Welcome to Christian rock/metal. Still goes as hard as anything else. This band is the one to achieve the"crossover" at the highest level. Brought me back to the genre. Love this band!
like POD!
POD was on TRL on MTV a lot back on the early 2000s.
The comment is at the highest level. Skillet has more multi plate reach multis at 5x and 3x. The comment wasn’t that they were the first or only. POD did hit 3x plat and success which was well deserved as well.
I'm a Christian and I loved rock before I gave my life to God in my early 30s and Skillet is my favorite Christian band
Saya seorang muslim
Saya menyukai skillet lebih dari 10 tahun..
Bukan hanya sekedar suka
Tapi makna dari lagunya selalu penuh arti
As a pastor we took our kids to a youth gathering and Skillet was one the bands. 35,000 kids rocking in the New Orleans Super Dome. It's a moment I won't forget. They put on a great show with a positive message. I'm so glad you both loved this.
Awesome! AMEN
Is throwing up the "horns" frowned upon? Because that is a symbol of rock, not necessarily the devil
@@JK-dl6ql some denominations may take offense at symbols that could be interpreted as satanic, even if they are not. It's like Paul in his letter to the Corinthians-if you think eating meat sacrificed to idols is bad, then it is. but Paul doesn't worry about it. If you think "throwing up the horns" is satanic, then it is (for you). If you think it is a rock and roll sign, then it is. I grew up in a era when churches thought Led Zep was satanic. Kind of ridiculous. Thanks for asking.
@@genov9374Exactly, if it makes you feel like you’re uncomfortable with it, like you might be doing something God wouldn’t like, then avoid it - not because it’s always all bad, but because if you ignore that internal intuition, you may end up ignoring it on core sins!
This band is part of my childhood my favorites are Monster, Comatose, Rebirthing, Whispers in the Dark, Sick Of It, Last Nite, Falling Inside the Black, Hero, and Feel Invincible
Yes! All amazing
"Hero" just sounds like a bad copy of "Awake" to me. Never could get into it.
Just the most awesome Christian band I've had the pleasure of listening to.they even had a hit song featured in movie commercials and of course WWE RAW.you should check out more Skillet and other bands of this genre.thanks for Skillet.
And don’t forget “The Resistance “
Great calls!
Awesome that you would not fear doing a Christian band. Very cool, mad respect. Love you both.
💯 agree. I think they should do Third Day. Mac Powell voice is as good as any singer in world.
For King and Country is another one they should listen to!
The band “red” is another very good Christian rock band
POD & Red
@@dustyhead3126 I saw Skillet in concert with Third Day a few years ago!
Wow, finally some Skillet! This was a good start. This rabbit hole has some truly great songs lurking within, including "Whispers in the Dark", "Hero", "Monster", "Comatose", and "The Lat Night". Every fan of this band has a favorite! Also... glad to see you doing a song less than 20 years old! That's a rarity on this channel! And also: when Jay makes THAT face at 1:39, you know it's a banger! The female singer's name is Jen Ledger, and the male singer John Cooper. John is married to the rhythm guitarist/keyboardist, Korey Cooper. Seth Morrison, lead guitar, rounds out the group.
Drummer and female vocals is Jen Ledger. John's wife Korey, rhythm guitar and keyboards, does do some backing vocals.
@@chriso6719 My mistake. Thanks for correcting!
@Patrick Hodges "Comatose" and "Whispers in the Dark" jam so much!!!
Family Force 5
This and hero are my fav
Skillet is amazing, their lyrics are true to their faith in Christ and their sound draws people in from all walks of life.
First band you have reacted to that I have never heard of and they are FIRE. Kudos to the two of you for being fearless as to what you react to and kudos to the Rob Squad family for recommending this!
I'm not religious at all. However I really like Skillet. They are a great 'pump you up' kinda band. "Feel Invicible" & "Hero" are amazing also. Great workout songs.
Hero song is about jesus just thought I tell u jesus loves u
You will catch up to God one way or another, hopefully your road leads to the better eternity.
@@ShaggyTheClown17 There is no god.
@@nopefuyt674 There is no you without God, so hopefully you'll grow out of that before your last wish is granted.
@@ShaggyTheClown17 Yes there is, its just a chance on what sperm fertilizes the egg, your fairy tale had nothing to do with it.
Their songs "Monster" ( my fav along with Awake & Alive), "Hero", "Save Me", "Burn It Down", "Feel Invincible" and "Surviving The Game" are really good.
Monster and Hero are fantastic!!
@@robertmeyer2102 I concur
Invincible is probably my favorite out of a library of amazing songs.
Rebirthing is a banger too
Not Gonna Die
This is my favorite song by Skillet! I reacted the same way when I saw them. Jen Ledger is the drummer. Love her. 🎶🎸
This is the song they would use to wake the kids up with every morning at my kids' summer camp. It worked!
loved seeing them live! pure energy! and the love of God
For the longest time, I'd thought that Jen was the wife of the lead vocalist/Bassist of this band, until I'd looked them up on Wikipedia
@@karlsmith2570 yeah the female guitarist is the wife of the male vocalist… she is no slouch on guitar either. Jens vocals are near the top of my list when it comes to female rock vocals… up there with Lzzy Hale.
The violins in concert are crazy! They're fantastic live.
And cello!
They're an amazing band. Every single song is inspiring.
So many good songs for you to check out by Skillet! I recommend Hero, Invincible, Not Gonna Die, Legendary and Monster
Friends! You made me smile tonight for sure. I could genuinely tell that you loved it and are now fans! It made me happy to see you both enjoy Skillet! I know I suggested Resistance next but honestly Skillet is a band that every song is banger!!! I hope to see more in the future!!! Thank you all again so much!
Been hoping you would get to this band. We know you like drummers that sing. Jen Ledger is her name.
Christian rock band formed in Memphis.
Lead singer and bassist , John Cooper,is the only original member. Current lineup includes his wife Korey on guitar and keyboard., Seth Morrison on lead guitar and Jen on drums and vocals.
More from them : Hero. Monster, and Feel Invincible.
Even their most recently released music is still damned good.
They are great in concert! Y'all should go if you get the chance. Sometimes they're at Rocklahoma. Sometimes Winter Jam.
Despite its popularity, I don't think Monster would be a good 2nd impression. After seeing them go on and on about Jen, I feel they might be disappointed at the lack of Jen in that track.
I'd say Hero, Feel Invincible, The Resistance, Legendary, or Surviving The Game for the next one. All have a decent amount of singing from Jen.
@@joegoodman8213 I agree. I was disappointed Jen had no vocals on Monster. If I’m not correct, that was either about the time Jen joined the band or before she had begun singing with the band.
My twenty-something niece got me to listen to Skillet. I told her that I liked the drums. She was so proud to tell me that the drummer is a female. Jen is so good and she sings well.
I love this band. They have many great songs.🎤🎤🎤
I've never heard of this group but it is fire!!!! Definitely the type of song I needed to hear today. Agree w/you totally, Amber.
Feel invincible, legendary, hero, the resistance are also great songs from skillet
I can recommend you a few songs of them: The Resistance, Undefeated, Stars, Legendary, Feel Invincible and Hero
The drummer’s name is Jen Ledger, and she is awesome! John Cooper is the lead singer, Korey Cooper (his wife) is the other woman in the band (she does a lot), and Seth Morrison is on guitar. I am so glad you guys did Skillet. Please dive into more. You will love it! They are my favorite band.
There are hundreds of Christian rock bands from every genre to sample from. Many are absolutely incredible and rival any secular music artists on the market.
Stryper - my favorite 80s Christian Heavy Metal band, heard they recently put a out a new album.
@@gerardcote8391 My top 5 favorite Christian rock albums from the 80s:
- Believer - Extraction From Mortality
- Jerusalem - Warrior
- LSU - Shaded Pain
- King's X - Out Of The Silent Planet
- Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice
Even though the 70s and 80s laid the foundation for modern Christian metal and rock, I think the 90s is when the genre really started to shine.
true!
Pillar and Disciple are my favorite hard rock Christian bands!
@@kel5423 If you haven't already, you should check out the bands Eternal Decision, Ultimatum and Mortification. Their style is thrash metal. Also, half of Mortification's is death metal. All 3 are from the 90's.
Skillet is one of my favorite bands! So many bangers! Please do more of them in the future!
Jen Ledger has a lot of great songs from her band (Ledger). Try the song: Not Dead Yet. She would be a great Female Friday artist.
Her drumming and voice in Skillet is just amazing.
Great band. You get great music and God's truth at the same time. John Cooper and Jen Ledger trading off singing is the classic Skillet sound. Great song choice to start with.
They may have got this idea from syph/ metal band Nightwish which is one of my favorite bands.
@@rickhunter294 Skillet's sound really hasn't chnaged much since their debut album 1996, with the ecxeption of band memebers.
Yes! Finally a Christian band. Now that you've cracked this genre, I'd love to suggest P.O.D., Jars of Clay, Red, Fireflight, Switchfoot, and Kutless. All fantastic bands.
Add Disciple to that!
3rd day would be a must. Not heavy but amazing
Switchfoot is my favorite band, but Skillet is the best to see live.
you are speaking to my heart brother!
I'd add Third Day to that excellent list.
I've seen them twice, they are even better live. Jen Ledger is badass on the drums.
To be honest, I never heard of this band, but they’re pretty good
Been listening since the Beatles appeared. Never heard of Skillet. Still learning something new every day.
YES!!!! I knew y’all were gonna love Skillet. So many great songs from this band!
*Jen Ledger is the drummer/vocalist. John Cooper is the lead singer and his wife Korey Cooper is the bassist/keyboardist. Seth Morrison is on lead guitar. Skillet is a Christian rock group and they are absolutely amazing!!*
I'm Christian, but never really listened to Christian Rock. But I can sure hear some Christian theme in this song, esp. '...At war with the World..' (which mostly tries to pull you away from God). :) Some hard-hitting rock here too with the message!
“….as I struggle to find my faith,” to me is the most powerful statement because we spend more time in the valleys than we do in the peaks and hills. I know you are there God, I need You. Very inspirational song.
Love this band "Never Surrender " is one of my favorite from Skillet but they have so many great songs their music is awesome
So many great songs from this group to choose from. 😍
Love love Jen Ledger!!! Greatest female drummer/vocalist....EVER!!!
Had never heard of them, but they're great! You might want to check out The Warning, if you haven't already. I would suggest you start with Dust to Dust at Lunario or Whisky A GoGo. They're on tour with Halestorm and Pretty Reckless right now. Take care!
@@caasss8123 Huge Halestorm fan. Lzzy doesn't get enough credit for being one of the great female rockets of all time. I've heard a couple songs from The Warning, but haven't followed them. If they are out there with Halestorm, they have to be good!
Their "Invincible" hit is my favorite. So much power behind the song. I wouldn't be surprised if you went back to listening to Nightwish after this.
HERO.1 MONSTER.2 ONE MY FAVORITE WISPER IN THE DARK
Love band!!! "Alien Youth" & "my hope is you" is my 2 favorites . They always have an Awesome message. Show you can be clean and be a good band. Another band is Third Day, same messages just more southern rock
Great album!!!!!
Go listen to Hero, you will love it
@@linrn53 hero is awesome as well.
So many good songs. Monster, comatose, back from the dead, victorious, and legendary are great ones to check out
They are even better live. They totally kill it! Hero is my favorite song. The band currently consists of husband John Cooper (lead vocals, bass) and wife Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) along with Jen Ledger (drums, vocals) and Seth Morrison (lead guitar).
So glad y'all digging into Skillet.....they have hard driving music but it's all to honor GOD 🤴. They have such a huge following that's not religious or spiritual because the music speaks to them. My first taste of Skillet was their hard rocking so g "Feel Invincible".....I also like Stars from the movie The Shack. Please do more 🕊️💗
Skillet's first album came out in 1996, and they've never stopped since. They released their 11th(!) album in 2022. There is only one original member of the band left, and that is John Cooper (lead vocals, bass guitar, acoustic guitar). John's wife Korey Cooper (rhythm guitar, keyboards, synthesizers, backing vocals) joined in 1999. The current drummer, Jen Ledger, joined the band in 2008 when she was just 18! The current lead guitarist, Seth Morrison, joined in 2011.
Skillet's sound had evolved over they years. You can check out the differences on songs like "Saturn" (1996), "Locked in a Cage" (1998), "More Faithful" (1998), "Best Kept Secret" (2000), "Kill Me, Heal Me" (2001), and "You Are My Hope" (2001) (Korey singing with John).
From about 2003 onward, they pretty much found their sound, with songs like "Forsaken" (2003), "Savior" (2003), "Rebirthing" (2006), and "Comatose" (2006). They vocally found their sound with the addition of Jen Ledger on songs like "Hero" (2009) (first single to feature Jen Ledger), "Monster" (2009), "Rise" (2013), "Not Gonna Die" (2013), "Feel Invincible" (2016), "I Want to Live" (2016), and "Legendary" (2019).
Awesome guys, as a Christian I love me some Skillet glad y’all checked them out. Do yourselves a favor and check out Red Breathe Into Me next!
I saw them at House of Blues in Myrtle Beach which is actually a pretty small venue. It was a great concert! Great choice!
I’ve seen Skillet twice! Love them! You need to do their song “Hero” next! It’s one of my favorites!
I just realized I've been listening to Skillet for 26 years. WOW! I still have their first CD back when they where a 3 piece "alt/grungy" type band. I defiantly love the musical direction they went with the Collide album. My favorite song off that album is "Fingernails".
Exactly! I've been a panhead too since the 1st album and Collide is my favorite album of theirs. Fingernails is a great song.
Believe it or not SKILLET has been rocking for over a quarter of a century and has toured around the world. They are based in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The drummer is Jen Ledger from Coventry, UK. She joined the band when she was 18 and also has a solo project called Ledger which is worth checking out as well. Her song "Not Dead Yet" kills it.
Excellent choice, so many great songs by Skillet! You've actually tapped into the best kept secret, Christian rock! There's a ton of it, all of it awesome!
I'm happy that ya'll are reacting to Skillet! Please do Legendary next.
So I consider myself a Rock & Roll guy, I have never heard of these guys……….thank you thank you thank you for doing this song. That was FRAKIN AWESOME.
What a day. I go and see Skillet live in concert, and then come home to see that a couple of my favorite reactors, Jay and Amber, have FINALLY gotten around to reacting to Skillet. This is like the cherry on top to finish out my day. And yes, they did perform this song live.
I knew Jay would love to see a female drummer singing, especially with such an angelic voice that she has.
The band members are:
John Cooper - Lead vocals, and Bass
Korey Cooper (Johns wife) - guitar, keyboards
Jen Ledger - co-Lead vocals and drums
Seth Morrison - guitar.
Loved your reaction to Skillet. When you get a chance, I would suggest you see them live. They put on a great show.
I know you guys loved Bon Jovi's "I'll be there for you" You should check out Richie Zambora's " I'll be there for you" live at Madison square garden. This was after he split from Bon Jovi. He was the guitarist that you guys loved from Bon Jovi.
I never heard of this band either. Teaching the old dog new tricks. Very cool song . Thanks for doing it.
Christian bands don't get the kudos they deserve.
Jen sings sooooo well live while playing drums it's insane. This is my favorite song they do and her voice live is incredible!!
I went to a Creed concert, many years ago. Skillet opened up, never heard of them. They were FIRE!!! Stole the show.
Skillet is a Christian rock band and of course they are referring to waking up to the life and love of God/ Jesus. Wheather you know that before you listen to them i firmly believe it's the Spirit of God that sings to and awakens whoever is listening. 🙏 Peace !
What I like most about your music and movie reactions is the pure, wide-eyed goggling reaction of a child the first time they taste chocolate. Been there done that since the first time I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in Feb of '64. It brings me joy to see how fulfilling these experiences are for you. Need to get back to some Floyd, though. Perhaps "One of these Days" off the Meddle album? Just a thought! Keep it up, guys. Cheers....
So glad you finally started down this rabbit hole that is Skillet. This is one band that never takes their foot off the gas and keeps you pumped. The drummer Jen Ledger has some solo projects you should check out even if just on your own time. Good reaction guys
Comatose; Falling Inside the Black, Monster, Hero... There's so many more from Skillet that deserve a reaction!
wait till you listen to invincible!! Jen kills it on the drums. kick ass!!
The members of this band are very devout Christians. You can't go wrong with this band you are in for a few surprises when you see the lady drummer singing. John is the lead vocalist. His wife is actually the lead guitarist. I do believe for this song though his wife is the one with the violin.
Seth Morrison is the lead guitarist... Korey Cooper is the rhythm guitarist/ programmer.
I just recently found out that Jen(the drummer) is also English. She's a great singer, and put out an EP a few years ago(Ledger).
I know this vid is like a year old but I love the fact that y'all dig the vibe. Still my fave band. I've been listening to them since I was 13 and I'm half way to 40. 🤘🤘
Skillet is great. Fireflight, Thousand Foot Crutch, Anberlin, Red, all great Christian rock groups.
Back in the day, I worked at a nightclub run by my church. I did stage work, setting up equipment for the bands and working stage monitors from the side of stage. I got to work with SKILLET, mind you, this is 25 years ago. They weren’t this heavy as much as I remember. I believe I still have an autographed cassette from them in my collection.
My friends sent me this song from Skillet a few months ago, and now I am addicted to those guys.
What I have not seen mentioned is that the drummer Jen Ledger was only 18 years old when she joined Skillet.
So glad to see you reacting to Skillet. They are awesome! Catch "Hero", a 2010 song by them. The video is fantastic. Here is a link - czcams.com/video/uGcsIdGOuZY/video.html
They are still cranking out music and doing live shows.
I love the song, Monster by Skillet!
This is one of my Spotify alarm clock songs. I love waking up to Skillet.
Dummer/vocalist is Jen Ledger; lead vocal/bass is John Cooper; he is 'married to the female guitar player, Korey, and the other guitar player is Seth Morrison. Check out "Monster", "Hero", "Legendary", or "Feel Invincable" next. You'll love those as well.
If you want to be amazed then do: OAR “That was a crazy game of Poker” live at Madison Square Gardens. Never disappoints.
They are freaking amazing! PLEASE react to
Hero
Monster
Feel invincible
the list goes on.
"Locked in a Cage"
This is a new band for me too … rarity here for sure and they are great !!! Love the classical crossover too with the strings … awesome !!!
BTW, Jen Ledger (the drummer) has her own stuff too, her band is called "Ledger".... for Female Friday you could check her out my suggestions would be "My Arms" (slower song with an awesome message), "Not Dead Yet" (on the harder side with an awesome message), or "Goner-at home" (they recorded this from their homes during lock down)
Also this a whole different genre to go through if you went down the Christian rock route. Skillet however is a rabbit hole of its own.
If you guys liked that try For King and Country. God only knows Good tune :) thanks for trying Christian music
It's about blasted dang time you hit this band!!! Now put their good songs on the list! Hero, monster, stars, feel invincible....
Skillet has been called one of the most streamed bands of the last 5 years. They reached one billion streams a few years back and were recognized by Billboard Music for it. Most people also don't realize they have been around of about 25 years in different incarnations. John, the bass player/vocalist also found the band and his wife, Korey, is the band's rhythm guitarist/programmer. I've been a fan for 20 years and their fans are called Panheads.
Man there are many other Christian rock bands you should check out too Switchfoot is another that’s amazing but Skillet is so good too I love this band as well!!
Kutlass is another Awesome Christian Rock Band !
Yeah love Kutless too!!
Would love to see you react to Run Devil Run by Crowder! It has an awesome video for the song! So many good songs in the Christian genre!
Well welcome to the world of Skillet! Love this band and been lucky enough to see them live a few times.
Best band ever.. hard to believe they are even better live! Every song is freaking amazing! Please check out Monster next..then yes, go down that rabbit hole!!!
By the way, only in Jesus Christ can you be truly Awake and Alive. Be blessed!
My (grown kids) got me hooked on Skillet years ago! They are a WONDERFUL band to follow. They are just as good LIVE! I have seen them at least 6 times in different concert venues. They never disappoint.
Jennifer Carole Ledger (born 8 December 1989) is an English singer, drummer and co-vocalist for the American Christian rock band Skillet. At the age of 18 she became Skillet's drummer when their former drummer Lori Peters retired.
Ledger released a solo EP in 2018 under the name Ledger. Several songs hit the Christian Rock chart and several other songs hit the Contemporary Christian music chart.
Me and my wife haven't spoken much in these last few months. It's been the worst time in my life by far. I just want to say I appreciate your videos, I know it sounds corny, but they've helped me escape even for a few minutes. Much ❤️
Skillet: John Cooper lead vocal, bass & co-founder, His wife Corey Cooper guitar, keyboard and vocals, Ben Lead guitar and Jen who is from England and their drummer. I seen these guys in concert in 2010, One of my favorite groups. Please (if you get the chance) react to Monster, Feel Invincible and Whispers In the Dark all by Skillet
A favorite band of mine. I've seen twice in concert. Christain band. Drummer is Jen. John the lead singer on base married to the gutsrist/keywords player named korey and 2nd guitarist is Seth.
It's been way too long! Time for some more Skillet!!!! Let's go!
This is def a band to go down the rabbit hole on. All their songs are great and very inspirational.
I feel so sorry for Miss Amber's chair right now!! LOLOLOLO!! First time for me and this band!
im so glad you guys did skillet ive been listening to these guy like 10+ yrs and they keep getting better the further they go on the hole group is awesome👍
Skillet puts on an AMAZING show!! John and his wife Korey (lead guitar) rock the house! Drummer Jen Ledger is absolute FIRE!! Thank you for reacting to Skillet!!
So ready for more skillet being done!!!!
Skillet is one of my favorite bands. I have been a fan of Skillet since 2005. I have all of Skillet's albums. I loved your reaction to their song "Awake and Alive". I hope you react to more of Skillet's songs
I haven't heard this is a while, sounds great again.
I've seen them a few times live. Always a high energy show. The drummer is the one and only Jen Ledger from England. Watching her live beating the drums like they owe her money is always a treat.
There's only 1 member of the band I can never remember his name is the guitarist other than the frontman John Cooper. John's wife also plays guitar as well as keyboard, her name is Kori Cooper. & of course back up vocals/drummer is Jen Ledger.
I saw these guys a few years ago. I've seen major acts with awesome stage presence and Skillet takes no back seat to any of them. Very powerful group regardless of genre. Their music helped bring me out of severe depression several years ago.
Skillet will always have a special place in my life. Many songs like this, many hits, many good messages.
It usually is difficult for drummers to play and sing! Getting the left side of the brain to get into rhythm with the right side, awesome!!! Whether it's a woman or a man makes little difference. That rocked!!!
First time I heard this song as well. Love how inspirational it is.
