    I have a Boss LMB-3 a Behringer BEQ700 and a Boss MT-2 on my drummaschine for ages. I tried this, because its a cheap way to improve your sounds. But I found out not everyone was aware of that solution. And I'm doing this for over 10 years now

    Interesting video! The DS-1 is optimized for midrange guitar tones and you lose most of the bass, also you get a strong hiss. Using it as a send effect to run it parallel to the original signal is a bettter option. Also there are overdrives/distortions that are better suited for drum machines like the Hustle Drive by Mooer which doesn't kill the low frequencies.

    Just got my RD-8, the single voice outputs with pedals make it SO versatile

    Bro somehow your voice slipped into the video at 7:10 when you turn on the drum machine, sounds so trippy haha

    Yeah, the kids don't know how the 90s techno sound was done. This is how. And it was done live. Just pick a drum machine with single outs or at least as many outs as you can afford and then go crazy. All you need are those cheapo pedals from the Behringer and a mixer to get started. Analog mixers are going for peanuts now that all the productions rely on the digital desks. So, good times for old and new farts to get farting around.

    I always disposed the much loved DS-1. My grandma bought me this as my first pedal in like ‘88. But I just find it so trebly and harsh.

  • @AW-Services
    @AW-Services Před rokem

    Forget DAW's and PC based production. Go traditional and analogue. You can't beat the Boss DS-1 for sound shaping 90s inspired kick drums on the Roland Tr6s

  • @tomvice
    @tomvice Před 3 lety +1

    You need a reamper from the drum machine to the pedal. And a DI from the pedal to the preamp. Otherwise impedance mismatch will kill lots of the frequencys making it sound thin

    Fabio... thanks for vid. Any troubles running the low Z line from the drum Machine into a high z input of pedal. I am just starting to setup a bunch of my pedals and ran across a few other vids that claim that a re-amp box (like a radial re-amp) may make it sound better. Just thought I’d get your thoughts! Thanks for the content brother! T

    • @syntheffects
      @syntheffects Před 2 lety

      It's not a problem at least for most of the pedals. There's science to back it up, but it's easier to just try pedals or listen to demos of them to find out. I never reamp any of the pedals I demo.

  • @Subtronik

    Do you prefer delay before reverb? I’ve heard it both ways and am still on the fence 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I couldn't find any video in your channel that explains about taking audio from the DAW into the pedal

    • @syntheffects
      @syntheffects Před 2 lety

      What Daw do you use? In Ableton there's a special "External audio effect" for that, you pick the output and input channels of your audio interface that you connect tge pedal to and then it works.

    • @vishnudh1216
      @vishnudh1216 Před 2 lety

      @@syntheffects So there won't be a need for those Radial boxes to change the signal level? Just manually adjust in the external audio effect

  • @qualityserbi

    Is it normal that the volume on my korg volca bass is reduced by half when I turn on my caverns delay/reverb pedal? It feels broken to me.

    • @syntheffects
      @syntheffects Před 2 lety +1

      If you have a Y cable you might try connecting your volca to a pedal with that, sometimes there's problems with phase cancellation when running a stereo signal into a mono input. Also check that the cable from the pedal to your interface isn't tge cause, try running sth else through the pedal.

    I like to put fx on my send and return on my mixer so I can still get that clean sound for the source. Especially for delay and reverb...you know that though haha

    • @Flux799
      @Flux799 Před 3 lety +2

      Me too but typically distortion doesn’t go in a fx loop. It’s best to run your device right into a distortion pedal and then into a channel on the mixer.

    • @syntheffects
      @syntheffects Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! The DS-1 is best used in parallel like that, so you don't lose all the bass.

  • @kenadhitya

    • @purelucknoskill5158
      @purelucknoskill5158 Před 3 lety

      ??

    • @syntheffects
      @syntheffects Před 2 lety +1

      It's mono so panning gets summed or ignored in the DS-1 bc it's mono, but will work with the other stereo pedals (2 inputs and outputs).
