Hybrid stringing is taking two different strings and combining them in your tennis racket setup. In this video we discuss how it works, some examples, and some general guidance on the hybrid stringing process.
For most players a hybrid string setup makes the most sense. Full polyester might be too stiff and lack the power and feel your looking for but a full bed of synthetic, natural gut, or multifilament might just be way too much power so a hybrid is a logical choice.
Hybrid stringing is essential a tempering process. Your mains contribute to about 80% of the playability (at least on ground strokes and spin serves) so it's a question of what string you want the effects of more. For a lot of players a polyester main with some kind of multifilament cross is the way to go. For those looking to spend a little more tempering natural gut mains with a polyester cross also makes a lot of sense.
