6 months into my Model X ownership experience and a lot has changed. On one hand, the Tesla Model X is an incredible car with amazing looks, performance, and features. But on the other hand, the design is showing its age a bit and some of it's best features may have become it's biggest weaknesses. Let me give you an in-depth review of the Model X in 2024, talk about the performance and comfort of the Model X Plaid, and whether or not it's still worth it in 2024.

I have a '22 Model X, and l love it. I love the yoke, the front doors, and the Falcon wing doors. My front doors have sensors, so they do self present. I plan on driving this car for a long time. From Atlanta, I've been to Miami, Louisville, Orlando, Naples, Nashville, and Cincinnati. It's great on rode trips.
Will they finally add the Birds Eye view camera angle for parking now that they are adding the missing part which was the front bumper camera
I have an identical Model X Plaid except for having FSD and white seats. I really enjoy the automatic doors and haven't had a problem with them. If you go to push the door open from the inside without waiting a couple seconds for the motor to disconnect, yes, you're going to play tug-of-war with the door motor. I've found waiting for a second or two before trying to pull the door open from the outside or push the door open from the inside works really well. The automatic doors (and being able to run them all from the app) are some of the things I love the most about our Model X Plaid.
I'm on Team Yoke too and love it. Yes, the visors are silly but work ok for whaat they are. Great video. Thank you.
we bought ours new in 2018 and have 240,000kms and have never had a falcon wing door issue
What do you think about the 1st generation Model X having better range than the second generation Model X? [371 miles vs 348] One of the reasons I want and 2021 Long Range Plus versus the 2024 model year.
Good video. I have driven a Tesla model Y for almost 4 years. Best car I have ever owned. For birthday number 65. I wanted to buy myself a nice present, i.e. a new car. Had to be electric and roomy. Good on road trips. Nice ride. I had scoured the Internet and have had several test drives. Boiled down to a Kia EV nine versus a gray model X.
I already have a gray model Y… Kia EV nines around here are not selling well and I can get them at a good price. Like the ride And some of the features not found on the model X such as more room in the back, newer design (although looks much older), vehicle to load and vehicle to house possibilities, heads up display. On a whim, I went on a second test drive of the Tesla model X along with my wonderful spouse. Within two minutes, my choice was clear. Stepping into the model X still felt like going into the future. The technology, software, hardware, etc., etc. are still so far ahead of the competition. Recent price breaks for Tesla have made my decision on no-brainer. So I have ordered another gray Tesla.
Please don't listen to this guy, get your falcon wing doors PPF'd to avoid damage. I took delivery of my X in Dec. 2023 and the doors open right into fences, garage ceilings and various other obstacles. If you don't want to take my word on it, watch bearded tesla guy on the same exact topic.

To offer an even better level of advice, do not buy a Tesla at all.
I just ordered an Inventory Model Y in Ultra Red with Fed incentive, discounts, cybertruck reservation discount added up to over $15,000 off of MSRP ($39K ). You can now buy two option loaded Model Y's for the same price as one base Model X. Very hard to Justify a Model X.

I have owned my Model X for 2 years now and it’s the best car ever and with the updated FSD it’s even better. As for the Falcon Wing doors, I have never had that problem..
Rob, what do you think about a retro fit front camera for X's that is compatible? Hear anything about that?

Only two issues 1 - the 6 seats are great but it would be great if they could fold down. The second is the non motorized front trunk. Yes it can be solved after market but it shouldn’t have to be.
I specifically wanted to get a 22 x plaid just for the reason that the doors still had sensors and you know but a product for what it has not what it promises we haven’t even been told a eta for the newer models for the doors to work like before

I don't hate the Yoke, I hate that it's not steer by wire. They finally got it right with the CyberTruck and I'm expecting them to update the other models with it.
Test drive the latest model X and loved it! But frankly I find it too expensive so got the model y with three rows. Love your videos though…
Yeah…a ‘minivan’ that is as fast as a Porsche 911. 😊 I have a Model 3 dual motor that has better performance than my Audi S3 or my previous BMW 135i.
Does the new S/X have laminated glass on all four doors? If I was buying today I'd opt for the Tax Credit Edition for $72,500
Damn… the fact that you have to fight the motor in the front doors is insane. I used to have a 17’ model X, and loved having them present itself all the way. Never had any issues with them hitting anything either, but I am also a careful person. Miss that car a lot.. have a Model Y Performance now, but it is nothing compared to a Model X. The Y is overall a bit smaller.. you notice that well if you have a dog cage and a kid.. and it is also a bit cheaper without the alcantara headliner etc.
Took me 8 months or so to get used to not having electric doors anymore 😅 I still hit the brake sometimes expecting the door to close!
I did a test ride of both Model Y and Model X, before I decided (Jun'23) to go with Model Y. My points, especially after test rifes:
- so many moving parts in the front doors in Model X. Probability wise, the problem will hit you much sooner versus doors in Model Y
- Passenger sits. The 3rd row is a joke, just for little kids. And if you choose 5 sits Model X, it's the same as Model Y.
- The 3rd row of sits are not removable ... so always carring extra load ...

I totally agree about the front doors, very annoying, and I don't know why they can't just use Tesla Vision to fix it.
I have the 2024 and the falcon doors always give me problems to close 😩

You didn’t go with the six seats. That’s the only way the plaid comes. Plus this is a 2023 X. Why lie?
If you want range and you do not go offroading or you do not haul or tow then keep your X.
If not then you need the Cybertruck and wait for the $80-70k version and buy the the range extender and buy the camp accessory as well.
Would love to see steer by wire and bi-directional charging like they have on the new cybertrucks !
I think you got Lam on ft & bk on X, and on Ft on Y with extra thick single pane on back wins - ask dealer - I did, and that's what I remember. X is a better drive - hands down...

I own a 2019 model x and I still love it.
I need a big Car to replace my exiting one and I really like this Tesla model, specifically they increased the size very intelligently. One big thing that is still preventing me from buying this is the Tesla quality of interior. If I am buying 100K vehicle, I need it to be at par with a similar price Lexus.

Some comments while I watched the video: Yeah, I agree that the model X is not that pretty from the front. It does look pretty from the back though. I'm not a big fan of the falcon wing doors, as I've hit my head on the doors so many times when they didn't open all the way. The seals can also fail, letting so much rain water to leak in. Re the front trunk, I never cared that it wasn't powered, as I almost never access that front trunk. Re the size of the car, I personally feel it's not big enough. Those two back seats are too cramped. If I were to buy another SUV, I'd look for one bigger. I'd love if Tesla produced a bigger SUV based on the wheel frame of their new truck. Do the falcon doors hit things? Never on my 2016 model X, and I've opened them when I probably shouldn't have when things were nearby that they could hit. Yeah, the sun visor sucks. I never use it -- I just make sure to keep sunglasses in the car. Would I buy a model X now? I have really enjoyed my model X, but personally, I wouldn't buy it right now. I'd wait for an update to the battery pack before buying. Their battery pack hasn't changed since late 2016, and it's due for an upgrade. I'd like to see a higher kW battery pack, and better performing batteries.
Sonar or Ultrasonic sensor are dirt cheap. I think Tesla removed it from the car cause it’s may cause FSD system conflicting data and can lead to phantom braking. I experienced similar issues with my 2017 Lexus ES350 adaptive cruise with lane shift in construction zone on
Freeway 5 between Gilroy and San Jose. It scared the living daylight out of me. 😮 while two semi trailer next by.
Six seat is the only reason i got the long range model x, because 5 seat is much better for me, and its a shame that tesla decided plaid should only come in 6 seats. Very disappointing, but in the long run i guess i didn't need to spend another 30k on plaid.

I would love the X but the X it’s hard to justify that price. We have a fully loaded Infiniti QX60 with all of the great features for 70K. I also bought the Y on the 2nd of March because it was better buy
Why does no one talk about the Long Range All Wheel X - under $80,000.00 & you get 5 seat Config - that is great! Plus either a paint job that costs, Like white or Black - or, you can choose Cream & Walnut Interior instead - still under $80,000.00!!!. You can always go back and get the Yoke - and to get the cream Interior means you gotta go with Stealth Grey (Free) paint job - that you can have wrapped with any color in the world and Ceramic Coat as well by a 3rd party vendor!!!
A red Plaid X is much less egg-like than a pearl white Model Y LR, but I love my Perl, regardless, so I wouldn't sweat the aesthetic of the X, though I might find it a little large. Then again, I'm like an old man with Walmart taste in Tiffany's, what do I know?
The fact the captain chairs don’t have any armrests???? HUGE no from me.. what’s the point of them then? You can’t move them down, nor have an arms rest? That is really stupid.
I’ve never sat in my back seat so I don’t care if my spoiled kids have to suffer not having arm rests 😂

@@juanwindley5142people forget that $100,000 is a pocket change compared to the tax they are paying. For example, I can get the entire lease cost of Model X as tax write off for my business.

I changed the rims and tires on my MYP to 18" lasts very long and range is even better

Model X must be phase out. Nobody buys it, it’s weird. Replace it with a IDBuzz-like that can do 0 to 60 in 4 seconds. This the family sport car you should get for 100k +. Phase out Musk too, weird and obsolete like the X.
