the ash of war you get from the Hornsent that goes on backhand weapons is ridiculous. I don't have it myself but invaded someone with it and was like what the hell just happened to me lol
@@endub6551the new blinkbolt dual axe is pretty nutty too, its the faith version of swiftslash. The best way to counter these aows is go bulky and trade with them, which can only work if you are the host, if you are the invader, you're gonna have a real bad time no matter what.
@@binhvan4893 Situational, but if you can jump over a blinkbolt axe teleport , it will throw them 90 degrees sideways while trying to track you. I've had quite a bit of fun getting people to throw themselves off ledges.
Spent my whole day testing different weapons in invasions and duels, Poleblade of the Bud is now my most favourite weapon, because its aow has insane range, and it has scarlet rot build up.
Ps. In tight spaces, the crucible wings aow is pretty okay, paired it on the black steel twinblade, holy infusion. Either i got lucky match ups or people actually struggle dodging it, so id recommend testing it
It has the swordspear moveset as well which means guaranteed jumping R2 into R1 combo. It's only a matter of time before people start rocking it with antspur in the offhand and mushroom hat.
I love this sword to bits. It screams armored core bro. You assault boost into melee range and pop assault armor. So damn cool. Hope this one doesn't get mega nerfed.
I kinda hope it does. Killing people in one shot if they panic roll once is insane. It's miles better than any other colossal so they are all worthless while it exists like this.
@jakemaxwell3810 moonveil stays untouched for two years just to be "nerfed" by like 1 or 2%. But the second STR builds get something nice it's the anti christ. It's all the evil in the world. I for once welcome an ultra with a good weapon art to combat ganks and punish heals. And to call it the best is just a blatant lie. It does majority physical damage and then a small amount of magic damage. Meanwhile other ultras can be buffed with resin and infused with obnoxious status effects. And I have never one-shot anyone with the correct amount of hp. Honestly with how burst based the 125-200 level bracket is I'd consider it to be pretty tame.
I'm really surprised you don't rock the Two-Handed Talisman. +15% extra damage is a huge deal, it's become a mainstay of my set ups. Edit : Chase replied it's only about 11% and doesn't affect Ashes of War. Thanks for the reply Chase!
Chase is just a tarnished like the rest of us, what makes him exceptional is exactly what makes the protagonists of the Souls games so incredible in the face of legitimate gods and heroes. I’d normally leave some comment about St. Trina’s torch, or the new forbidden flame in town, Nanayas torch, but I legit wanted to say thank you for making me better at PvP. I got my start in souls games PvP ganking cosplaying as ornstein and smoug, so PvP had always been special to me. Thanks to you, I know the importance of thrust attacks that roll catch. Thanks for what you do man. We truly appreciate it.
There's also a lot of other mean stuff that came with the DLC. Swift Slash (insta win) Rolling Sparks (one shots other players basically always) Spread Crossbow (literally "spreads" status, especially Sleep) Duelist Shield (try it in PvP; flat out OP) Blind Spot (basically BHS but with damage, stagger and possible R1 follow ups) Fire Knight's Greatsword (Colossal Sword with R1R1-Combo for at least 900 damage) PvP is really one huge mess at the moment and with Rolling Sparks you can trivialize the whole DLC. I've completed my NG+3 run yesterday with a RL 150 with a normal non-cheese build just to create a save file to engage the last boss with Rolling Sparks. It is in fact really unfair for that poor soul of a boss.
@@DTGeorge Nah, wouldn't say that. There are 100 weapons and like 50 incants/sorcs. Most of them do what they should do. Some are so broken that they mess up PvP/PvE and some are so broken that they're borderline useless. But the majority of new stuff works.
That was a blast, glad such a cool-looking weapon gets such great functionality. The elevator teamwipe was a riot. Looking forward to the Golem Fists, Sword of Light, and Horned Warrior Greatsword.

I noticed that when the explosion happens during the ash of war it actually is coming from the middle of the weapon, not the tip of it. I think if you use the ash at a closer distance after a crouch poke rather than a heavy the explosion itself will be where the opponent is rolling rather than only the tip of the weapon hitting when using the ash from afar. Hope this helps!
Have you found the Euporia Twinblade yet? It's a dex/faith weapon that gets stronger whenever it deals damage, its found in Enir Ilim, after a parkour route that starts just before the Spiral Rise grace, under the bridge where a caster is.
I really want to see you try out the deflecting hardtear in pvp. It would be a very dramatic change in playstyle but if you have an aggressive enough weapon it might work
You really need to do one on the *Poisoned Hand* soon! It is low-key and absolute MONSTER of an off-hand weapon with it’s instant Deadly Poison proc for its AoW, and it stacks with the *Mushroom Crown and Kindred of Rot Exultation!* Also, you can now have the *Lord of Blood’s Exultation* (Or White Mask for heavier armor) and with *ALL FOUR SOURCES ACTIVE,* you potentially obtain *A WHOPPING +70% AR BONUS*
No matter what weapon I try out, I always run back to the colossal sword class. There's just something so satisfying about using them. I trolled quite a few people in invasions with this weapon. Not many people are used to seeing someone with a colossal sword charging forward that quickly. Feels so good to have another one with thrusting heavies too. I'm sorry gugs but I might have to put you on the shelf. I found a new love.
I won like 30 invasions in a day with this sword the roll catch is just too good and that explosion right after catches anyone trying to hit you. Thing does insane damage.
Meteoric is my to go run weapon, I not a pvp player and I can tell, for pve also amazing! also try AOW + Light (without the second part of AOW), works well in pve (not sure in pvp)
I also like using this AoW as a spontaneous emergency strat. The distance is insane and absolutely eclipses anything you'd get off of a roll or backstep
Me and my friends duel a lot and one of them uses the backhand blade and that weapon art is overpowered, it’s a dodge and a swing in a single button, kind of insane for duels
Yoo he did my favorite weapon! This is without a doubt the coolest ultra greatsword, it even has noticeably more range than the Guts sword, which is pretty crazy.
Got a lot of love for this weapon & hoping the Flowerstone Gavel’s art which lowers lightning defense works. Not tested it properly yet though as Bayle the Dread took a few attempts. 😅 Really liking the flowerstone gavel though which led to doing Igon’s quest.
You gotta try the serpent flail, the ash of war + running heavy or crouch attacks all scale with two handed sword talisman/shard of Alexander/winged serpent helm/ledas chest + all of the fire damage boosts and they come out so quick

You should do a build around smithscript weapons at some point, all of them can be thrown and I feel like the extra range could be very interesting in a pvp setting

Powerstancing Miladys actually has a really interesting move set with multi-hit talismans. A lot of the L1s combo into r1s and flow really well

One thing I like about this sword Ash of war is the fact that even if you run out of FP it still does the full distance lunge

It doesn't affect the ash, so it's probably not worth swapping out a more valuable talisman if he's killing people this quick all the same.
it is good but from my testing its only 11% more damage, and yeah it doesnt boost the ash, it is definitely worth it depending on the weapon though!

Been using this for my entire playthrough of the DLC since I picked it up. It shreds everything pretty easily with 70 STR and 40 ARC.
