I can admit when I'm wrong! Apparently you CAN catch the seed in the desert by jumping before the platform falls, I had no idea. Also there's apparently some pit coloring differences where the spike dance pit is, I'm blind to that kinda stuff. I'll still stand by my opinions of why I didn't like them though.. desert chase could've been more like a chase and spike dance was still not super obvious
I remember for that one, I accidentally jumped off of the trapdoor thing and over the wall, collecting the seed earlier than normal and was confused at how short the Wonder event was. Also, for the Shova mansion Wonder event, I was stuck for ages and lost so many lives because of how confused I was about how to survive it. I even whipped out a second controller to see if two people could push the Bowser statue at the same time (Obviously wrong). I think I had to google the level or something because I was so lost. ALSO also, I remember the shooting star Wonder event in the third level giving me a HEADACHE. There was so much going on and the constant powerup noise and music and increasing the time limit and the talking flowers all combined were killing me.
Actually, for the Spike one, you can tell it wont kill you because there’s no black bar at the bottom of the screen. In other levels, that black bar indicates a bottomless pit. There’s also a blue flower bud that will also hint that you can go down there
Actually the sinking pipe for the spike room is indicated, just left of it is one of those event flower buds that you can see cast its power somewhere below the pipe, so when I first played the level and saw that I immediately knew I had to go down there somehow, so I did
Something that would make the quiz wonder effect more wonderful was if it was closer to the end of the game, separating the final world and the castle, is a level that is just an abandoned studio, all grey, dusty, and pretty short, you’ll probably need to search really hard for the purple coins but it’s when you are near the end, a few blocks lead up to a pull chain that will raise the curtain and toss a wonderflower on the ground, and as you touch it, the entire studio comes to life, a spot light shines at the stage and a Koopa in a top hat walks out as an audience of enemies flood the room. You are placed on the stage along with 10 other contestants. You will be asked 10 trivia questions, before answering you will have the choice of 3 categories. Location, knowledge and History Location will show you a snapshot of a level you previously played and you have to guess where it came from. Knowledge will test you on how well you know the game, from level details to the mechanics of power ups and level obstacles. History is the hardest so it is worth 2 questions, it will ask you a question about other Mario games, from an adventure that came to Mario in a dream to a time where Luigi trotted the globe for knowledge to save his bro. Each answer you get right will squish one of the opponents, you yourself have 3 shots to get at least 7 questions right
For the desert chase effect, there is a way you can catch it earlier, you can use the drill powerup to cross over the floor that dumps you down and then grab the seed straight away, you might also be able to get it with the jet run badge

Now that I think about it, the spike concert Wonder Effect thing should’ve been a break time or bonus level, kinda like the Ninji jump party level. Also, random idea but imagine if there was a level that had a Wonder Effect focused around a Lakitu storm, just dozens of Lakitus coming in out of nowhere. Or maybe if they all became Lakithunders and rained lightning down at you instead of throwing spinies.
Walls are not something you normally push. The fact that the giant bowser statue’s about to crush me led me to believe that’s what I need to deal with, not the wall. And you have a limited amount of time to figure it out. Unless you don’t mind losing a bunch of lives, this isn’t something you’d want to waste your time on.
They could have made the falling pipes one moree ineresting if they gave them faces like in level 1 and make them act kinda like thwomps and then maybe some of the pipes crawl around and follow you or they literally could have given the pipes eyes and just given them an expresiion that makes them look like they're intentionally slamming down and it would've been more acceptable!
The first freefall might've been bad, but the 2nd one in the secret world is significantly better with actual obstacles to dodge. The slowdown effect is just there for a laugh for like 3 seconds, then it's just boring, literally just making the stage slower. Honourable mention goes to the extra hoppo wonder effect, which while silly, can be completed in like 2 seconds with the tight jump.
I feel like the speed wonder effects where you speed up and slow down things around you are both deserving of top 5. Honestly idk which one I hate more. They can be easily interchangeable. Just like some of the other wonder effects Danny showed, they just feel like they were running out of time
These Wonder effects were quite good for me - and most likely for others. It proves that out of the many planned Wonder effects, the ones we got were the best. There were no bad ones. Except for that Goomba one. I HATED IT.
imo the worst part about the wall pushing wonder is that the bowser statue in the final level was unpushable, and since i was getting this wonder seed after beating the game, it was pretty much a forced death with the flower only hinting what to do after i died...
Rejected update idea: add talking flowers to SMM2! place down your own talking flower and type in text for the flower to say to the players, or generate text powered by an AI that definitely wont go evil! The players will have so much fun being doxxed by the flowers! (im thinking in the end, the AI flower's eyes will go red and start shooting munchers at the player like the sniper bros but with no cooldown)
The only one I have hated in my game experience (im on mid world 2) is the one where you have to jump from coloured block to coloured block. ITS SO COMPLICATED!

I disagree with a few points. The Wall Push and the quiz and the Invisible ramps and the Pyromid are interesting I would say a "Boring" on is the one where the fat hippo comes down and you get the seed almost instantly. I would also take some of these "Removed" slots and use them to bring back the metal cap or the canon boat or the dragon . and while the "Push" wall doesn't come back a verry similar idea is in the Pipe search park. The Missile Meggs and the jumping fish are also kind of uninteresting. The Stampede is a fun idea but it needs work. I see a lot of people try to run away from it rather then ride it If there was a way to let the player know "you ride this" it would help out.

If you ever go back to Rejected Updates can you do this idea: Mario vs Maker Mode it will replace local multiplayer basically whoever completes the first level gets to be the Maker who can set up clear conditions add enemies eraser to literally erase the player from existence and also their pause menu and nintendo switch after a few seconds and if the players do something like hit the Maker with a shell that player is banned from Mario vs Maker mode

I love Mario Wonder a lot, but I can't help but to think that Nintendo's 2D platformer creativity peaked on Yoshi's Island. That game had levels that surpassed the Wonder Effects in spades AND it has the best boss battles of any 2D Mario platformer.

You don't need a Drill Mushroom. You can do it as any character with certain badges such as Wall-Climb Jump, Grappling Vine and Boosting Spin Jump.
The quiz is ... bearable until you reach that one unfair question asking how many goombas you've killed.
