      That’s why the American made muscle cars were the big 3….AMC almost made it with the Javelin which was a very good car except AMC came in way too late and not with enough muscle…but the big 3 wanted it with the American made muscle the Cuda, Road Runner, Challanger, Mustang and of course the Chevelle, Nova, Camaro and of course the GTO, TransAm coming from Pontiac and I had s blast decades ago fights between the Camaro and Mustang, Mustang vs Cuda etc and decades later were STILL battling and still a blast…

    I love these roadrunners...if I'm not mistaken, 383 wasn't an option in this year. A friend of mine had one in the early 80's with a 400...watched him wreck it playing on gravel, right after he got it...I think he cried.

    • @FirebirdCamaro1220
      @FirebirdCamaro1220 Před 2 lety

      It wasn't, there were no big block Cuda's or Challengers after 1971, and the 383 was bored out to 400 in 1972, but wasn't available in E bodies

      @pdiz Před 2 lety +1

      You're right, 383 was not an option this year. As far as big blocks go, 400 was available, and 440 only if you had the GTX option (which only came in an automatic).

    It is possible that the 318 could be original. G in the vin means 318, and E44 on the fender tag means 318 also. The numbers matching the last eight digits of the vin would be stamped on the right side of the block. No 383 offered on a 1973 Roadrunner.

      @@chuckdameron5626 I agree. My point was that in 1973, the 383 wasn't even an offered engine. I think it would have been either 318, 340 or 400, and I don't think they advertised 318 via hood decals. I'm no expert, but I think that's what I recall.

      I was thinking that but I’d be willing to bet it’s been painted at some point and maybe there was hopes of a 383 going in it.

      I'm no mopar expert, but saw the 383 and thought it didn't seem right...sure enough, they didn't even offer a 383 in this year.
