Zions Setup is so good you could just stare at everything he has in the background and still have a good time.
I have a full set of the FF7 retro figures, the little black plastic discs are weights. They put them in the blind boxes to make them all weigh the same so you can't cheat and weigh boxes to know which figure is inside- pretty smart.
Good idea for sure but they should have just made all the figures the same weight, less wasteful.
Not gonna lie, but as a game collector, one that collects game with emotional value to me, I teared up a bit with your reaction showing the Earthbound game... This was such an amazing video, that joy, the joy of collecting video game stuff and treasuring everything, that's what playing games and having an emotional connection to them means ❤️

This video was very wholesome. I'm not a 'big' gamer per se. I'm 30 years old but I only got into (Nintendo Switch) games about 2 years ago and have been enjoying the ride ever since.

I swear, every time you post a video on here, I think to myself "Wow, Zion is like the nicest guy ever. I'm glad he's doing well!" The same of course can be said about your fellow Nintendo Life creators, but it's always just so uplifting to hear from you and whatever you've been up to. You always have such a bright and positive way of storytelling and sharing your interests. And the content you create is always very clearly something that you're really passionate about and that you think will mean something to a lot of people. Just wanted to say I appreciate you and I'm glad that life has been treating you well. Congrats on obtaining the holy grail of your collection. You definitely deserve it! And the way in which you obtained it is a testament to not only the special bond that EarthBound fans have with one another, but also the camaraderie between all the wonderful people at Nintendo Life!
Earthbound was one of my very first Super Nintendo games. I ended up buying the Super Nintendo from a friend who sold it to me with 2 controllers, the system, power adapter, cable to hook to the TV and 4 games. The games were Super Mario World, Mega Man X, Toys (based on the Robin Williams movie) and Earthbound. I even got the big box and everything with Earthbound. Unfortunately, the box didn't last because of my little brother and some of his friends. I held onto the game and strategy guide for a long time but eventually, I ended up getting rid of my Super Nintendo and moving on to the Playstation. I think I gave it to my little brother but, he didn't keep anything.
I do remember one time while I was working in 2000/2001, I was browsing the video games at the store I worked at. I was looking at Playstation games but, something caught my eye that had fallen behind the shelves of one of the displays. I asked if I could see what it was and it was exactly what I thought. A brand-new sealed copy of Earthbound. I asked the clerk how much it would be and they said they would have to check. Unfortunately, it was no longer in the computer system. They said they would check with the manager and they gave me a price of $75. Unfortunately, I didn't have that much on me that day. I told them I would come back. Of course, when I came back, they had already sold it. I was really disappointed. I'm the one that spotted it behind the shelves. They didn't even know it was there. I just feel I should have gotten some say in it.

The black circles in the FFVII figurine boxes are weights to prevent people from being able to tell which character is in each box. Kind of a messed up thing for Square to do if you ask me- big waste of plastic.
11:30 - I think the Zelda: Melodies of Time CD was a free gift in the Nintendo Official Magazine UK. I've got a copy of it somewhere in a box
Its either that or it was a purchase from the Nintendo Europe website where you could use exchange points (stars) for items on the website that you could get from purchasing Nintendo games/hardware - much like the current Platinum/Gold Coins
I wasn't the biggest fan of Zion when I first started watching this channel. But now, I think he's the best commentator and face of, Nintendo Life. Keep up the amazing work you do Zion.
I really love that you open boxes and scratch the scratch-and-sniff spots; so many people collect things and preserve them just as they are, which is commendable, but sometimes… a little sad? I LOVE that you really enjoy and interact with the things you have, and enjoy them as they’re meant to be enjoyed. ♡

It's funny seeing the development of Zion, like from the early days were he almost looked like he was crying in his videos, to opening up and getting more and more jokey in them and then to finally completely unleashing the nerd within him, getting excited about plushies. 😂 I'm also a very avid retro collector and regularly freak out to a similar extent whenever I find myself something I've ever wanted. Like a CIB Spice Orange GBA or a player guide of Banjo Kazooie

I played Undertale a couple months ago, so I feel like I didn't fully appreciate it without the Earthbound context.
Zion, I love this video so much especially the part with you opening the gift of a CIB Earthbound. The people with you in that really love you and that’s what made me tear up, all of them gathering and expressing their love for you and the work that you do. And I loved the rest of the video too with the explanations of how you communicated with others, traded with others and simply bought things, it was the in detail descriptions of how you acquired said item that had me interested. Zion you sound like a hell of a guy and keep on doing you dude!

I remember my mom driving me around to sooo many stores to pick up a copy of Final Fantasy 3/6. Buying my own copy of Earthbound when I was in 7th grade and then receiving Chrono Trigger for my birthday in 8th grade. Oh the memories. Thanks for the memories and jealous of the plushies.

If it's of interest to you, the deck of Dishonored cards isn't a tarot deck but instead an 'in universe' card game, 'The game of Nancy', which came packaged in with the special edition of the original release. I've never managed to get around to learning how to play my copy, so can't say whether it's any good - but it's a cool thing nonetheless.

I got both FF3 (6) and Chrono Trigger at Last Stop CD shop in Sioux Falls in the early 2000s on one of their occasional "everything 50% off sales". Had been eyeing them both for several months, and was able to get them for $30 and $15 respectively... Was so happy, and they've both been extensively played
the little black discs in those FF7 blind boxes are used to weigh out the boxes to be pretty equal to one another. that way, people cant tell what character is in which box!
Virtual Boy Nintendo Was Only 2 Years In Stores With 6 - 8 Games Also When You Play The Games The Only Color In The Games Were Black And Red.. It Is Sad To Know That Virtual Boy Did Not Do So Will

I have never played any of the Earthbound games before, until recently when Beginnings on NES, and its timeless sequel on SNES were added to the Switch virtual library.

Like I hardly play videogames today, but when I was 9 I started drawing Yoshi over and over. Like it led me to become a professional artist, and I have Yoshi's Island to thank. It's amazing what joy videogames can bring into our lives, and videos like this remind me of starting all those years ago. Thank you Zion for the joy you bring to the world!
Man, congrats on your Earthbound copy. I have one with the original game and the guide (without the scratch sniff cards), but my box is a repro in real size. It's hard to buy one in a condition like yours here in Brazil...

I liked seeing Pac-Man Party. An old memory resurfaced from when I played Pac-Man party with my five year old neighbor and his friend in their basement. The two kids for some reason absolutely insisted calling all the ai controlled characters the “T.V.”, and thought I was out of my mind for telling them it was actually a computer on the Wii console.

The little base looking things are from what my understanding from popmartket figures they are weights so you can't easily figure out what figure your gonna get.

Zion got great stuff, but the earthbound gifts, I was even surprised by that. Maube Zion could make a short Earthbound stop motion video with Alex, Feliz and Kate voice dubbing the earthbound main characters in their quest to find Lucas and Claus.

The Zelda CD could be purchased with the Nintendo points they used to give you for buying GameCube and GBA games. You could order the CD from the Nintendo club (at least in the UK you could). I think it was around the time of original release of The Wind Waker.
I'm playing Earthbound with Fangamer's strategy guide, and I can confirm that it's absolutely amazing.

I played Pocky & Rocky Reshrined with no knowledge of the prior games, and it was a blast. I enjoyed it through and through. I hope you get to play it soon! It's not that long, i think it's at least 3 or 4 hours long if you don't struggle in the stages that much.
