Moments like this (25 minutes of moment in this case) are why the people that love this band, love this band. It doesn't happen ever song, or perhaps not once in a show.. but when it does, it's an almost religious experience, if you're there in person. One of the best bands ever to be a band

Phish's light rig is the coolest thing ever. I saw Phish at the Merriweather two weeks ago & took 200 Mike's of good clean LSD. The light rig had me totally mindfukked. The Music was incredible of course but for me the best part of the show was watching what Chris Kuroda can do with the light rig. I've never been so totally transfixed by a bands light show. Thank you Phish for such an amazing Psychedelic experience.
Sounds sad to me because you're basically saying you had a great time on drugs watching lights. I go to Phish shows because I love the music. Though the jams aren't as crazy and emotionally deep as they used to be, I'm still a huge fan of the music and experience only had at a Phish show. But it's a free country you can like what you like.
I was at this show- it was a really good one for sure. I was hoping for a long jam, however I did not think Free was going to be the song that they did this for. I was surprised when they went off after they "finished" the tune. Among other highlights, which includes more great jamming, was the a capella opener of Strawberry Fields Forever, and the mid first set YEM. This band is so good and anything is fair game with them.
Dude this some bomb they didn't kill it this hard on the April 1994 tour, or 96....maybe in 97 we started to see the future of 2022. It's hard to believe..seeing all the shows from red rocks to bakers dozen. I wish I could see them all. NYE 94, VA BCH 97...DEER CREEKS, Alpine Valley so many years..caught Nov 97 st Louis. Its a great move to build tension but not a hard run technically. He’s just running just running down then up the Bb Dorian scale with 1/16 notes, then resolves on the 1. The bands on point for catching Treys cue and hitting that 1 with him. That’s why phish is the best though. They are all masters of non verbal communication through listening and responding
Listening to this recording for 25:08 and never heard, "I'm floating in the blimp a lot", but you know what? That 25:08 was time well spent. Love this band and what they do.

what a great show!!! but i actually enjoyed myself yes I me YOU whatever I loved Blossom 2019 better than 2022 2015 beats us both but I lived in MD still and got the MPP 2nd night show and missed the epic NO2 craziness 8-14 and was at 8-15 I love Shine a Light I hate the Stones but that song and Torn and Frayed are my 2 favorites nope NOT loving cup it is great but not legendary 6-19-2019 The Birds of the Feather I loved that Jam more than this FREE even. . the Chalkdust ARRGGGG Trey Pirate forgetting the lyrics in a fashionable way and making it funny making the mistake almost seem on purpose was adorable for all the kids out there in love w JDepps Captain Sparrow. . . The Slave was so gorgeous not jam worthy but so pretty and played perfectly and the Life beyond the Dream I have only enjoyed THAT particular version the debut that first Phish version that Guitar Solo was so blissful a MUST listen to and then the SOAM was great as the set closer 2022 but I loved even more hearing the first ever ENCORE of SOAM since 1991 the dream was just the cherry on top with that gorgeous bliss that was Treys guitar solo i listened to that on repeat for like 4 days after 2019-6-19 This show FREE had an amazing SaSS and YEM was almost perfect my best one to date live was 7-30-2003 strange that it came from that year a must listen to show the 2nd set is only 4 songs and all 4 are epic in sound quality jam worthiness. . .and the rarities in set 1 my second favorite show i attended behind only 6-27-2010 MPP 10-29-2017 my all time favorite attended show Cars Trucks Buses being the opener I never would have guess that would be my fav with that opener like a Crowd Control or Friends opener but there are gems uncut in that year (2003) only 2004 sucked every show minus 6-19 and 20 was tolerable piss in the ears with Pages dad on stage for Fathers day the special treat! From the beginning to 3:52 is composed. Then they improvise within a loose structure until 5:26. From 6:28 on, they begin improvising again, probably without any plan. Usually, after the 5:26 point, the improvisation is over and they finish the song. This is the only time they've extended the song beyond that point.
i'm trying to figure out who sucks more, phish or the grateful dead. i think its a "tossup" , but Phish seems to sing more in tune. That's not saying much

Yea you are. Well, a few of us noticed. And he was tuning it during the Esther verse hah. I enjoyed the show but I don’t rate it nearly as highly as the mob seemed to. But Free is def the highlight for me!
I noticed. It stays out well into the jam too. Its actually pretty rare to hear one of the Languedocs go out of tune. He even said the newest one has an improved tuning setup. I like hearing a mistake here and there and reminding myself that they is human.
@@kevinr.3542 it’s honestly what I thought during parts of the show (a big moment being page flubbing bad in PYITE and Trey noticeably irked, fishman laughing lmao). These guys are human! Im in the minority but I didn’t rate the show super highly. The acapella opener was not good, some flubs, not a huge amount of improv (this free was really the only space explored), Esther which I really don’t enjoy tbh (and Ttey doesn’t seem to know the solo yet despite 3-4 spins at the wheel since MsG lolll) and a SOAM robot jam that I’m not a fan of (I know others love the robots talking sounds but not for me) Anyway I had to be a cynic. This band sooils me too much. Still a decent show with some moments and a very fun of course!!
My favorite song to hear live…. It’s always good…but his one left me a little underwhelmed. They start off kind of lazy, come alive a bit but then just let it die. Oh well, onto the next one.
I love this performance, but Trey's out of tune guitar really bothers me and pulls me out of it. I feel like that's been an issue with this latest iteration of the Languedoc, the one he got during the pandemic. Am I the only one who has difficulty losing myself to the music when his guitar is out of tune?

Awesome. Phish found a groove for 4 minutes out of the 25. Amazing! The other 21 minutes is just OK. Garbage compared to the Bathtub from 7/29/98 or the Ghost from 7/23/97. Or the (insert any great Phish jam from 1990-2015). If this is a "top 3 jam" from the summer, I'm glad I didn't waste my money going to see them this summer.
Lol I love that you’re comparing this to 2 of the best jams of all time for Phish. Totally realistic comparison. If your bar is the 7/23/97 Ghost then you’re going to be disappointed 99% of the time. The tour’s been solid, and excellent since Blossom.
If you don’t like it…don’t listen to it. Personally I’m glad they aren’t performing the exact same way they did in the 90s. I would have lost interest a long time ago if they replicated the same style for 30 years.

The acapella opener was not good, some flubs, not a huge amount of improv (this free was really the only space explored), Esther which I really don’t enjoy tbh (and Ttey doesn’t seem to know the solo yet despite 3-4 spins at the wheel since MsG lolll) and a SOAM robot jam that I’m not a fan of (I know others love the robots talking sounds but not for me)
Anyway I had to be a cynic. This band sooils me too much. Still a decent show with some moments and a very fun of course!!

My favorite song to hear live…. It’s always good…but his one left me a little underwhelmed. They start off kind of lazy, come alive a bit but then just let it die. Oh well, onto the next one.

I love this performance, but Trey's out of tune guitar really bothers me and pulls me out of it. I feel like that's been an issue with this latest iteration of the Languedoc, the one he got during the pandemic. Am I the only one who has difficulty losing myself to the music when his guitar is out of tune?
I agree it's out of tune, really surprising... I haven't noticed it aside from this show tho. However, he's not playing the new guitar here, he's playing Koa 1 (1996).
Yes dude came here to say this. The high e is out of tune for sure. I was thinking the main jam was cut short because of it, but he never tuned it haha.

Awesome. Phish found a groove for 4 minutes out of the 25. Amazing! The other 21 minutes is just OK. Garbage compared to the Bathtub from 7/29/98 or the Ghost from 7/23/97. Or the (insert any great Phish jam from 1990-2015). If this is a "top 3 jam" from the summer, I'm glad I didn't waste my money going to see them this summer.

Lol I love that you’re comparing this to 2 of the best jams of all time for Phish. Totally realistic comparison. If your bar is the 7/23/97 Ghost then you’re going to be disappointed 99% of the time. The tour’s been solid, and excellent since Blossom.

If you don’t like it…don’t listen to it. Personally I’m glad they aren’t performing the exact same way they did in the 90s. I would have lost interest a long time ago if they replicated the same style for 30 years.

And yeah, I didn't think this jam was that great. Or do you just want to only see reviews from people who think that every version of every song was the best ever? That every show was a life altering experience??
