Music is a universal language. If I don't understand the lyrics, I usually go off of the vibe of the song and how it makes me feel. Rap can go either way though. If the song is solely based on bars and not the feel of the music (or even straight a cappella) then it's pretty pointless in me reacting to it. I'll never understand how certain reactors will sit there jumping around while reacting to Brazilian rap battles/freestyles, yet can't speak a word of Portuguese. The haka is another good example. Foreigners all around the world get emotional when in the presence of a great haka, but yet they don't understand why it is they're so emotional. The same rule applies.
SHAY agreed. Music transcends race, biases, language, etc. You don't have to know what they're saying to understand that was a sick a$$ flow. Being a Filipino-American and a hip hop head since the late 70's, I'm a firm believer in those who spit sh*t that can evoke emotion and verbalize a feeling over word play. Tricks are for kids! Pac, Eminem, old DMX, Nas were some of the greats to do it. Plus, you can just tell by the syncopation of the flow and the cleanliness of the delivery that these guys were going in from a technical standpoint. I don't understand all that was being said, but I definitely feel their vibe.

damn..how can you react to the song if you can hardly pronounce the title of the song..
Music is a universal language. If I don't understand the lyrics, I usually go off of the vibe of the song and how it makes me feel. Rap can go either way though. If the song is solely based on bars and not the feel of the music (or even straight a cappella) then it's pretty pointless in me reacting to it. I'll never understand how certain reactors will sit there jumping around while reacting to Brazilian rap battles/freestyles, yet can't speak a word of Portuguese. The haka is another good example. Foreigners all around the world get emotional when in the presence of a great haka, but yet they don't understand why it is they're so emotional. The same rule applies.
SHAY agreed. Music transcends race, biases, language, etc. You don't have to know what they're saying to understand that was a sick a$$ flow. Being a Filipino-American and a hip hop head since the late 70's, I'm a firm believer in those who spit sh*t that can evoke emotion and verbalize a feeling over word play. Tricks are for kids! Pac, Eminem, old DMX, Nas were some of the greats to do it. Plus, you can just tell by the syncopation of the flow and the cleanliness of the delivery that these guys were going in from a technical standpoint. I don't understand all that was being said, but I definitely feel their vibe.
