I was recently asked to do a project out of my comfort zone and stumbled on your face tutorials. I'm still pretty sure the commission they want is out of my league and may have to tell them I won't be able to to give them what they are asking for but this video still encouraged me to attempt to get to the point where I could one day be able to do this piece.

I’m one of those people who wants everything to be perfect from the very beginning. I really needed to hear everything you said in this video and I know I’ll need to come back to it many times in the future.
I love your work and what you do here on CZcams!
    Thank You!

Which is more beneficial to you and which has more full length tutorials? Patreon or your website? I would like to take the tutorials but want to do what helps you most and what...helps ME most, because I'm BROKE.

Hi! :) oh I don’t have tutorials on my website, I have Patreon Tutorial Library there where you can check out almost everything that I uploaded so far on Patreon :) those are all Patreon tutorials, just it’s easier to navigate over the website so the people could see all the drawing tutorials that I offer on Patreon :) that library will be updated every month :) hope this helped :))

@@MimasArtwork well I just signed up and am about to start with the colored pencil hair on tan toned paper. I just picked out all my Polychromos colors and have a piece of toned tan Strathmore 500 series leftover from a couple of other projects. I'm excited to see how you teach! Thanks for making these videos available for us. Hopefully I will get good enough to start a YT art channel myself before it's too over saturated (and I don't see that taking too much longer so I need to get a move on!)

@@MimasArtwork Wow that's so kind of you! Thank you so much! I've been wanting to do CZcams for years but due to chronic illness that has me in bed asleep from crushing fatigue and chronic pain, I haven't been able to be on top of my art to get to a place that's good enough to be successful along with my inability to keep to a schedule and all I have is my phone to record with and zero experience with editing or anything tech oriented. Thinking about the commitment it would take is exhausting. I also have an issue with anxiety caused by my illness from adrenal insufficiency which has me stammering and bumbling and picking myself apart with self doubt. It's all kept me housebound for several years in bed most of the time.
BUT on a positive note, I did turn my spare bedroom into an art studio and have managed to stick to an art therapy group every Friday which keeps me inspired that day and makes me think it may still be something I can do. I really want to. Not having a social life for so long sucks and I find myself talking nonstop to myself and my dogs which would be really nice to share with viewers. I notice so many CZcamsrs stay off camera and focus the camera on the art which would be a good place to start if I get to a place I can actually help people by sharing my time with my sketchbook.
I've only been cracking down for 2 and a half years and have come so far and feel a lot better about my art, but am really doubting I'm in a good enough place.....and yes, I make a LOT of excuses why it probably won't work out.
My idea is based on how art has been so therapeutic for me since J began learning from CZcams and IG and classes online from artists I adore. That it's truly turned around my mental health aspect of being sick and in pain and exhausted with anxiety that makes me hate answering the phone or leaving my house. Being couped up has been my safe place and having this outlet has been the best thing that's happened since this all started 10 years ago.
That's it all in a really small nutshell. I always have so much to say I just feel I need to have a better grasp on my artwork first.
Of course your patreon tutorials will be a huge help but I also take several other classes on Domestika and Skillshare and even Sktchy (I couldn't pass up France Van Stone's classes on there) and dude, I can't afford all of this! Lol it's really set me back. It's really hard to stick to and I've struggled to finish a course, but taking so many at once doesn't help.
But it's been so deeply worth it and the only thing I'd change is my consistency and finding a direction because I definitely don't have a "style" yet or even a medium to stick to. The paintbrush terrifies me so I stick to drawing where there's no mess.
So now you can see that I clearly have a lot to say! Lol. But the self confidence isn't there. I'm making slow progress, but progress all the same. However my fatigue and illness are progressive at about the same rate as my learning So.....now you know the brick wall I keep adding to. Sorry to unload it all. I really appreciate your kindness and such willingness to help me move forward with my art that I love so much. I REALLY appreciate it and would be beyond grateful for some direction and a bit of hand holding. CZcams really seems like the direction I want to go but it seems really hard Thank you so so much for your kindness. It's rare these days and says a lot about who you are. 😇😊

The ugly phase of my stuff is really bad. I tend to block in values first and it looks like horrible anime, lol! I have to tell myself to keep going. With more practice, I've seen that all my works go through this phase. It's just a lack of the details that transform it and in an unfinished project, it's going to lack the details. It works out in the end usually but it does knock my confidence around a bit.

    • @MimasArtwork
      @MimasArtwork  Před rokem +1

Don't let it knock your confidence, we all have these ugly stages but it's important to keep going cause we all have those ugly stages so no worries about them, make sure to keep going, don't think about the end result and don't have any expectations during the process, I am sure you will enjoy it much more :))

How old did you start? How did you learn how to draw? What things helped you? I’ll like to help her :(

Make her draw 5 hours every day until she's sick of it.....that's how I learned. It takes at least 5 years to become really good 👍

Hi! I apologise for a bit late response. I was 6 when I started drawing, my mother was giving me the covers of the video tapes of Disney characters to draw :) So maybe you could start with coloring books, some of the pages she can color and some of the images she can draw on a blank page, just so she could start learning about proportions, composition, colors etc. :) For me it was interesting to create a portrait of Cinderella for example, I was very proud knowing that I created a drawing of her, so maybe in the beginning you might find this helpful and useful, maybe she will like it :) Kindly let me know how it went! I wish you and your daughter very best! :)
