This is a very different video for me so I'm still trying to find my voice with this kind of content but still had a lot of fun putting it together.
Hopefully it's of some interest or help to people who are into animation.

Your voice is the vocal equivalent of an expensive box of tissues with how soft spoken it is.
This comment is so damn polite
*box of tissues*
It’s him, he’s a crazy fellow, he’s nuts of some sort. He’s done something truly bizzare
and also strange
it's kind of an adventure too
(I dont even know what I'm talking about I'm just trying to make a jojos bizzare adventure reference)
"You sound like da Joker."
Ok as whimsical as this video is , there are a lot of big brain concepts and techniques demonstrated . Thank you.
This video is not realistic at all, Adobe Animate didn't crash every 4 minutes.
so true
It's the crashing I can't stand.
Update some hardware bro. Maybe the ram or processor.
@@dsa4051 naw it's just Adobe. It's actually very normal. They tend to have barely stable releases.
@@Manganization i second this, it's nothing to do with anyone's hardware, Flash is just an unstable POS. That's why a lot of 2D animators, even Chris, switched to Blender.
The Spore Creature Creator OST is pretty fitting to the video's theme.
Yes, it was recognised!
I recognise that signature percussion
I KNEW IT, IT *WAS* THE SPORE OST
Oh I didn't notice it
Nice to see other people recognized it
I didn't even watch the OneyPlays animated, I just love watching people animate/and their processes
Glad that this aspect of it was up your street :)
ELLO YU
ITS GURU LARREY
HERE ARE TOP TEN THINGS I ANIMATED ON ME BUM
I need a bit more tea and biscuits to reach Guru Larry levels of Brit but I dream to get there
@@faxjam always great to see animators from my side of the pond, keep up the great work and you'll go far in this industry.
@@faxjam you must become the chippy man
You should do more animation tutorials you're good at this!
Thankyou! Had no idea how this would go down but it seems well received so more coming in the future for sure :)
I dont rember
I like how I'm learning and having fun at the same time
What schools never could do.
I think a lot of animators naturally have an urge to teach it, cause it's so detailed and cool. And it's a great thing to do!
strangely enough I didn't have so much of a natural urge to teach initially because I used to be bad at sharing my stuff but since sharing it more I feel I've perhaps developed that urge to show how I do it a bit more
@@faxjam oh that’s cool! It’s always interesting to hear about what motivates other animators
You forgot the part with the 30 korean kids in the back room
I thought I'd save that for my next tutorial: Building and maintaining an illegal sweatshop in 2020
@@faxjam now when running a sweatshop do you pay them with money or goods?
@@TheOnlyAchilles ....pay them?
@@TheOnlyAchilles Wait, what do you mean by "pay"?
Oh hi Mao!
ur a crazy fellow ur nuts of some sort
this is really interesting and a great walkthrough thank you very much
Thanks! hope it helps in some way with an animated project or something :)
Its truly bizarre he did it for free
Lets go, love your stuff. We need more animators like you, who make interesting content.
I love the fact he isn't just doing oney clips and makes original stuff to
do you watch alan becker?
LETSS GOOOOOOO
Very much agreed😉
Define interesting
Time to brew my self some non-decaffeinated tea
OH THIS IS ACTUALLY GONNA BE INCREDIBLY HELPFUL! I’ve been needing a look into animation processes
A very good reminder about how much respect animators deserve.
I want to be a professional artist, and seeing people that even kind of know what they’re doing in animation makes me feel like I’m Naruto watching the Hokage or something like that
It always baffles me just how much work is behind animation. All that effort for like 5 seconds! You people are amazing.
One of the things I admire in your animations is how fluid your character animations seem in your final products! You make the fundamentals look easy. Thanks for the vid!
I love the box going "OOF" when it falls over
I adore the use of Spore's Creature Creator song when animating the movement. Because you are essentially creating a creature, who just happens to be Lyle, the wild new villain of some sort.
Literally the perfect tutorial. You have quickly and easily become my favorite youtuber of 2020 my man, absolutely love everything you’ve done and this is no exception
Only just saw ya comment, thanks so much man! I've seen you showing support in the comments since I pretty much started on here I think so it means a lot :)
Your sketching is better than my finshed drawings, thank you for teaching me your ways
2:31 Spore create menu music on BG when you are talking about spine, just gold
You sound like Tomar’s impression of a British bloke eating crisps. I am an artist that wants to animate with a style in mind similar to yours, so this has been a big inspiration and a good note-taking opportunity. Thanks for being cool guy and sharing your secrets
I am indeed a British bloke that often partakes in crisps lol. Glad the tut could be of some help! I am eventually getting around to doing more so hopefully those will be helpful too. Best of luck on your animating adventure 😎
my man really out here using the spore creature creator theme
Instructions unclear, my Spaghetti has jumped off my plate and slinked down the hall.
The spore creature creator music fits so well
My brain's melting from witnessing Lyle's impossible twisting of body parts frame by frame, especially the torso and feet at the end, and that you went with it, fantastic. xD
Tbh, I did frame by frame for everything. Now I feel dumb. Thank you for enlightening me :)
This is the greatest animated tutorial on animation I’ve ever witnessed
This is the best tutorial I've come across! Engaging voice, simple explanation, Lyle's madman swagger, you got it all!
this makes me wanna learn to animate, you've done a good job showcasing the process in a fun manner
You are absurdly entertaining and good at animating. 😳
god i love just listening to you preach your art to me with your dulcet tones you have very quickly become my favourite animator and definitely in my top 5 youtubers
I really love your work. As someone who animates this video was incredibly helpful. Thanks for letting us take a look behind the scenes.
Now maybe even a mere animation peasant such as I can learn how to do the incredible _spin._
Thanks mate!
You got this! best of luck bud 😎
All that for 3 seconds??? Hats off to you buddy, that's dedication
This video was very enjoyable and sorta comedic in a way it sorta helped me how to animate a little better than last time
This is awesome! I've wanted to get into animation for a while and this was just the kick in the pants I needed. :)
Always happy to be kicking people in the pants, best of luck on your animation journey! I'll wack up a poll at some point on what I could cover more specifically so keep an eye out for that if there's something you find a bit bewildering about the process
wow you've grown so fast, man you make me realize that I have a lot to learn about animation
Faxjam is the art teacher that we all wish we had
Thank you for the tutorial!
What are you thinking of next? Any sleepy cabin ideas like the Barcade story? I’m surprised nobody had done that yet.
I know nothing about animation, but I loved this video!
Literally the BEST tutorial I've ever seen in my life
Heard murmurs of this coming soon and it did not disappoint. Such a fascinating breakdown, love how straightforward the explanations are while still having some wit and character to the narration. And it's so cool to see the process for the exaggerated movement of Lyle's little villain spiel!
thankyou! I rewrote this about a dozen times so I'm glad it was straight forward in the end haha. Got another tutorial type vid on the way soon too
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen that incorporates all the animation principles without over explaining. Nice stuff, I'm learning a lot
Wow doing the rough animation with JUST the line of action is a real interesting method. Never thought of doing it that way.
The clearest explanation I’ve seen about animation process
can’t decide if i like your animation or your voice more
Happy to see an animation process that makes it look fun to do. Some many videos are the most boring basic drooling processes. Thanks for putting so much effort into this
Dude, I've always wanted to animate something, but I never really knew how to just kinda start, you know? I've watched tutorials and stuff but none of them ever really made me think I could actually go ahead and do it. Something about this video of your process made it all just click somehow. Next time I'm not up to my eyeballs in college work I'm going to give it a real try and I'm going to use this as my reference
From an outsider perspective, this was really easy to follow and super informative, I loved it!
A little bit of comedy injected into tutorials is always welcome. Edutainment works!
This video make me wanna rewatch the animation even more
This didn’t help as much as I’d hoped if would, it just made me realize the skill floor is higher than I thought it was
didn't even know this was about an oneyplays reference so I was very happily surprised at the end.
As someone who is not an artist or an animator but has always wanted to try thank you!! i might actually try to get into the formula now!!!
This is helpful and all, but you act as if mere mortals can understand your insane grasp on perspective. This video is great!
Aww, honey, look. Fax Jam made another silly, little cartoon. That's going right on the fridge so we can all see it every day.
my parents do have a lot of animated gifs on their fridge, no one knows how they do it
9:02 More specific tutorials would be really cool to see!!!
Nice, this was very interesting to watch.
I love watching these sort of animation process videos, they fill me up with the type of inspiration that gets me all excited to create, but I never end up acting on it and the feeling passes over.
But hey, that doesn't mean that you're doing anything wrong!
I have the same thing with tutorials of any kind really, I always get super hyped about 3d modelling or something and then forget the next day lol. If I could recommend something, I'd say start by doing a really small and simple animation excersise and go from there so you don't get put off, best of luck if you give it a shot! :)
the sims music really speaks to me thank you
How the hell are you better at teaching than a professional teacher in animation
This is amazing dude!!! I'm just in the middle of an animation course and you just basically did an overview for over the last 10 classes we had
How come this video which explains animation through a red spaghetti already make 10 times more sense than any other animation tutorial I have ever seen lol. This video is amazing
whoah thanks! I had no idea how this was going to translate to the viewer since I already know what I'm explaining, glad you liked it :)
I didn't expect a tutorial to be this entertaining.
All of your animations are super well done. Can't wait to see what else you're working on!
I learnt more from this one tutorial than any others combined
the spore music is a nice touch
I don't animate and I've never had an easy time drawing things but this was really entertaining.
Now this is quality content, good funny animated shorts and now even a tutorial to know how they are made and make, adore what you do man keep it up
I never thought of animating the LOA ("spaghetti" :P) itself! That is tremendously helpful. Great in-depth explanation and editing!
Thankyou! Glad it could be of some help :) breaking things down into spaghettis and such is great because you can really quickly change and reanimate if the basic animation looks goofy
I really like the section about momentum and movement, coming from someone who has never animated before. I feel like I actually learned something about animation that I can look out for and compare in other projects. Great video!
Thanks! ahh that's great because I delayed the vid to rewrite that bit. The original version was pretty much “make it do spin in circle shape ” and that was it, not helpful at all haha
@@faxjam Thanks for taking the time to elaborate!
as someone who's wanted to get started on animation but doesn't really know how to start the process, this was really nice to see. Thanks for making this!
remember this:
_"the 13 principles of animation"_
This is honestly the best, most easy to understand and helpful animation tutorial I've ever seen. Please do more amazingly splendid tutorials in the future
Cheers! Glad it was easy to follow, I rewrote it about 20 times not being sure how to do a tutorial so I'm glad it paid off lol (and yeah more to come!)
0:00 Look Fax Jam, ITS YOU!!
Good vid btw
I've watched that skit many times including earlier today so seeing your work in action was actually quite insightful and i really loved watching all that, thank you i hope you do more in the future
I love your animations so much! Thank you for sharing your process
This man is a true master of the craft...
Fax Jam, more like Factual and useful summary of animation techniques... damn!
This is really great stuff, I love seeing your process!
Oh God yes this is exactly what I needed today, always great work mate, amazing to see your process
Fuck me this looks insanely hard. So much respect for sick animators like you mate
This whole process is so complex that it could be considered a part 6-8 stand
Spore creation ost in Animation part
Is so accurate, actually
I absolutely loved this. You did a great job with the little edits beyond the animations and watching you animate was really insighful, kudos friend
this is the stuff that deserves awards
You do such a phenomenal job! Keep up the amazing work!
Actually very helpful. Thanks for making it!
I love your fixation on the arcs and rotation, it’s so interesting s makes suchs a satisfying flow.
Thank you! The spaghet tip has probably freed up a year of my life I’d otherwise spend erasing and redrawing
I remember I used to start by doing the really rough animation in a fair amount of detail and then realised I had to erase most of the drawings I was making, all praise the spaghett!
Actually the most useful Animate tutorial I've seen
Cheers, glad it can be of some help! I was worried my meme habit would distract too much in places haha
I appreciate you! Saved to my favorites.
This is so comprehensive compared to a lot of other animation tutorials- simple, yet understandable! Love it!
The Sims 1 OST ❤ Lovely choice of background music
You don’t know how much this helped me
I seriously haven't been this excited for a new content creator in a long time! Especially an animator!! Probably since Eddsworld.
thats some high praise right there, thankyou so much! will do my best to continue to deliver, got a new animation out soon and then another tut not long after 😎
I love how I already know what it's from with only 3 frames
these tips have definitely opened my eyes. I will use this process ASAPthanks!!!
