1983, I was 15 and we just got cable, always watched Friday and Saturday night. Didn't know how good it was to be a teenager in the 80's. Look how things are now. Sad.
I was a Senior that year and we just got cable too! Stayed up all night on the weekend watching Night Tracks. The 80's was a great decade. If I could go back to that time I would. Such a simpler time being a teenager! I agree with you Jeffrey Chapman, "TOTALLY!"
Wow...…….Takes me back to 1984 and being 19...…...I used to watch this when I was stationed in the Army in Hawaii before I started going out on fri/sat nights.....
This is unquestionably from the summer of 1983, very early in the show's run. Ironically, even if this was from one of the very first shows "Come On Eileen" wasn't terribly new. It hit number one in the U.S. in April of 1983, two months before Night Tracks debuted.
Looks like one of the earliest intros. Later ones around 1986 had fluorescent images of cities or something. Think I had switched mostly to Turkey Television then.
+apjung The narrator (video jock) is Bob Coburn who did the intros in the early few years of the show. Plus, the graphics are consistent with 1983 - 1984 seasons. In 1985 some of the graphics were improved. apjung may know more.
June 3,1983 is when (Night Tracks) premiered on SuperStation WTBS, I have no idea when this episode show aired, as for The video seen after The Intro it is 1983, "Did you tape the whole episode show that night or just Music Videos?"
Night Tracks from the Producers of Kids Incorporated, The Secret World of Alex Mack and The Journey of Allen Strange I remember it well A Great way to end your Friday Nights & Saturday Nights God Bless The OLD SKOOL SuperStation WTBS
SOMEONE has to have all these archived. I want ALL the full shows INCLUDING commercials! They were such a part of my pre-dating teenage years!
I used to have a bunch of VHS tape but I threw them all away around 10 years ago. I had no idea there were in demand.
They are archived on a web page called the Media Archive.
my Friday & Saturday nights growing up!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep... thankful to be an 80’s teenager as well. Funny how my grown kids of today sure know Def Leppard, Motley Crue, and all the 80’s bands.

Mike The reason they are probably saying new is because the music video was made shortly after the song became a hit so the music video was new.

Summer, 1983. I’m 15 years old again.
I'm 12 again YA!!! pizza Pac Man and music videos, ah I miss the 20th Century.
Night Tracks didn't premiere until June 3, 1983 so it has to be 1983.
