Great clip - good to see the Dell in all its glory. Southampton handed out some thrashings to all of the top teams there in the old days - the magic;s never quite been there since the old place got knocked down.

Surprised they didn't win any silverware in that era with quality players and a good team ethic, for the best part of two decades. The Dell was a tough place to go to, don't think it was a particularly favorite hunting ground for Liverpool.

Had a season ticket in the Archers road when I was a kid, £96 for the whole season! How times have changed. It was amazing watching Le God all those years ago..One of the country's most naturally gifted payers ever in my opinion. Good times at The Dell.

what a brilliant unexpected result, loved that saints team. I'm behind the goal on the second two with my brother. Difficult to pick a man of the match. I remember being impressed with how Dodd kept Barnes out of the game and how brilliant Paul Rideout was. Thanks for this!

I went to so many games at the Dell that season thanks to my GF who was at Southampton University. Witnessed some cracking games. Great team, epic stadium.

Le Tissier era medio equipo, que gran jugador!

Southampton had some good players then, Rideout, Shearer, Wallace, LeTissier, Flowers in goal. They turned over some good sides at The Dell.

Rare gold. I take it this was a live game. Must have been something about wearing a grey strip at the Dell. What a great ground the Dell was.

The Dell was somewhat of a fortress back in the day. Some lessons learned by the bigger sides when playing Southampton at the Dell.

Lovely memories! Had forgotten that Alan Shearer played at Soton with Matt Le Tissier.

Southampton, the better team on the day by a mile. Some wonderful fluid football and beautiful goals. This was not the typical manner in which other teams pulled off shock results against Liverpool back then with scrappy goals from set pieces (eg Crystal Palace in the semi final that same season)

Jimmy Case loved it down there with all those talented youngsters out wide and in front of him - prolonged his career

Not just a question of what if with Southampton and the numerous top class players they have lost over the last few years but back in the early 90s. Shearer, Wallace, Flowers, Le Tissier and Rideout to name but a few.

"The Southampton keeper" was Tim Flowers. It's as if the commentator didn't know his name.
    Chris Nichol was Saints manager.
Liverpool were in 2nd place; Southampton in 3rd, at the start of the game, according to 11v11 website.

Saints have produced some top players down the years. Terry Paine, Ron Davies, Shearer and Matt Le Tissier to name but 4. Not often Liverpool took a clobbering like that back then.

That Liverpool away kit was simply hideous. I remember several lads at school had it and it looked even worse in real life.
