You realize when a guy loves so much a band that he puts up videos pointing out these little details, hehe. Can tell you´re a true fan. Greetings and have a great weekend, Matt!

Matt, sitting here after getting out of the hospital, enjoying my oxycodone, and once again my brother, you made the experience even better. You taught me something I did not know, and it sounds even better now. Thank you again brother. Oh, and by the way the EII sounds killer man. I love that guitar. Keep riffing bro.

Good stuff. Its little nuances like this that make riffs work. Without it it sounds 99.99% right but it doesn't quite flow into the next repetition.

Hi Matt, do you have the GuitarW copy including Kirk Hammett, January 2006. There are the tabs of the video he made showing some riffs, mop included. There are many surprises and particularity showed which not many people have noticed.
Let me know if you plan to make a video about that.

You made me check, but I think you are wrong.
If you watch the 'Metallica: Whiplash (Live at The Metro - 1983)' vid on youtube, you'll see James does a 3 strings chord for the A-G#-G part of the riff. He does play this 1st string, 3rd fret G note, but as part of the G chord finishing the riff. So he kinda pull off this note to play the E beginning the riff, but not as you show...
Also did you notice at 0:50 on the record they do a slight variation : A-G#-A just before the lyrics begin ?

Wow its subtle but now it makes more sense to my ears. There is something similar with the metal militia riff . Its hard to spot but once you hear the extra hidden note ot sounds cooler. Its easier to hear it on live versions

This is quite interesting! Now I can play WHIPLASH correctly with the full WHIPLASH EXPERIENCE!!! How about you address the pre-chorus riff of Master of Puppets, as the tabs are so inaccurate. Most tabs say the first part is (8-8-8-8) when it is actually (7-7-7-7) . When you get the 7-7-7-7, it sounds better and fits the real guitar track. The 7-7-7-7 is more prominent live.

The record version and live version differ not because you can't hear details on record, but because they play it another way. So you just tricked people to play this riff as YOU want...
