You've notice on your anvil there's no steel
*Touches the anvil to double check*
The skinny dude was looking at it sweeping side to side lmao. Gotta double check man
"The challenge today is to make a blade in your signature style using the steel in your anvil."
Please history channel, let's just post all the full videos ok that would be great
wow that was lazy, your request is already available you know, on their app
I love how no matter what happens, both the judges and contestants on the show are always respectful of each other
Contestant: “I am taking this piece of steel coz I don’t like this other skinny one and it’s gonna be hard to forge with”
*proceeds to give other guy the skinny price of steel*
Judges: “see that’s the beauty of this competition. The sportsmanship, the camaraderie...”
I wish they didn't edit it for dramatic effect and we could get an actual idea of what they do within the time.
When you know the tension is artificial it stops being tense and takes away from the times it actually is tense.
I'm waiting for the episode where instead of using other metal, they have to use the metal from the anvils themselves.
Adam Swindell most anvils are not a good type of steel for knives
Its a realy bad idea, there is alot of anvils with cast steel body whereas there is probably not added better steel anywhere
"just trying not to overheat it" meanwhile, cranking as fast as he can on that blower😲😕☹️🤔
my favorite show on youtube thanks!!
Brandons experiences while forging are basically my experiences during an exam
If I couldn't get my fire started, I'd grab a scoop of coals from another competitor's fire🤣😂😅😁
“My main goal today is not to cry” why am I in this video?
This show is great
This is such a cool show.
This is top notch competition . Never heard of a one time forging that actually works . ITS ONLY FOR GENIUSES .
Dude why can't we have more show that do this. So much sportsmanship
this was best ep find your own metal
Do the sound effects guys get royalties in American TV shows? 😂 I love watching them but they all have to have over the top music and suspense sound effects
It History channel with their specific show formula. Its lazy conceptually, "why change it if this has worked the thousand other times we did it?" I know personally it ruins their shows.
I wanna watch this full episode
Ive known Wade most my life and him helping is just wade. He is a good guy and a fantastic horse farrier btw
No good deed goes unpunished clearly
Coal is the way to go.
cry if you must, never surrender. Two different things XD
Forging in broad daylight is pretty hard if you’re using a coal forge. Especially if color is the only thing that is guiding you. I also learned my lesson with heating it up to yellow in sunlight.
If I forge in the daylight, I don’t really let it get past bright orange, out of fear of burning the bar. Besides I mainly use W1, which has a pretty safe low forging temp of around 1900-1950F
Best part of this show is sportsmanship
I have that forge and am often stuck with cruddyier steel
Starting fires with manual turbos!!
I'd start chipping rocks lol
nice
As you can see on your anvil, there is no steel
*everyone touches the anvil to make sure there isn't steel on the anvil"
eet will not keel ? ☹️💔
Imagine if he said You've notice on your anvil there's no steel. Because you will use that anvil as your steel.
Well this is one of the dumbest edits History has EVER done for these videos!
History channel, can you guys please stop chopping up videos or at the very least make at least an attempt of doing it correctly? This editing is just abysmal, why was the ending cut out?
oh look a turbo
Makes the fire finally, and burns the steel. I died laughing hhahahaha
and then...he was voted out
can anyone explain to me why they seem to enjoy setting thins up in a manner to make the act of forging more unpleasant that it needs to be (i would love to see them get to use good coal forgets with descent blowers) this show really should be about a creative challenge and people who love a craft not people dropping dead from the heat and having to forge monster pieces of steel for no particular reason
Its entertainment. Ive seen complete amateurs win on technicalities over 20 year veterans. I was featured on season 5 episode 6. My apprentice, leon, was the most inexperienced smith to ever go on forged in fire with only 2 forged knives under his belt. He managed to make a quenched knife to spec in the time alotted. I asked the producers to kick us off instead of Mark and Jessica, who ended up winning, because their crack wasnt fatal. It was a fun experience. Remember, its entertainment.
i am not knocking the entertainment part i just know i enjoy forging in the shade if out side and when i am inside i dont like to work with a gas forge to my back blasting heat at me (same held true while blowing glass i have no problem dealing with heat if i have to but if it done to add drama that is just the show being laze )
@Mister Sparkle not tears that's sweat. i work hot if i have to but it is not a pleasant experience and takes away a bit of the joy you can find in working with your hands (i realize they do it for drama and what not but it still seems kind of stupid and my guess is only people that dont work at a forge find it democratic instead of a juvenile gimmick)
Yeah .. Its like if master chef made them use outdoor grills every episode
0:01 that’s because you’ll be using the anvil
Need couple cold 1 & chicken on d spit b4 get start..
I’m the type to say *”have fun with that”*
Anyone here actually forge their own knives? I've done two. A bootknife out of an old flat file..and a tomahawk out of an old lawnmower blade both are pretty awesome....to me anyways
I've been forging for a little over 3 years myself. I actually got to meet Christoph Deringer, the competitor in the black sweater at the far right anvil, at a knife show some time ago. It takes some time to develop your skills (I'm still a beginner myself), but once you start to get the hang of things it becomes a lot of fun.
Fill your own cup first
I hate those little red converses and those tight trousers
Challenge? That is all i use for my projects jesus its not that hard after awhile
Lmao that guy hosting is short
Why don't use the old technical skill.
1:45 is to blow up and like i don't know nobodyyy
The voice-overs are highkey awkward...
😄
"The coal forge challenge"
Blacksmiths like me too dirt broke to set up a proper forge: you call forging with coal a challenge? 🤔
There was one episode with a guy in the final challenge boasting about how great he was working at home with his coal forge. "A lot of guys can't do what I'm doing because they end up burning through their steel." He then proceeded to burn through his steel.
Why did you give that one poor guy a forge with goddam blower you have to crank a million miles n hour?
Every time this guy talks it seems like he has to remind himself not to cry.......This guy is way too intouch with his weakness feelings if crying is he go to thought.
Fire the editor because he can't cut
Jake Paul is a bladesmith? 🤣
HISTORY CHANNEL. SHOW THE ELIMINATION
Logan paul
“My main goal today is... not to cry.”
Me too buddy, me too.
