So I had to return back to your channel to personally say thank you for this video! I got my bike a week ago. I knew nothing, the manually has literally been how I have learned to ride. (I have class this weekend) Any way the forward and reverse pedal has been an absolute pain. I am 5'2. After watching this video. I ordered the lever from Amazon. The entire install took about 20 mins, thanks to you (the hand sanitizer works). And this has been a complete game changer! Thank you so much! I also got the throttle hand rest. Next up is the brake lock (I got pre-drilled hole) and horn! You seriously are making this so easy! you are amazing!
Hi Robin! I can't thank you enough for going out of your way to come back and comment. You made my heart smile! The videos, surprisingly, take a lot of work and it is always nice to know that they help someone. Even if it is only one person, it makes it all worth it!!
I replaced mine, the long lever makes it so easy and can be fitted in about 15 minutes if you have the right tools. I love your videos, my Ryker actually has only 4,000km on the clock, it is virtually brand new. I am 67 years old and have Cancer, my Ryker gives me joy and happiness. I live in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. Thank You again, Dear Lady.
Thank you for your kind words. I am so happy that you have an outlet for everything you are going through. Keep riding, stay strong and enjoy your summer!
I too am battling the ugly c word but I decided to do things to keep my mind off of it and I got mine for my 51st birthday in November. I pray you’re doing well.
@@Dakarai7216 Thank You, Dear Lady, I locked my cancer up into a part of my brain that won't let it worry me. I have been on Chemo Drugs for well over 6 years now, and my last blood tests show that I am beating it. Sure, I have bad days, but at least I am able to ride my Ryker and a CVO Screamn Eagle Harley now after about 2 years of just being too sick. Please pardon my rude words, but, Fuck Cancer, don't let it rule your life. I honestly wish you all the best with your fight. Cookey, Australia.
@@cookey3855 Thank You and trust me I dont let it limit me and please know I am with you on that FUCK CANCER. Scream it from the highest mountains. I wish you the best as well. Shawty, Virginia
I love this!!!! Finally a woman’s perspective. Most video’s men post make it look so easy but when I got to do it, like yourself, its harder than expected.
Thank you so much! That is exactly why I started my YT channel!!
Ps don’t forget and check out my website too: RykerRydes.com
I got my 2020 Ryker 900 a couple of weeks ago and thanks to your many helpful videos that i watched before acquiring it I was ready for this mod in particular. For anybody contemplating the shifter mod here's a trick to get that rubber off the existing lever and back on without raising a sweat. No need to wrestle getting that rubber off. here's the trick. Use a hair dryer on hi and hot heat. Heat the rubber, it expands and it comes off quite easily but you do have to pull and wiggle it a bit. Getting it back on is also easy...put some dish detergent inside the rubber and on the shaft and it goes back on very easily. Hope this helps somebody. Motor on! Ryker on!
Thanks so much for watching my videos and posting this very useful tip! It will surely help others, thank you!
I took a razor blade and cut the rubber about half an inch it came off easy. I then took some rubber super glue to put it back together. Worked great and took Less than a minute. Thanks for the video.
That’s creative! Nicely done.
Great Video! I just completed this install. FYI for you future viewers... I used a spark plug socket and a mallet to force, ah encourage the shifter arm back enough for the rubber to fit. Thank you for video!!
Great idea, thanks for posting!!
it's probably not a good thing to do as you are pushing towards the transmission. Possible damages down the road. Hopefully your tranny is fine. :)
Omg just bought my Rally this week and this is a game changer!!!!! You already helped with a trailer recommendation! Thank you from another Ryker Women!
Happy to help! Ryde safe wind sister!!
I have this one on my Bike. And Watch your Video to install mine. Love your Videos. Very Helpful for us Newbies.
Yes. Bill Ramseyer is awesome. Thank you Ryker Rydes for video ^5 looks great
Thanks so much for commenting!! 😊
Thanks for all your videos. You sure help me a lot in the beginning with the Ryker.
My absolute pleasure!
Love your videos! My husband watches them too! Thank you!
Awwww thank you so much!!!
I am just catching up to all your video's. You had the same reaction I did when I installed my shift! Being 4'11 that thing is a life saver. 🤣 I have to do all my projects when my husband isn't home because he is always trying to help. Not bad any other time but these projects I like doing on my own. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for watching and the awesome comment!!! New, quick, video coming out tomorrow!!
@@RykerRydes waiting with baited breath.
@@thasfun OMG you are too funny!!
Thank You! I was also watching Bill's vlogs, too. My project is going to be the key lock for the brake. And then the lock for the frunk:-) great videos.
Thank you for watching!!! Happy holidays!!!! 🤟🏼
instaBlaster...
Omg your amazing for posting all these videos it's allowed me to be independent and do modifications in my own I appreciate you
Thank you so much for your kind words!
@@RykerRydes your welcome 🤗 by any chance do you know where your friend that you installed her reverse/forward extension piece on her red Ryker got her floor boards
I think they are from Slingmods? But the floorboards were peeling and did not hold up well.
@@RykerRydes good to know I'll pass lol the pegs start to hurt my feet on long rides I've adjusted them in different positions and it still hurts. So I know I need floor boards but the prices on them are outrageous and I bought my bike for saving gas to drive to work cause it was cheaper than a car.
Great videos 😲🤌 good work!
Thank you!
Wow...good job. In order to get my rubber thing off I had to cut it with a box cutter. Even then it was a nightmare. But I wasn’t reusing it so it was ok. I replaced it with the one from Slingmods.
Thanks Michelle! I love your comments and appreciate you are watching so many of my videos. Look for another one on Thursday!
Thank you so much. Will help my wife and daughter very much. 😀
Absolutely!!! It was my very first modification.
Kudos to you on doing the mods on your own!! Best of luck to you!
...in regards to the time reported/time spent for these jobs-don’t worry, it’s HARDLY EVER as quick as they report it to be!
Thanks!!!!
Trying to make my videos honest and real!! Thanks for watching!!!
...and that’s EXACTLY what comes across!! Love your content.
Great video. Thank you!
Thanks for watching! That was one of my very first modifications. I love it!!
I went through almost the same setup and hassles as this, then I realized you can simply adjust (1 screw) the stock lever into a better position that works for us short leggers. 👍
You’re absolutely right. But I love the closeness of this and being able to get under it with my foot. There are a lot of different options to choose from. Thank you for watching!
I'm not sure how many Ryker diy videos are on CZcams, but as long as your pretty feet and cute toes keep showing up then so will I. You do a great job on your trike and your feet and your toes.
We enjoy your channel
Nice job it’s helpful
Thank you!
You are OK in my eyes, I bought a 2019 Ryker with 14,000km on the clock for AU$13,000. I like your videos, I have had my driver's license for over 50 years now.
Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate your kind words!
Awesome idea 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey great video....
(I understand this is done already..)
To make it go past the hump, take a small file, file down the hump and paint, file off the ridges on the extra peddle. Then tighten the stuff out of the bolt, and add a bit of lock tight to make sure the extra peddle doesn't move.
The rubber gromit on the main peddle, one could use a pair of channel locks and a heat gun or blow dryer and heat and twist.
Although this has been done already, your comment certainly help others. Thank you so much!
This is very early on in your journey with the ryker. No carolina blue stripes or other mods. Keep the videos coming!
Yup! This was the first thing I did. I couldn’t reach the reverse with my foot! Lol
love your videos new sub here cant wait to get mine in jan...2021
Welcome!!!!
First time viewer. Don't have a Ryker,, would like one but, I have Parkinson's.
So I. will use your videos as the next best thing.
Starting with this video, and working my way up to the latest.
Great job, really 👍 your channel.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I means more to me than you know. As far as you getting a Ryker, I know someone that has Parkinson’s, who just got a Ryker. He thought he’d never be able to ride again. Just something to consider. If not, I’ll be happy to take you on my journey with me!!!
Could you give me their contact info, would like to talk to them
Vice-grips makes a wide-mouth grip that grabs the entire rubber piece and it was easy to remove in 2 twists. I have always heard that the key to working efficiently is having the right tool for the job, and that certainly played out. I wish I could figure out how to upload photos for you to see.
Very cool idea. Thanks for the tip!
Thank-you so much, all I need to do is find someone to do it for me.
You can do it!!!!
Greetings from Va.😊
Hello there! Thanks for watching!!
Hi Beth! I just found your channel and have been interested in a ryker. I actually sat on a used one at the dealer. They were moving things around and my husband got there attention and had the guy stop to see if I could sit on one, which they did, but that person ask me to try to turn the bars to see if I was strong enough without moving the bike. I found it was actually hard to turn the bars and the bike had a lot of vibration. So I lost interest. I earned my endorsement in 2019 and ride a 250 Honda Rebel. I m almost 5 3". We were at the Tail of the dragon recently and notice a few women that looked my size riding the ryker. My question, is it hard to turn the bars while riding? Does your bike have a lot of vibration? I would appreciate your answer. I haven't seen all your video's, maybe you have all ready address this is so please direct me to which one to watch. Thanks I will be looking through your channel! ;) Again appreciate it very much!
Brilliant ... Well done! 👍😆🤟🇦🇺 Beanie
Thanks!!! Love positive feedback!
@@RykerRydes You'll find most Ryker/Spyder owners Beth are friendly & will only leave positive feedback! 👍😆🤟 Beanie
I'm 66 and I just bought a 2022 Ryker 600 with 6 miles on it, I know what your thinking, to many 6's right? ANYWAY, my son-in-law pointed out to me that all I had to do was push down with my foot and the lever would slide back into reverse. It took a few tries but, I managed to do it and with regular practice it will get easier. But, I love your video's they are so helpful for us newbies especially, thank you for all that you do.
My absolute pleasure! Thank you for watching!! Ride on!!!
Hit the rubber grommet with a heat gun to remove and install. The tightening screw on the lever you put in the threaded side with a little plate covering the hole and you can crank that open far enough toOpen up the hole to slide on and tap the rest of the way with a deep well socket.
Thanks for the great tip!
I’m curious, could you have installed it to point upwards and used it as a hand lever as well? Or would it still have been to far and uncomfortable to use it that way?
Absolutely! You can tighten the lever in in any position. It would definitely work.
What size is the rubber part that's on the shift lever ? Is there a shifter with a bigger diameter than the rubber part, that can slide over it and be tightened down ? 🤔
That is a GREAT question! Unfortunately I can not get to the original reverse lever to check the diameter. A slightly bigger one might have worked better. There is always that risk of being too big and not staying put. It may be worth it to buy a few and return the ones that don't work. Amazon?
Saw your vidio on replacing the shifter. How about the suiside shift?
Hoping to do that soon.
With motorcycle grips they have glue on them.if you stick a screwdriver in the end between the handle bar in the grip spray WD-40 in there... Work the screwdriver around it breaks all the glue free. I think an eyeglass repair kit screwdriver and some WD 40 would work good on this
Alexander Joseph That is a great suggestion!!! Thank you so much!
I suggest instead of hand sanitizer using Dawn (or any other brand) dishwashing soap for slipping the rubber lever cover back on. It has slicker lubricating properties than the sanitizer & any excess goes away during the next wash job or rainy day ryde.
I was always told that dish soap would gunk it up in the inside (technical terms). Whereas hand sanitizer evaporates so quickly.
Hey beth! I see you've changed out your Black Panels for blue ones. I too bought mine used, which didn't have the colors I wanted but I'm dealing with. Might I ask what you did with your black ones, and if you'd be willing to sell them to me?! Thanks for the vid!
Hi! Thanks for watching!
My panels are actually black (original) and I got them wrapped in blue. Sorry, I totally would have hooked you up!
Nice shifter mod. I'm a 6' guy and have to hand pull the lever for reverse. I also don't care for the hand shifter mod. Will give your's a try
Let me know how it turns out.
Do you still have this mod on your Ryker? Have change/updated it?
Yes. It was my very first mod. Still use it an love it! Never had an issue. ❤️
What about cutting the rubber part to make it shorter ?
That was my last resort, if I couldn't get it on. If you are going to cut it, cut the fatter end (closer to the bike). I think it would work just fine!
@@RykerRydes ok , thanks for the advice.
I'm in California, what state your in?
Florida!! 🌴
Where can I buy that? Thank you
I always post links in the description section of my videos. LMK
Where did you buy your used bike?
FB market place, if I remember correctly.
FYI use stationary cameras while doing modifications. Single handed videos really will degrade your endeavors to achieve best performing youtube videos. Best way to mount the gearshift lever is to use a deep socket and place over the foot peg and rest it against the gearshift handle and use a scrap piece of wood so that you don't damaged your socket. Hit with a 3 lbs sledge hammer and that gearshift lever will seat itself nicely onto the foot peg.
You are 💯 correct. I just bought a tripod. Don’t know what took me so long!!
@@RykerRydes Your channel will definitely take-off with good quality videos and you know what I am talking about. I like it when folks show their mistakes and learn from them. Makes us look human........
*Currently cursing at my reverse lever attempt one second at a time* 🤬🤬🤬
Noooooo! What’s going on?
@@RykerRydes It would not go on at all! I called in my hubby and he put it on like butter. I tried....😂😂😂 Thank you so much for the mod idea though. It is sooooo much easier now to shift it. This should be standard or an option for us shorties LoL
How much did you pay for your used Ryker?
$7000 with 500 miles on it.
@@RykerRydes Wow! That's a good deal. I'm looking into purchasing one in Jan 2020. Looking for a reliable used F3. Any help would be appreciated.
@Trey's Video Art I found mine on the Offer Up app. Craigslist is another good place to search. Used is a great way to go. Try to find one that is less than a year old, so it will still be under warranty. Or find one that has an extended warranty that will transfer to a new owner.

A question, you seem to have had a hard time putting all the stock lever cover and the like back on. I would suggest you get an angle grinder and get rid of that useless section. That is what I am going to mine. Cheers, Cookey.
Very interesting!!!
Heat it with a hairdrier
Great idea
Please shoot your videos in landscape instead of portrait mode, like everyone else. So hard to watch portrait mode..
