I'm 53 and I've been into hip hop since Jungle Brothers and BDP days.
There's no doubt, King Los is definitely one of the best I've ever heard. Like many have written, I wonder why King Los hasn't got wider recognition too? These are my conclusions.
I think his ability and positive message, scares rappers and the industry alike.
This young man undoubtedly has a gift, something to say and is on a mission to say it. I"ve read so many times, "whenever Los goes on somebody's beat, Los owns it!" Although I agree, I don't feel the same about the beats King Los creates/chooses for himself.
This is another reason I think Los doesn't get wider recognition. For me, the beats he creates/chooses, rarely seem to compliment his undoubted skills. Although I understand every artist strives for individuality, I feel Los can complicate the beat.
This young man has the complete package though, the ability to make you dance, listen, think and learn. For example, his first line in his 2nd BET cypher was, "They said black lives matter, please let us be, then they put on bodycams, just to let us see! That is fire and knowledge. The beat played it's part though, it took the message to another level. Maybe it's old school but a hip hop artist still sounds best on a consistent, preferably uptempo beat.
