It’s so cool that Fai (arguably the simplest hero in the game) can still inspire such in depth analysis when it comes to sequencing and squeezing value out of each turn cycle. The debate on arsenal AoW for tunic was interesting.

Something I love about this channel is showing people how deep Fai can be. A lot of his turns are intuitive but you can absolutely fall into the trap of playing the simplest line and failing to recognize the value you get from an unintuitive sequence.

I know you already talked about about the hand at 15:40 being better if you had a Flame in arsenal, but it’s worth noting that it would have also gave you the 3rd chain link to pick up the second Flame for another four points of damage. So overall would have been an extra 5 damage, which is pretty big since she survived at 5 and then threw a big turn.
Can’t blame you for line you took, as being able to bottom a Phoenix Flame to an E-Strike is one of the best feelings ever lol

It isn't the first time I've played a suboptimal Phoenix Flame line and got punished by drawing Spreading Flames the next turn... Definitely a huge damage leak and something I need to clean up, but at least it's a defensible mistake! 2 damage and empowering the next Flamecall isn't terrible.

@@Lupinefiasco yeah definitely a hard call to make since technically either way could end up being better based off whatever the next hand ends up looking like.
It’s a funny position where running only 2 Phoenix Flames makes the decision making that much weirder since you more Flamecalls. But then it’s probably not worth running the 3rd flame and risk the chance of drawing it

@@Lupinefiasco You drew Spreading Flames so we say you misplayed, but if you drew Flamecall we would have called you genius lol

Thanks for the video, I love your channel. I am wondering if the E Strike block instead of Tunic would have helped. It would have pumped the second saber attack up by 1 so you would have been on 1 less life and next turn a Tunic block would not have been enough to block the Hot Streak. So blocking to not pump the saber makes some sense at least and I don’t think it mattered in the end.

Thank you so much! I should have been more clear, but I would block the saber with e-strike AND Shuko to cover the (what is now) 4 damage. Tunic and e-strike both work with Shuko to prevent Kassai from getting her gold, but they both contribute to an 11-damage turn from me. The difference is that Tunic sticks around as an additional point of armor.

@@Lupinefiasco Thanks for the response. The problem is that even if you block out the first saber attack, the buff from blocking with an attack sticks around. So the second saber swing comes in for 4 instead of 3, adding 1 damage to Kasai''s turn. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Honestly it’s unlikely, at least for now. It burned me bad at Cincinnati for not having as much raw damage, and now we’re playing in a meta where meta decks have so much armor.

It was a good way to lose! If we’re going to take an L, let’s learn how to not let it happen again. Recognizing the value leaks is a lot better than losing because Kassai high rolled us.
