    Are there a lot of young adults that live in Charleston? Want to make sure it’s not mostly tourists before move

      Yes there are! Charleston’s job market is growing, there’s a lot of fun things to do, and it has a nice nightlife scene which have all caused more young adults to move here. Not to mention there are a number of universities in the area. It’s definitely not all tourists!

    Is it true you can get a %5.5 interest rate on a new build house compared to the %7.5 interest rate on older houses ? the interest rates here have gone crazy too. Luckily I am not effected.

      Yes builders will often use different strategies to keep the interest rate lower for the buyer than they’d get with a resale home. However, this cost is offset somewhere else in their pricing so I always recommend that people get a full breakdown of the costs with a traditional lender to compare financing options. And that’s good you’re not affected! The rates have been a big contributing factor for the lack of inventory here in Charleston.

      @@KatarinaWestRE thanks Katarina. From experience best to stay away from a new build or only if it's been lived in at least five years. New builds tend to be built quickly and have problems which surface later like subsidence, cracks etc. I asked because a Charleston area realtor mentioned it I guess to get interest. I've booked 10 days downtown in September after Spain. Looking forward to seeing the architecture again especially on my favourite Street, Legare Street.

      @@chris3341 That's why we always recommend pre-drywall inspections. Builders say they have the homes inspected because they have to, but often the county inspectors spend a total of 5 minutes looking at a home. Some have been known to not even go inside. Inspectors that are pre-drywall certified can find building issues before they are hidden by the drywall. So important! And yeah that makes sense. And yay, that's exciting! Glad you get to see your favorite street soon!
