chips lounging on the couch.
Beagles are god damn smart. Mine has never done that, moving the chair to get up the kitchen but is probably because there is no chair in the kitchen...
You couldn't even be angry with this dog, after all that it deserves a sit down meal.

This dog needs an agent pronto. I love all dogs but this dog is in a high class. This is one brilliant dog. Even checks to make sure the chair is close enough. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing. And get that dog an agent.
No one questioning how dangerous that was to that poor dog? The owner left the oven on knowing the dog would do this, but not concerned the dog might get burned?
I love this video!! I have two beagles and I've always wanted to set up cameras when no one is in the house to see what they do but I've always been afraid that they'll just sleep the whole time! Beagles are VERY smart dogs and I don't think that enough people in the comments realize that. Let me ask you: have you ever had a beagle? Think about that before you comment on a video that "this is wrong" or "this is irresponsible. The dog can get hurt." Well don't you think, if Lucy would've gotten hurt the first time, she wouldn't have done it again? She would've learned her lesson. Like I said, beagles are very smart. And in Rodd's comment, he says that he set up a camera to catch her in the act. He had to make sure that she was doing what he thought she was doing so then he wouldn't punish her wrongly if she wasn't doing it. Beagles are very intellectual dogs and this just proves it even more. This was a clever act on both Lucy and Rodd's part although Lucy's part was a little mischievous too. :)
Apparently the dog has the run of the house. My dog would never even think of doing that. As impressed as I am, about the dog, I wonder about the owners lack of not teaching the dog boundaries, etc. After all, he's got his paws all over the table, counter, etc.
Dogs are kinda like kids in that they realize the rules are relaxed a bit if their person / people aren't around. Our dog is VERY well aware that she isn't allowed on the couch, but when we're coming home we often see her peeking out of the window- the window directly behind the couch. Of course, she's just been missing us and is happy to see us get home, so we can't be TOO mad at her about it. Of course, when we're home, she never gets on any of the furniture.
Here is the deal... The reality is that you wanted to know how she was doing it... and now you do. The timer went off at 26 seconds... it had a little over 2 minutes to cool down. Most dogs wont tell you they got burndt.. most likely it will snuggle more. Depending on personality some will snap at pain some will not let you know at all. She isn't going to learn from it. So as a responsible adult you would not leave food in the oven and on when you leave from now on. That said the video was great and hilarious.. I would keep the videos going but only to see what she does when your not home. As in not being prompted... I would also train her in tricks. She is obviously smart enough to do some good ones. :O)
Wow. I can see why that pup was sent to the backyard. Still, I have to give the dog credit: setting that chair up for the jump and then raiding that toaster oven was brilliant.

This comment deserves more appreciation.
Lukas Fauset I know. I was in the comments section to post “perhaps the house is haunted?” They must’ve started using the camera after wondering why things are missing or moved.
Spooky.

There is a sign of intelligence on this planet. I couldn't tell with all the other comments.
I'm not sure I even would have been mad. That's one smart dog.
We had to lock
our fridge because our dog learned how to open it
you lick your fridge?
Lol. Yup
Chubby Cow I had to do the same.
I think the title of this video should have been "My beagle is a freaking genius"
Not shown in this video: How Lucy put the chicken nuggets into the oven and turned it on in the first place.
clearly explaimed above
paul jackson issa joke
Yes hahaha
They’re going to have to buy her oven mitts
Today nuggets... tomorrow the Swiss bank vault!

This was soooo funny...lol. I have watched 4 times. My son watched and applauded the dog...lol Thank you for sharing this!
After all that work... She earned 'em!
Thanks. Your dog made my day!! Can't stop smiling. So cute. :-))

Priceless!
With just a little bit of training, I think this dog could make the chicken McNuggets himself.
Your dog is VERY smart!! Totally enjoyed this video! Thanks for posting! :)
he didn't even close it, BAD DOG!
XD As if this video weren't cute/funny enough, this comment has made my day.
this dog is very very clever
Yes yes ....
everybody is saying the dog is trained, but as a beagle owner myself I can tell beagles do that quite often, their lifes are run by food and there's nothing that can stop them to get what they want.
they are just so stubborn, but we love them
How fun! Thank you for sharing. Dogs are awesome!
OMG I love lucy!!! I laughed so hard at this because I have a male lemonhead beagle that looks exactly like Lucy, and I'm sure he does the same exact thing when we are not home! Time to set up a doggie cam!!
Really clever using the chair like that, shows planning and use of a tool. I would be wondering what the hell went on when I got home too!
Lucy is a smart dog, for sure!! Now if she could only learn how to wash the pan and put the chair back!
That so funny! The beagle is so smart!
I am shocked to see how she goes up the counter and jumps all the way from there, and moves the chair. I know there is no stopping a Beagle once their mind is made up, but Lucy is amazing and adorable.
What a smart doggy! Thanks for sharing, you lucky Lucy owner ( or not... ;-) )
Amazing. This Beagle definitely lives up to its breed. The best example of what Beagles will do for food. Just anything!!!
If Lucy ever has pups, I would love to talk business!! Brilliant wee adorable stinker you've there!! ^.^
who leaves their oven on when they aren't home? clearly the dog is smarter than the owner.
After this video Charlie is not allowed to the kitchen anymore! :}
Beagle without crazy idea not a beagle :}}
Now if she could do the dishes your all set! This was great thanks for posting!
Doggie court would rule she was framed! LOL
Tim
Had a Beagle as a child. I remember how her nose always won her the prize! They really do "follow their noses..." The chair jump was adorable...
I bet this dog can play Portal 2.
Don't be fooled. He was only wasting time for the nuggets to cool down.
exceedingly well trained canine.
i save weblinks in a section called 'animal topics' in my computer and the beagle was there a long time now. As a tidbit i'll tell you the smartest canine - border collie.

This!!!
5. keep the damn dog outside, where he feels most comfortable.
Anakin Skywalker Because it's a set-up for CZcams. Puts oven on and leaves. Oookay.
Beagles are inside dogs...just ask them they’ll tell ya
This beagle is WAY smarter than me, Imma tell you that... :)
Such a brilliant dog. I know he probably wreaks havoc sometimes. But I would be proud of her. I always thought of my dogs being reasonably smart, but this is quite impressive.
She is the cutest little thing. (Chuckle!!!) With a face like that, I couldn't get mad at her. ~ :-) Sweet little beagle. ~ :-)
I for one, welcome our new Beagle overlords.

Gin Sokol - Your tears are delicious.
THIEF! BEAGLEZEZZ! WE HATEZ IT FOREVER!
Wow!!! So smart! I love this! I love how the dog is thinking how to get to the toaster oven! So cool!
A Beagle no doubt, amazing cunning. I have one, tells me when the cats of the house are stealing something in the kitchen
Adorable
Puppies are always hungry, Cat Breaks In
That's funny! And adorable!
OMG!!!!!!!!!! She is awesome, so smart and funny. Congratulations. :)
A beagle's nose will compel it to do some amazing things obviously. My favorite breed of dog, hands down
Alright who was the one that ate my food, and don't blame the dog.
This dog is amazing! She sure made me laugh! I would be so proud to have her as my pet! You are a lucky guy!
I think she was just hungry and that's a smart dog
Amazing! lol
10 points for cleverness!
An "F" for behavior :-)
Makes me wonder, what was left in the oven? On purpose by chance?? Maybe?
set up and well trained dog.......but fun to watch anyway.
Clever or trained dog ?
They have to be trained _out_ of that, not into it. I've seen more than one dog do things like that without training. They're just after food, and their noses work well. Domesticated doesn't (automatically) mean they're stupid.
Woah..... This makes me question my whole life
I am amazed by this dog's wit! She's adorably naughty... lol
Lucy is smarter than many of the commentors! The owner clearly explained that he was trying to see how she was accessing the food. Very cool!
If I ever need a designated driver I'll call Lucy!
dog is like "I shouldn't do this, i'm a bad dog if I do this. FUCK IT CHICKEN NUGGETS!!"
Haha what a smart dog.I love it
What a clever naughty girl.
2:38 jup it is on the floor, now it is okay for me to eat it.
the amount of comments about the toaster oven being left on is just wow. people dont read what the uploader wrote in the description and in the comments. it heated up the food and turned off because it has a timer that he has set. Geez
Danny Corona If you believe that this isn't staged, I have a bridge... I know that this is 4 years ago and you'll probably never see my answer but someone will.
Fuck you and your cat! It's REAL TO ME DAMNIT!
Such a smart doggy :)
That is one smart dog. I really enjoyed watching your dog "manage" the steal!
So this dog is human! :O) The little fellow worked a puzzle! He is a clever little booger and soooo smart! His motivation is food. haha
You are just mad that your cat couldn't do something like that.
Boxhawk er
You might have a point there. LOL This dog is so adorable!
the noises when the dog eats XDD
Dogs are very smart and adaptable to any environment. Can set your wrist watch to a dog's routine. Simply amazing.
Amazing - so clever the way she gets the chair across the kitchen floor to get up onto the surface. She may have been naughty but there is no way she would get shouted at in my house for that - pure genius!!

Hahhaa!! Incredible!! I love her :)
I thought only primates could think up how to use tools. I was impressed when our three year old daughter did the same.
What a clever doggy!
Watching this and reading some comments proved two things: 1. some dogs are awesome (actually most of them) 2. some people are complete dickheads (actually most of them), which is perfectly in line with my previous experiences.

Taylor Aulicino Who are you to decide what gender this dog is ? fuck you
ayy lmao lol holy shit. the person who posted the video calls it a "she" so...
edit: i dont even care that comment was so funny
Taylor Aulicino ikr, her problem solving tactics were brilliant, excluding the result
Beagles are god damn smart. Mine has never done that, moving the chair to get up the kitchen but is probably because there is no chair in the kitchen...

I'm always hearing how pigs are smarter than dogs.
After this, I'm Really gonna have to call B.S. on that one.
А я всё ждал, что она обратно СВЧ закроет и стул придвинет на место.
Wow Rod, your Lucy is smarter, or more driven(!) than my
Lucy Beagle! Surprised she didn't answer the phone! Love it....
I have a beagle & can totally see her doing this. Hilarious. Mahalo for sharing!
No one questioning how dangerous that was to that poor dog? The owner left the oven on knowing the dog would do this, but not concerned the dog might get burned?
Clever girl..
Saw this on tv and wanted to see it again. Funny
the way she moves that chair! Such a smart dog.
I love this video!! I have two beagles and I've always wanted to set up cameras when no one is in the house to see what they do but I've always been afraid that they'll just sleep the whole time! ooo little teaser! Look at him ! I would never think a dog can be so inteligent !
Oh hell no! Dog on kitchen table where me and the family eat and the counter tops? Can you say " exiled" to the back yard?
Wow. I can see why that pup was sent to the backyard. Still, I have to give the dog credit: setting that chair up for the jump and then raiding that toaster oven was brilliant.
Dogs are smart. He look like he was measuring the distance of the chair and counter.
Who's cooking if no one is home?
I don't know why, but the sound of the chair scooting is hilarious. haha
The dog EARNED that chicken.
