In this video I will show how I propagate Clematis from stem cuttings. I have several varieties of Clematis on my property. I grow them in ground and in Containers.

Thanks for showing results. Im surprised after 6 weeks the roots system isnt bigger. I propagate roses and usually by 6weeks there are a large amount of roots. I use coarse play sand as my medium.
Anyway, its good to know what to expect not kust method. I guess starting earlier in the season might be better.

1 year. By Spring I can pot up in 1 gallon and pot up to 2 gallon Mid-summer. It really helps to develop root systems before going into ground. It will speed up develop by 2 years.

I find it kind of easy to root them, but overwinter of them is a different story.

Thank you for making this video. I've been struggling to find a good video for propagating clematis, probably because, as you stated, they don't always take. Your video shows really good close-up views, and I appreciate the way you explained some of the process. I never thought to just bury the plant.
I have a question I'm hoping you can help me with. I'm in zone 5, and this year, all the plants seem to be a few weeks ahead of their normal growing cycles. Would you suggest this same method of using the propagation box at this time of the year? Or should I stick them and leave them in open air? The weather is up & down but hovering around 60F at night. Im in the same boat as you, no greenhouse. Are there any other pointers you could give me to get started? Thanks again for your video ❤
